I met Joan Jett at a coffee house once before a festival she was playing in florida. She was extremely down to earth, approachable and kind hearted. A little girl drew her a picture and gave it to her and you could see the genuine appreciation she felt. She was just so nice. I was shocked to see that she is a short girl like me.

Saw that tour on July 21st of 2022. The tone deaf couple in front of me sounded better than Vince Neil (when we could actually hear him), low bar there. Bret Michaels still sounds decent. Joe Elliott can still hit those notes, he just can't hold them like he could even five years ago. Joan still rocks like she's forty years younger. I really hope to see her again somewhere down the road as a headliner.

@@brackguthrie9470 I think there were many Rock n Roll all female bands. Especially in Mo Town. The Runaways appears to be the first big Hard Rock female band that did well. I love Joan Jett, but I don't think the girl bands were ever quite as hard as the male groups that can before. It was kind of a celebration of what is termed as toxic masculinity these days. I think it was just some guys having fun in an irresponsible way. As I get older I actually prefer the softer Rock music that preceded it. Mo Town music was really good. I also like Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and many more. Sometimes Folk and Country music are nice. I enjoyed Alternative Rock a lot in the 90s.

You like women leading rock bands, do you? May I suggest a newer artist than you usually review? How about a little Halestorm? Great vocals, lead singer/ guitarist is a woman. Love the music. My favourite of theirs that might be a good intro would be I Am the Fire. Great powerful song.

She learned the guitar at around 12 years old and was a member of an all-girl band, The Runaways, as a teenager in the 70s. Joan left that band at the end of the 70s (BTW, there was a 2010 biopic made, called "The Runaways") and formed Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. "I Love Rock & Roll" was their first hit, in 1980. Joan Jett is still rocking in her early 60s.

I saw her in concert LIVE just a few years ago. I believe she is a grandma now, but still hot and rockin the stage with the energy of a 20 year old. The whole crowd was singing along to her, decades after this song first came out.
