  • I recently put some new tools and an ARB Air Compressor in the recessed cubby in the back of my Jeep JL Wrangler I call Newbsock. On this episode I'll add a locking steel cover from Tuffy Products to protect the gear from walking away, and give more space to keep the compressor cool.

Fred, if you'll slide your jack to the left side of that cubby and then twist the "nut" to raise it, it locks into place and doesn't rattle around. Then you can fit a couple of soft shackles, small tool roll, or something else in there.

Can you modify that tray to fit under the lid? For those that think the lock is not heavy duty, realize this for snatch and grab thieves. Just like the locks on your house doors they don't stand up to serious thieves.

yes actually i went back and cut the ends of the tray and it now fits under the cover no problem

You’re going to fix that out of square tie down, right? Right?!?

Just wondering… Does the rear hatch door rest on the lid when you close it? Essentially adding a little more security as long as the hatch is locked.

$240 is a bit pricey for the lid though but i like their complete bed cover or whatever they call it but still a bit pricey

    What lift is on Newbsock?

The only people that that cover is keeping out is you when you lose the key. It definitely looks more sturdy than the fiber board that came from the factory. I would buy it on that alone.

Pretty sure my crowbar would pop that lock in about 2 seconds. But I guess it is better than nothing.

Hey only 250 bucks for flimsy metal that’s “better than nothing” and only costs you your window hardware storage and your entire backseat??

Who needs a crowbar. My 95 year old arthritic grandmother could pry that open with her bare hands

Your crow bar would also smash a window in 2 seconds. It's all just a deterrent 🤷🏼‍♂️
