Boy, I hope by the end of this series there is a reward of seeing water cruising, skiing, and hydro sliding..... End of game rewards are a necessity... :)
Hey FJ...Im on paternaty leave the last few days and have to say you are an ANIMAL! I have been addicted to watching your boat videos. I cannot believe the work you are going through. Def sharing these with my boating buddies!
The thing you should have used to drill those holes in the Transom, is a Plunge Router Instead of buying a tool you are only going to use once. I seen about a dozen things you should have been a Router on from the beginning of this series.
Thanks for the videos so much. My big huge huge mistake also. I bought an Advantage Banshee with transom problems. It has two cracks in it because bravo 3 and blown BB engine are to big for transom, but not rotted anywhere, so lucky on that. It's a new boat maybe in in water twice. Seller passed away right after I bought it from dealer so can't get any important information on it like what did they do custom to bravo, and no engine specs at all. I did figure out crank is the best and it has 871 blower. No marking on cam. I am thinking there is a possibility they removed the bravo built in clutch and why they installed the engine clutch? Seller installed custom Bravo 3 and blown 502. Transom is not strong enough and sloppy job drilling and cutting transom holes. He made the transom higher to accept the height of drive and again, sloppy job. So I have my work cut out for me. I have to fill in parts of holes and redo, then fabricate struts from transom to stringers to make transom rigid and strong. I don't think the bravo 3 can handle over a 1000hp engine either, and I am thinking this engine is 1500hp+. I have built allot of drag boat engines so doing this one right will be easy for me but the cost of some new parts will be very high. Boat has a clutch like a car installed inside bell housing of engine with hydraulic clutch peddle under dash just like a car or truck. Boat is a show piece inside and out but all the rigging/engine mounts, etc. are crap. He used steal angle iron he must have found in a salvage yard, no stainless hardware or bolts anywhere. I will never buy a boat sight unseen over the internet again. Engine is new along with total outdrive but roller rockers were hitting inside of valve cover. I have to buy all new valve train and do it right. Stud girdles were also hitting inside of valve covers. 6000 dollar exhaust is not right for this boat so have to buy over the transom headers. I have spent over a year working a little at a time. When I bought the boat I thought I could head to the lake, wrong! Another bad thing, outdrive hole is actually a little to high, it should be about 3 inches lower on transom but I won't be changing that which would mean a new transom build. I am going to sandwich the transom with two 1/4 inch aluminum AC grade plates almost as large as total transom. This will make it bullet proof strong. Wife is not happy believe me, and the cost will be high to do this right. When done it will be the only Advantage Banshee blown outdrive pickle fork tunnel hull on the planet. I am worried about drive shaft reaching the crank at the correct distance into the crank bearing. Is there an adjustment of length of shaft inside outdrive?
I have 06 galaxie tri hull not worth fixing but have it apart with floor out some parts of stingers are gon but some are good engine cradle is wet but the wood seems good do I drill into transom ? The engine is still in
