  • This is the WT32 Quad Ethernet Controller. We will review the setup process for this new and simple device. It runs off of the WLED firmware and is perfectly compatible with xLights via E1.31 Ethernet data or DDP protocol. xLights controller upload works well as we show during the demo. No Raspberry Pi or Beagle Bone Black is required. You will need a 5v power input to run the electronics from the board. A separate power distribution board is required to run power to the pixels (plenty of examples are cited in the video). This means you can run either 5v or 12v pixels.
    The video is broken into 2 parts. The first 30 minutes is dedicated to the the Quad board's product information, and setup with xLights. The second part of the video was a rather lively and deep discussion of the options and use-cases this controller has. This includes Amazon Alexa compatibility, as well as year-round "smart" options for inside and outside your home. That's what makes this an interesting and fun board to play with for any light/RGB pixel project.

    No clue why I’m so late to this but I was trying to figure out good ways to mount my silly WT32-ETH01 board to an ElectroCookie but seeing this now, I’m gonna have to get some. I’m also in Utah, might have to see if I can come pick up haha.

    Works great connected direct to xlights. Having trouble getting it to connect to fpp. It says cannot ping. Any advice?

    To the best of my knowledge, as far as the amount of pixels that can be used ( WLED as of now is set to a max of 9 universes ( 1530 pixels ) per instance. Using WLED set up with DDP in xlights, my friend has controlled 2360 pixels in a matrix and I have done 2000.

      2000 pixels via DDP is unbelievably reasonable for a $40 pixel controller. I know we had talked about 500 per output, and many of us won't go over 200 or 300. Thanks for the comment, I'm excited to do a build with the 2 I purchased and add to my show.

      @@PixelProDisplays I use Quinled's Dig-Uno's and Dig-Quad's with esp32's, In my 3rd year light show ( 10,000 5 volt pixels ) But the amazing thing ( either Quin boards or the board you showed ) is the WLED firmware ( by Aircookie ) It has a ton of its own effects and color pallets ( that Keith Westly just put in xlights 2022.4 ) WLED allows you to set on-off times, and config relay pins. If you have the right set up, you can have your lights dance to music in real time ( with LedFx ) As the board you showed and Quinled's boards with WLED, takes our lights to another level and more opportunity to use them!

      @@rosscastona7809 I had never heard of those new boards considering we've been using Sandevice, Joshua J1Sys, Falcon, Pixlite16, and AlphaPix controllers since 2012. It's always interesting to learn about new controllers and new options :)

    a POE ethernet board would be awesome so we dont need to provide the 5V for the board.

      From what Brandon has told me, there will be a buck converter update to the hat. That will allow for either 5v or 12v to be connected. I already have a few buck converters and also use 5v. But yeah, POE might be nice. Not sure if using POE would affect other controllers on the network which don't require it?

    Does it works with software such as Madrix or MadMapper using sACN?

    • @PixelProDisplays
      @PixelProDisplays  2 года назад

      As long as those software have the ability to output data via e1.31. There is no Artnet support that I'm aware of.

      @@PixelProDisplays Any time that I add a link or url my post disappeared. Rules maybe? Anyway. If you check by the name here in RUclips Dig-quad you find a lot of info. Or his site.

    dose any one have a link to the Power distribution board like the one in the video

      If you have Amazon, I think this is probably the best value for the $22 as far as power distribution goes.

    How do you use 12 v power to pixels

    • @PixelProDisplays
      @PixelProDisplays  8 месяцев назад

      You would run the 12v + / - to a power distribution board and the data would come from the controller... The controller only runs 5v. But, this was his offering from 2 years ago and may have made updates to his board to run 12v? Not sure.

    Can i use this for a Mega Tree?

    • @PixelProDisplays
      @PixelProDisplays  Год назад

      Yes in can be used for any pixel prop. I personally don't like to run more than 200 pixels on an output to prevent the need for power injection.
