Steph's teammates are more willing to pass Steph the ball not only because he's a prolific scorer, but that Steph has far more experienced and talented teammates around him that can get him good looks. He'll get screen after screen, and then another screen before he has just enough space to shoot. @@MOGE_ not necessarily. mid range is harder to shoot esp considering it'll be highly contested. More lower bod strength and elevation is needed to hit tough jumper's inside the paint. And almost 90% of mid range shots will be contested. Kyrie is one of those very few players capable of doing this. Not very many guards in the league shoot the middy like Kyrie. Usually larger sf and sg's like kd, derozan, dbook and Middleton shoot it cause it's easier for them. Steph's one motion is not suitable for the midrange game hence the reason he resorts to driving to the bucket or working on scoop layups or floaters :)
Long story short: Playing with Curry is like partying for a whole year while Playing with Kyrie feels like you’re a janitor to clean up his mess when he messes up
Steph's ability to hit 3s consistently is one of the reasons. Another reason is the system of the team. Warriors love motion offense. Everyone is consistently moving, cutting, and setting off ball screen. Offense likes this usually benefits shooter the most. Steph doesn't need to run the show all the time. Everyone is always moving to create a good look for each other/shooters. On the other hand, Kyrie has a lot more load on him offensively. He is a ball dominant guard, but he could definitely could learn to play under the warriors system. Both of them are great players tho. Love em both!
Kyrie CHOOSES to have more load on him. The Celtics offense isn't supposed to be isolation. Brad Stevens wants his team to move the ball and be efficient. If you really want to find the difference between Steph and Kyrie, it's in the decision making.
Kerr needs more credit, his plays and team strategy laid the groundwork for all those threes and drives. Curry may be legendary, but its 50% screens and off ball movement. (And obviously a shoutout to the whole team)
How is this even an debate, Steph is by far the better player. Steph doesn't look for hard shots and isos because he realizes that getting a good shot would be more beneficial for his team. Steph is also similar to Shaq in a way where they draw so much attention from the defense that they create easy opportunities for their teammates. Honestly Steph might even be better then Kyrie at isos. He doesn't have the same handles or other worldly finishing That Kyrie has but because of his shooting defenders have to get so tight that it gives him easier blow by opportunities.!
Bruno Caboclo steph handles and finishing are easily as good as kyrie his handles are way more effective while kyrie is flashier and his finishing for someone whose 6’3 and not really athletic is spectacular
Shawn Valverde more like a logical person that criticizes someone else's game not out of malice but instead he thinks one player is better than another.
I'm from the "less is more" school of thought, and "get the best results with the least effort" camp as well. Watching Kyrie, while entertaining, is (for the most part) tiring. The way he whirls and steps away and whirls again is like watching the Tasmanian Devil from Looney Tunes chase his target.
Most videos like these are just the person's opinion, you actually broke it down perfectly. Good video. In my opinion Kyrie has a Kobe Bryant skill set with better handles but is shorter. Kobe could score without exerting alot of energy. Kyrie being a few inches shorter makes it hard for him to get that clean look whenever he wants so he uses more dribbles and finesse which looks great but isn't doing anything for his team mates
‘Currently’. That doesn’t change the fact that Kyrie is the most skilled offensive player in the league. The game is really mental rn, last year Ky had a great season.
Because as much as Steph keeps winning with he's team... when he plays against Kyrie you can't even say you will win the Matchup honestly those two is a real toss up head to head
I'm not even sure he's a pure PG. He's more like a SG that occasionally handles the ball with how much he plays off the ball. He's certainly top 3 all time PG
Kyrie has the greatest handles I’ve ever seen. But if I were a coach I would definitely not teach my players to play like him. Him doing all those unnecessary dribbles can be totally energy wasting. Curry has good ball handling skills but it’s nothing too flashy. It’s efficient and does just enough damage with at least half the energy.
Man thats a great look. I wonder what would it be if kyrie were coached by steve kerr or some other coach that would made him play less ISO-ball and look for more off ball oportunities
A I think he meant natural talent. Some players are just natural at playing the game and others get there through more practices and dedication. Think of someone like Kobe who most agree did not have the sort of natural talent that players like shaq had but got there through insane work ethic. I’m not sure if there is actually a distinction since all great players have to practice but in saying this is what HE was trying to say. That kyrie is more naturally talented player whereas steph is more calculated. though, as the video goes on to suggest, is the better player,
Steph could have developed his efficient playstyle because earlier in his career he was injury prone. Kyrie could get away with more physical contact due to his innate tenacity.
@@javerjimbau6309 What does innate tenacity have anything to do with injuries lmao, the injury is not psychological but physical. If you twist your ankle no amount of "innate tenacity" is going to make you better. Kobe was also a persistent iso player, played tough until his body gave up near his old age. Kyrie might just end up the same way if not earlier than Kobe.
Great breakdown. I believe that the fact that steph moves without the ball wayyy more than kyrie gets him so many wide open catch and shoot shots and where defenders have to close out which makes it easier to get to the bucket
Great video. If I remember correctly, Steph was coached to play like a classic off-ball shooting guard on offense by Steve Kerr. Mark Jackson was using him more like a traditional PG & expect him to run the entire offense (like CP3). It helps Steph that his entire team is built to maximize his talent. The team is full of great shooters (Klay, KD), passers (Green, Iggy), and athletic finishers/cutters (all the Hamptons 5) that open up Curry's entire game.
Steph is just better, Kyrie choked hard a whole series against the Bucks while Curry showed up big in game 5 and 6 when it mattered the most against harder competition
You not wrong, but this is Kyrie's first legit choke as the #1 option. While his method is harder and more energy consuming, he has shown that he can compete with even the likes of Curry on the same lvl.
@@claycox1829 Kyrie choked both series he played as number 1 option, while curry carried his team to 2 consecutive finals appearances as the number 1 option. its as simple as that kid.
I would argue that the energy exersion is near enough the same, curry does not stop moving until he manifests good looks - hence 40% of shots with 0 dribbles required - kyrie on the other hand really thrives off the pick and iso, so whilst their styles are different, their individual styles are exhausting
I notice that you left out the fact that Curry has Durant and Klay, two great shooters, on either side of him which prevents the defense from overloading to him. Something Kyrie doesn't have.
@@RumbleFighterSolid On losing teams where his numbers had absolutely no impact on winning. Empty numbers... He also averaged 8.5 pts, 6.8 rbs on 36% shooting when the Cavs won the title. He's not a factor on a good team.
@@anirudhnataraj3729 I don't know if this is a true statement but I'll just leave it here...."Anonymous Celtics Player Roasts Kyrie Irving: “He’s Hard To Play With”"
Kyrie plays the same way Harden and LeBron play, whereby their success comes at the expense of others. Steph plays in a way where everyone gets better playing with him, even though the stats don't show it.
lol these comments. I think many are missing the point: BOTH players are amazing and all-time great talents, this wasn't to shade one player over another like many of you are attempting to do. They have different skill sets, different talents, and different playstyles.
It's not that Curry gives up the ball and 'trusts' he will get it back, it' that it is an integral part of the Warrior motion offense that his teammates will move to get out of his way and draw their defenders with them and while they look for Steph. It's the beauty of Warrior basketball. Someone will say 'Steph single handedly took over the 4th quarter', but if you watch the highlight closely the whole Warrior team is shifting and moving while Steph is moving for that pass back to him. That game 6 -4th quarter against the Rockets was a thing of beauty. While Draymond is doing a pick and roll on the right side Jerebko and Cook are running screens against their defenders and moving around but not messing up good spacing. Steph is the perfect guy for the system he is in.
How much you drive for 2 or just shoot for 3 would depend on team/game strategy. Coaches and players have to know the matchups and who is shooting well and how the defense is shifted to take away X, giving you Y. If your favorite strategy wins, then great. But, if the other side adjusts, you have to know what you can do to overcome that. It pays to have players who can adjust in multiple ways!
This is another great breakdown video. I was wondering could you guys do a one for point Guard that was something of a precursor to Steph and Kyrie in Stephon Marbury. Would really love a attention to detail breakdown of the Coney Island Point Guard's whole game. Thanks for the great vids!!! Great Work!!!
To me this seems to be the reason IT scored more in Brad Stevens offense. Kept his game simple, great off the ball. When Kyrie initially got traded to the C’s thought he was gonna average 30
Irving is a very efficient player in his own right. Curry is one of the best offensive players ever. But Irving just averaged 24 ppg on 48/40/87 shooting splits. Reading the comments and seeing people act like he's trash is frustrating. Also, he had a higher assist rate than Curry, Paul, Harden, Lillard, Kemba, and Simmons. So people need to quit acting like he's not a point guard.
FACTS Kyrie had a career year leading the Celtics and they had their own injury problems throughout the year too. Big egos from the young guys after last postseason really got to them after game 3 in Boston. Such a shame, they actually played best when Kyrie was averaging 20pts, 11ast
@@shauryanathanmathur4294 Thank you. Twitter, especially, is an infuriating place to be for a Kyrie fan like myself. I would like him to stay in Boston because I think it's the best situation going forward, but seeing how the fanbase talks about him I half want him to leave. Was he the best leader? No. But there's blame to be passed around. The team isn't one guy. And whatever you think of his off-court comments, they were much better with him on the court by the numbers.
Huge Kyrie fan right here, but I do think Steph is significantly better. Here is what I think Curry is better at than Kyrie: 3s in general (catch and shoot, off the dribble etc.), defense (kyrie has good on ball defense but gets lost a lot), efficiency which stems from the ability to shoot. Here what I think is comparable: passing (both have good passing game, Kyrie with more flare, but Steph with more willingness in a ball movement system at GSW). Lastly, what I think Kyrie is better than Curry at: Mid range (only because he takes more, efficiency wise, their quite similar), handling (Curry has amazing handles, but Kyrie is a just a little bit better e.g. 9/9.5 vs 10 out of 10), finishing at the rim/taking contact (Curry has great finishes, but Kyrie has that creativity advantage). Overall, I would take Curry to base my team around but I am still a hardcore Kyrie fan ahaha.
Matty Gee kyrie is the more talented and skilled scorer (currys crazy talented and skilled too) and I’d take kyrie iso over curry iso but if I wanna win I’d take curry over kyrie
Biggest Kyrie fan there is, hope he finds great success wherever he ends up next season, wish he would incorporate more Steph like things into his game, simple things like this video talked about could get him to that MVP level so lets see what happens

He's a very passionate sophomore & this video makes this point bright for young players that need to understand this fact/aspect of the game📚✏🔒📈🎒🙏
The reason why Curry is always dropping players on their asses is because they’re always coming with one thing in mind “ he’s going to shoot” and when they’re coming to block a shot, there’s no balance and that’s when curry drives.
Curry is a point guard who doesn't need to dribble the ball to score 30, but he has top 5 handles in the league and is great at passing and isn't selfish. That's basically impossible to find in another player.

Steph is also a great midrange shooter way back on his rookie season
i mean if he can sink it 30ft out then surely he can do 18ft
@@teamirving.11Steph is automatic from mid range tho what you mean is kyrie shoots 2 motion shots when needed from mid range
@@sarsvfx yeah exactly my point. Steph has no jumpa in the middy lol. Can’t shoot two motion and resorts to alternative ways of scoring
Long story short:
Playing with Curry is like partying for a whole year while
Playing with Kyrie feels like you’re a janitor to clean up his mess when he messes up
damn straight
At the end of the day it's always a great game when these 2 go head to head.🏀🔥🔥
If you really want to find the difference between Steph and Kyrie, it's in the decision making.
well.. he didnt in celtics system
AKFortyDevan have steph and kyrie switch teams steph won't get farther than kyrie with the celtics lol.
Ray Cutler sureeee
Shaun Boi you really think steph would get far with that celtics team?? Be honest
This channel is the basketball content we need 😤😤
Kerr needs more credit, his plays and team strategy laid the groundwork for all those threes and drives. Curry may be legendary, but its 50% screens and off ball movement. (And obviously a shoutout to the whole team)
Steph is the most complete offensive player, no one can shoot, finish, dribble, move off ball and pass like he can
I enjoy and appreciate Curry's game more.
@Shawn Valverde none of your business pussy
@@linhe6729 whoa language
Bruno Caboclo spot on!
Shawn Valverde more like a logical person that criticizes someone else's game not out of malice but instead he thinks one player is better than another.
Kyrie is definitely better iso scorer.
Lol yeah steph better but when they matchup vs each other kyrie will win the matchup one of those wierd things
Man, you know your stuff...keep it up!
Kyrie's world is flat, Steph's world is round.
Sorry, modern basketball is all about IQ

Most videos like these are just the person's opinion, you actually broke it down perfectly. Good video. In my opinion Kyrie has a Kobe Bryant skill set with better handles but is shorter. Kobe could score without exerting alot of energy. Kyrie being a few inches shorter makes it hard for him to get that clean look whenever he wants so he uses more dribbles and finesse which looks great but isn't doing anything for his team mates
You dropped the mic. STEPH >>> KYRIE.
Kyrie is great, but steph's on another level.
Kyrie should be compared to Kemba
w00t777 nah, Ky’s definitely on Curry’s level. His ability to finish in the paint (at 6’3”) is so far above any other PG’s
@@kevindibassinga Lillard is currently playing better than Kyrie and even he isn't on Curry's level...
‘Currently’. That doesn’t change the fact that Kyrie is the most skilled offensive player in the league. The game is really mental rn, last year Ky had a great season.
w00t777 he’s better than Curry so hush
Kevin D yeah and when both healthy they’re neck and neck. Curry’s still better...
Curry>>> kyrie
Idk why people think kyrie is better curry arguably the best point guard of all time
Brayan Bravo he isn’t the best pg ever not even close tbh
alex cruz what are ur facts to argue that? Not even a steph fan just curious
Because as much as Steph keeps winning with he's team... when he plays against Kyrie you can't even say you will win the Matchup honestly those two is a real toss up head to head
He’s already the second best point guard of all time and might finish as the best ever once he retires
I'm not even sure he's a pure PG. He's more like a SG that occasionally handles the ball with how much he plays off the ball. He's certainly top 3 all time PG
Great content material once again , definitely giving us ideas for new content on our channel 🤯. . . Can't wait to see more !
It's just not team ball. Uncle Drew is the ballpark.
Man thats a great look. I wonder what would it be if kyrie were coached by steve kerr or some other coach that would made him play less ISO-ball and look for more off ball oportunities
When I heard "Kyrie may have more talent" I was out
A I think he meant natural talent. That kyrie is more naturally talented player whereas steph is more calculated. though, as the video goes on to suggest, is the better player,
He's right kyrie has more aspects to his game but steph scores more with five threes compared to kyries five mid ranges think about it
Love the consistency!!!
Curry all day any day over kyrie. Kyrie style of play is not sustainable = injuries.
Off the ball movement. Like you said he sets more screens and moves without the ball 10x more.
@@trollking4058 he didnt do good against pacers either he had 1 good game.
Curry choked a whole series against Kyrie when they blew a 3-1 lead and Kyrie outplayed Curry so what’s your point?

@@RumbleFighterSolid He did do good against the Pacers. If anything, he had one bad game that series.
Curry averaged 30/7/5 on 50/45/90 with only klay. And you're forgetting kyrie also played with lebron and love. 0 excuses.

New vid let’s go!
Thanks for this vid I’m an 8th grade star coming out of a shadow and I’m working on how to get best of both worlds with these two amazing olayers
Should do a Dame vs Steph breakdown overall game

I like your anatomy of this very good work dear keep up the good work people see a lot of things you see very well of Steph 👍
Steph for sure, but i dont know why i dont like the shooting gesture of steph but he shoots well
To me this seems to be the reason IT scored more in Brad Stevens offense. Kept his game simple, great off the ball. When Kyrie initially got traded to the C’s thought he was gonna average 30
That’s on kyrie everybody assumed that. He tried to become a playmaker instead of becoming this generations a.i
Irving is a very efficient player in his own right.
FACTS
Kyrie had a career year leading the Celtics and they had their own injury problems throughout the year too.
Great Video!!!

The only reason people think kyrie is better than steph is because he has flashy handles.
Beautiful other then perfect breakdown
Hey guys can you breakdown a bodyweight or exercises program for basketball players? Like with sets and reps.
The reason why Curry is always dropping players on their asses is because they’re always coming with one thing in mind “ he’s going to shoot” and when they’re coming to block a shot, there’s no balance and that’s when curry drives.
Great vid
Curry is a point guard who doesn't need to dribble the ball to score 30, but he has top 5 handles in the league and is great at passing and isn't selfish. That's basically impossible to find in another player.
