Some shady people will stand in front of private parking lots and charge folks to park there and then take off with the cash while you are stuck with the tow bill.
Like the mysterious stranger from Fallout. Or a scammer. It is a real thing that some morally bankrupt person in a high vis vest goes out to act like a parking attendant. Usually they take $5 from tourists or something until the police chase them off. Not sure if that's a common grift in TN but up in New England I've seen guys handing out handwritten tickets for lots with digital parking kiosks back when I was working in a shore town. If they pay $10 for a pack of cards from Staples it's quite the profit for the @$$ bucket.
@@TheMrEdmondsIt's almost like anyone can buy a yellow vest and tell people where they can park. People are way too trusting. Edit: Assuming of course she isn't just lying and hoping for sympathy.

It is Mr. Nobody ! Idea for poem (heavily modified) taken from "Mr. Nobody" by Anonymous, a poem I enjoyed in my childhood. Maggie
I like the old fart having an adventure. I travel a lot, both for business and with my family. Many people freak out when their flight or train is delayed or cancelled, as if they are going to lose their job, or even die. I always remind my daughters that travel is supposed to be an adventure. Delays, cancellations, flat tires, etc. are all part of that adventure, so make the most of it, and always pack extra undies and socks. 😆
So many people say…”we were only here for 5 minutes…”. How could that possibly be? They had to have been there long enough for someone to realize they were parked illegally and then call you for removal AND THEN THE TIME IT TOOK YOU TO DRIVE THERE!
Should that ever happen to us (my son and I), I would have to have a cab because with spinal issues, I don't walk well. I sure hope I never do anything that stupid. Not that I don't make mistakes, but that would be a hard one for me. I just don't understand people who either cannot or will not read the signs that are plainly there! We have always had to work very hard for the things we have, so we have a tendency to take very good care of those things, such as vehicles. I would probably have a hard time coming up with the cash money, but I would get it because we pay our bills! Unexpected expenses are always hard to come by, but we've managed but the Good Lord has always provided for us. Great video, Jeff and Kristen! You two work very hard, and it sort of jerks my chain the wrong way when people are outraged over tow fees or drop fees. May God continue to bless you and yours always!
Jeff: Gatlinburg needs to put bill boards on every road coming into town stating ( if you're not paying to park your doing something wrong). Love the videos
Think Jeff and family should have tshirts n sweatshirts made with that saying and EA under the quote. Id buy one Have gatlinburg like a typical town tourist or college name sone up, then the quote under it in smaller but still large letters. Oh yeah… or gatlinburg on front and that quote on back

State wrecker criteria could have rules against that, this doesn’t apply to every state but some states like Virginia have a law in the code that tow trucks have to follow which prohibits lengthy release process. I.E towing a vehicle on Friday, and the owner calls on Friday you have to release it on Friday or you could face fines and possible court proceedings from the state for breaking the rules and not following code, if the owner reports you.

I would like to see how the illegal parkers would feel if you parked in their driveway while they are at work or out and then tell them we were only 5 minutes. Betcha they wouldn't like it too much.
My neighbor across the street used to have massive garage sales. Our street only has parking on the south side but people would park on both sides rather than walk an extra block, reducing the street to one lane. One day I came home and a truck was parked *in front* of my driveway. He tried to say his wife just wanted to "run over there" for a minute. Well, it was 20 minutes before the police got there to give him several citations.
On my next trip to Gatlinburg, I'm bringing a yellow safety vest, with a name tag that says my name is "They". Then I'll visit all the private parking lots and tell people that if they aren't paying to park then they are doing something wrong.
