      River Spree, post apocalyptic looking Berlin around the Funkhaus and Tony talking modular ... definitely a good one! :) Seen the follow up from this year? ruclips.net/video/-KogBoKBAzU/видео.html

      yeah we're all a nice bunch. Funny when we all get out to events, it's like unloved pets been let to run around a park for the first time!

      +Dibs MM if I was closer to any I'd travel over and do more of this style of interview. I have to wait for big events for things like this to be possible.

    Great interview! Loving your show coverage so far, there are many other channels that covered the event but I like how since you're a modular guy you ask the manufacturers the right kind of questions and not like ''What is a VCO'' kind of stuff :D

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  8 лет назад +2

      +felipe vareschi yeah I was hoping that would come across. I've had a few noise issues with some audio and some camera blur/out of focus moments as it was really just a test on the technology I had to hand but overall I'm really happy with it all.

    Really great interview.. Interesting to see two very knowledgable modular bods able to really "geek out" and talk freely...
    This to me was the greatest single thing about Superbooth.. the environment for geeks to really open up and share thoughts and ideas

    Very informative and interesting.. The whole conversation about the differences between east and west coast design philosophy, fundamentals and harmonics, triangle wave mixing and contour generators was fascinating!
    That States business kind of reminded me of Reaktor's morph function how you could basically slide between one 'preset' and another.. But in a more complex and analogue way..
    Good stuff! ☺️

    • @oscillosaurus
      @oscillosaurus 8 лет назад +1

      +DivKidVideo Yeah Ben, please do. It's great to hear their philosophies. I was only discussing the idea of "systems" with the Australian modular group the other day and so it was really interesting to hear both of your views. Tony seeing his brand as an instrument in the same way I'm sure Don Buchla did / does and how you like to build specific cases for certain duties. The 5 minute interviews that people grab with these guys at NAMM an such don't really allow the time for them to divulge very much, this was a nice format.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  8 лет назад

      +Gareth Johnson yeah I've got plenty of general Superbooth footage but it was a lightbulb moment when we did this. Definitely going to be as much as I possible can. If I can somehow fund some time (and the actual cost) of travelling I'd be all over the place doing this.

    Maybe some of us will remember, when Batman was the only kid in the block with a CD writer! I remember when I saw a modified Sony PlayStation playing Bootlegged imported Japanese games, namely Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo, and THAT’s when I decided to buy a brand new PC. A Pentium 2, 300 MHz Windows 98 machine with a 1 GB hard drive and a whole 256 Megs of RAM! I was afraid of the internet so I ripped my modem out and traded it for 3 writable CDs, and my 2 times speed CD writer cost about 500$! It was 1996, and I know without a doubt that I’ve never made a wiser purchase. And the fact that software companies would stirr up incentive for everyone to go buy a CD burner, by claiming that with their software you can copy CDs. All of that snake oil would just serve as motivation for me to develop a skill set revolving around microcomputers, until I was actually semi computer literate. That decision and the experiences that followed as direct result of making that decision would shape my life and be so close to the core of my identity, that nothing else, no thing, no decision, has literally made me who I am more than the computer. THANKS FOR SHARING, I HOPE TO SEE SOMETHING GREAT AND AVANT-GARDE FROM MAKE NOISE IN A FEW WEEKS AT NAMM!!

    • @DivKid

      Hey thanks, really enjoyable meeting and speaking to Tony he was great on and off camera. I don't make any videos for Make Noise, we have spoke about it but nothing has come of it in the past. No hard feelings just a matter of fact that nothing is happening regarding me videoing their modules at present.

    Great interview! It's awesome to hear what's mulling around in the heads of these developers...Seems like the beauty in modular comes from wide acceptance of many various noise/frequency spectrums, so digital goodies that may happen to have some aliasing, can be approached in a creative and appreciative aspect, where as if you're a keyboard/guitar player, the sound of digital aliasing can be very off putting. Either way it's all about using the RIGHT tools, medium is mostly irrelevant.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  7 лет назад

      Exactly that!

  • @TheSlowGrowth
    @TheSlowGrowth 8 лет назад +1

    It would be greate if modules actually allowed you to seamlessly morph between their states.

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  8 лет назад +1

      +TheSlowGrowth yeah that would be seriously cool! I use Macro control on soft synths to do things like that.

    • @TheSlowGrowth
      @TheSlowGrowth 8 лет назад +1

      +DivKidVideo I guess it only makes sense for modules with continuous parameters (-> like Frames)

    • @DivKid

      +TheSlowGrowth yeah makes sense

    Oooookay; compare the sound of TI PCM63 R-2R multibit DAC that was "then", and random 1-bit sigma-delta DAC that is "now"; for my ears multibit will be simply in another league, by far.
