Goku is no hero he is a fighter with a pure of heart, he is one of most legendary Saiyan warriors in history, he fights to protect his friends and family, but he is not a true saving the universe and all living things on it type of hero like his son Gohan and of course Future Trunks.

Trunks is what happens when you can't screw around because actions have consequences. Trunks doesn't have magic wish orbs to fix things when he messes up because of pride, ego or a desire to be a good hearted person to his enemies. He messes up, it's all over. He's all the Earth has. He doesn't have connections with gods and those above them just handed to him. There's no rewind power, no hakai to make the bad man go away on the whim of a cat when you bribe him with ramen, no button to summon the greatest monster in all the multiverse to pull his bacon from the fire. He can't just pull nebulous """""potential""""" out his butt for the sake of plot armor. His original intention was to go back in time and prevent all of this from ever happening. He believed that, if things worked out, that he as he was then would cease to exist. He tried to ensure that he himself existed by not saying who he was, but for all he knew, the changes to the timeline could mean that he wouldn't exist. Period. But he still tried it, and when it became clear that his future couldn't change, he still remained. He could have just left then, he could have just left when he found the plans to 17 and 18. But he didn't. He felt a moral obligation to help these people, especially when they found his time machine. Trunks truly is the hero we don't deserve.
My favorite character. Human enough to care about the safety of others, but Saiyan enough to keep improving himself to become stronger. He has the drive, he has the power. He is THAT GUY. He is HIM. He is THE MOMENT.
Future Trunks only flaws is not of his own fault. He's usually held back by other characters when it comes to decision-making (Cell would've die way sooner if it was up to him) and his inexperience just comes from the lack of battles and training properly which is also not his fault either
I'd like a mini series consisting of future trunks, piccolo, and yajirobe exploring the demon realm where dabura is from. I think the characters would all balance each other out with strategy, heroic power, and comedy.

I've always had multiple characters in the series as my favorite for different reasons, but future Trunks always rises to that #1 spot because I realized the same things illustrated in this video by the end of the Cell saga. That Trunks is the greatest hero in Dragon Ball history.
Future Trunks doesn't let his pride or desire to fight get in the way of what needs to be done. He is always focusing on finishing off evil threats on the spot. He defeated Frieza easily while Super Saiyan Goku had a long long long fight with Frieza. Then after getting stronger in the present timeline trying to deal with present Cell who already absorbed the Androids partially due to Vegeta's pride but in the end got defeated by SSJ2 Gohan, Future Trunks went back to his timeline & wasted no time destroying 17 & 18 which left Future Cell with nothing to absorb to reach his final form & Future Trunks destroyed Future Cell as well. In DBS, it was revealed that Future Trunks even handled the Majin Buu problem better than the Z fighters did in the present timeline. In the present Majin Buu was resurrected due to Goku & Majin Vegeta putting out so much power, Buu went through many transformations & absorbtions, earth was destroyed, but ultimately in the end, the good Buu was redeemed & the evil Buu was destroyed, but got reincarnated into Uub. Future Trunks on the other hand straight up destroyed Dabura & Babidi with prevented Future Majin Buu from ever bring born in the future timeline. Future Trunks successfully destroyed all the Major Z villain from Frieza to Cell to Buu. But sadly, those accomplishments amounted into absolutely NOTHING when the evil impostor called Goku Black came who was Zamasu, a Kai who took a Goku's body with a wish from the Super Dragon Balls, killed Future Bulma, terrorized the future timeline worse than the Androids ever did & revealed Super Saiyan Rose, a power too strong for Future Trunks to deal with. To make matters worse, another Zamasu came to aid the evil Super Saiyan Rose in his quest to destroy the mortals & this Zamasu was made completely Invincible meaning he could never be killed or even take any damage PERIOD. Worst of all the Zamasus fuse into a near perfect entity with both Invincibility & the power of Super Saiyan Rose. Even though Future Trunks destroyed Fusion Zamasu's body due to him being only half immortal, that half immortal side used his power to take over the whole future universe & completely destroy future earth. In the end, the present Goku used a button to summon Zeno, the TRUE perfect entity to erase the Zamasu infected universe forcing Future Trunks to escape to the present he saved. Now completely homeless Future Trunks was given a new timeline to go live in where there's another version of himself thanks to Whis.
Future Trunks is definitely the greatest hero in Dragon Ball. Your talking points are definitely true and Future Trunks definitely takes every situation serious in order to prevent a second 17 and 18 situation
Trunk's mentality is crazy ideal for a Super Hero I'm biased towards the Dragon Ball Super Manga Cell Saga (anime and manga) he questioned why not give Goku a senzu, or jump Cell during the Cell Games. He basically said "Ef honor, we need a future" Zamasu Arc (manga) I LOVE how he had no chill. When Zamasu and Goku Black were unfusing but tried to maintain the fusion, he lunged at them. They knocked him back. He charged from behind and split them in half, Goku and Vegeta were surprised, but he quickly stabbed Goku Black in the heart. He was/is TIRED of despair and danger, he wants peace 😂 there is no honor, it's live as a group or die
His the greatest hero in Dragonball and the writiers don't know what to do with him properly, because he destroys their plot of illogical consistencies, emotional and genetic influences and canonistic flaws. Trunks literally has the power to not only re-correct the timeline, but to also make Dragonball seamless lol.

Tien wouldn't just kick Frieza's ass and then boast about it in the middle of the fight. He'd just do it. He's humble, disciplined, and will do the right thing by any means necessary.
Vegeta shouldn't even be discussed here. The guy is straight up antagonist throught Z. He's the cause of all the problems: all of the Saiyan and Namek saga is straight up on him; bluffing at Android 20 causing him to flee and active 17&18; Cell reaching perfection; Gohan getting injured against Cell; Buu being hatched.
@@JJJJ-he8bz Frieza wouldn't have even gone to Namek had he not overheard Vegeta's encounter on Earth through the scouter. Which Vegeta would've known about since he himself heard about the DBalls through the scouter when Raditz was there. Also, the Earthlings wouldn't need to go to Namek either because none of them would be dead, including Piccolo/Kami. Namek would've continued to live in peace, no visitors, if Vegeta didn't get involved.
He does had wins over Frieza, Android 17 & 18, and also Cell, and he did stop Majin buu from being free and killed Dabura, and what does get get for thay his mother dying and his timeline erased
To be honest though, characters accepting the challenge of letting the villains get going is the whole reason they even were able to survive long term. For example, everyone gives Vegeta crap about not wanting to off Gero early before he built the androids. But if the Z Fighters did that, they would've never gained the strength needed to survive the future arcs. Buu would never even need to stomp them because Dabura would've killed them first. Even Goku admits that Dabura would've been a problem around the time they had fought Cell, and if they had never built the power to fight Cell because Cell never was able to advance they would never have the power to combat Dabura either let alone Buu.
6:58 Yes this is very relative to Trunks’s case, Goku meets the only member of his family who is alive and his first wish is not to kill him, Trunks sees some androids killing innocent people, and how Gohan fights them and they barely survive. Goku's brother begs Goku to let him go because he promised to leave the planet, and Goku finds enough mercy in himself to let his brother go, and in the end pays the price of his mistake and sacrifices himself, Trunks loses Gohan and swears to avenge him, and does the same as Gohan which is non stop challenging androids and barely coming home alive every time, until he starts time traveling. Yes these are really relative things to compare, of course since we’re comparing Trunks to others.
man dude you heap a LOT of praise on a guy who really doesn't deserve it. His greatest achievement leads to the eradication his entire timeline, which means trunks isn't JUST responsible for all the lives on earth that were lost, but also for the lives of the entire universe that existed in that separate timeline. Like, think about this for a second, worst case scenario if trunks never went back in time, cell would have blown up the planet...which is bad, but at least the rest of the universe survives.
It wasn't his fault directly. Kaioshin was killed in combat, and remembering that he was suffering a lot to face Dabura who was much stronger than him, there was no way he could protect Kaioshin because it would be the same as what happened to Future Gohan himself when he fought the androids together with Trunks. He was the only one who had the power to try to do something at the time, Trunks simply has no real responsibility for the death of Kaioshin and consequently Beerus, and even so he did everything he could to save his timeline. The plot simply screwed him over, poorly written in short.
@clericofchaos1 I think it's more Kaioshin's fault than Trunks's, but in the end it's a consequence all the same. Trunks should have been better trained, but unfortunately the plot needed to rush for the saga to happen.
It's funny having your 2 favorite characters in all of Dragon Ball being 2 people who handle things very differently. I love Goku and the journey you go on with him throughout his entire life in OG Dragon Ball and Z, but Trunks? He isn't around for long, but his story, character, and design is just so damn good.
5:06 This has nothing to do with heroism, the only thing Trunks has shown is that first of all he is very impulsive, and cannot control his emotions because he himself knows that the androids are more powerful than him, and they were not unprepared they literally looked at him and were ready for that attack, and this just shows how other characters are more careful than Trunks because they don't attack blindly like idiots as soon as they see their opponents, when they don’t even know how powerful the androids are yet.
Trunks is same as his mother Bulma but with Saiyan Traits of a Fighter. Basically he is more balanced, between being Human and a Saiyan. Because Saiyans they don't protect the Earth but... they conquered OR destroy it for entertainment so they can keep fighting. Goku and Vegeta protects Earth cuz they learn from friends such as Bulma, Krillin, Master Roshi and others. Trunks is Half Human and Half Saiyan so.... he has more Morals and common sense than Goku and Vegeta.
I do think that future Trunks is a more heroic character than most of the characters in dragonball. In fact, in many aspects, he's a better hero than the main protagonist Goku, but there are aspects in which Goku was a better hero than future Trunks. While future Trunks is more willing to stop the villains when he has a chance, Goku does an overall better job against villains than future Trunks does. There are reasons why Goku is the go to hero of dragonball, and not future Trunks. Maybe future Trunks is more willing to do what needs to be done to save people, but Goku is the one who makes it possible for the job to get done, while future Trunks has sadly failed to get the job done when it was too much for him. That doesn't take away from future Trunks' hero status, but it does show some of his failings as a hero. Future Trunks can still be a better hero than everyone else in dragonball, but I still think that Goku is the best overall hero despite his flaws.

The fact that he stopped Buu from reviving by following the instructions of supreme kai to kill Debura and Bibidi and it ended up with Goku Black just rising to power because his opps just died in that battle except for Trunks is just sad af.

What are the best things I like about the future trunks, He does not allow his enemy to power up. Like you said, he kills on command. Also, Future trunks and Gohan are half Saiyans and are not bloodthirsty fighters, so him and modern day Gohan so they're not going to waste time. They just gonna go for the kill right away.

Call me biased but future trunks is by far the best character in the dragon ball verse in terms of just overall progression. The zamasu arc is some of if not the best written work from dragon ball in general.
Trunks wasnt allowed to be great because of the writing. The entire Android arc should've focused in him more, especially when he's the reason the entire arc happened. After Cell became perfect then it should've switched focus in Gohan and his potential.
Without Trunks ,the world would just be done. 17 and 18 would have their way, Cell would eventually get them and have his way. That's it. Done deal. Goku was meant to die from the virus and that's that. He may have been the strongest but not against that virus, sadly. Thanks to Bulma, actually. She's the true hero in all of this.

Everyone stans for Future Gohan and yes he was probably the biggest badass in DB but he ultimately couldn't live up to defeat 17 and 18. Most DragonBall fans are idiots that only care how strong a character is. If a character is not the strongest (Goku, Vegeta, or Gohan) then they are trash to them... even though characters like Piccolo and Trunks are some of the best written.
To be fair, Future Gohan is almost as well written as Trunks. He's a great character, even though he doesn't have the power to actually win his crusade for peace, but he passed his war on to Trunks. The real problem is that a good part of the Dragon Ball fanbase only cares about power or fights. If it's not strong, it's trash to them, and they don't care much about writing or storytelling.
Goku's forgiveness and not wanting to end Gero would be good if he was smart about it. Going to Gero and delivering a warning or something... it would probably rank him above piccolo in terms of being heroic in my book.
Future Trunks is probably one of the biggest victims of bad writing in Dragonball because it’s not nessacarily him as a character that’s bad, it’s the story that Akira wrote that fucked him over. Akira had 0 idea of what he was doing post Freiza.
Kind of off topic but I hate how kid trunks still looks like a kid in super. He should look as old as future trunks looked when future gohan died. Future gohan died in age 780 and the goku black arc/ tournament of power takes place roughly in age 780 as well lol. Thankfully, super hero finally made him look his age which I heard takes place around age 782-783 roughly since it was slightly before end of z(age 784 when we see goku with the blue gi).
What I hate about super Goku and yeah I say super Goku is his poor rationale for decisions . Resurrection F should have been enough of a reason for Goku to NOT WANT FREIZA ALIVE AGAIN. Yet just for him to fight a stronger Frieza again and for them needing another fighter after that Majin Buu shit, he goes and asks for Frieza to return from the dead again for a day to replace Buu. Granted it was Beerus that gave Frieza back his life had Goku not decided to get Frieza and then tell everyone about what he was doing after Frieza arrived, made Goku one very irresponsible hero who selfishly rather satisfies his desire to fight than think collectively. At least super dragon ball has made him this way. Sad to see this regression
@QaamansLand your timing on this video just so happened to coincide with me beating the trunks DLC where In which I too felt that Trunks truly is the best hero in Dragonball. Before I watched the vid, I assumed you was gonna mention the dlc.
Trunks' major flaw was being too focused on proving himself to Vegeta, but he'd have killed semi-perfect Cell quickly if he fought him first instead of Vegeta. Look at how quickly he killed the androids and Cell after he returned to the future. This would also make a good "what if" scenario: DBZ would end 50 episodes sooner, Goku wouldn't have to sacrifice himself, and Gohan wouldn't have turned ssj2 during this fight since the Cell Games wouldn't have happened...
Ok this bothers me for years with the later Dragonball z movies. Goku turns super Saiyan ends cooler instantly right? So the who movie leading up to that point was practically useless because Goku he could of done that idk almost immediately and ended the movie in 10 minutes. Same here with gohon screws around in saj1 mostly whole movie knowing that the other ss. Vegeta trunks taken out quickly oh and piccolo. Then again goes ssj2 punches the underlings in half literally then takes out Bojack like he's nothing after the beatings the crew took from these guys.. so pretty much he didn't do that right away knowing he's friends himself and innocent bystanders are in trouble they need to be stopped. Now I know he don't like fighting and what not but still after cell he should be cool with taking a threat out right away instead of screwing around. My point is because Gohan could have one at the beginning the rest of the movie was pointless there basically just messing around getting there assess kicked for no reason well untill Gohan goes ssj2 and ends it.

Future Trunks doesn't let his pride or desire to fight get in the way of what needs to be done. He is always focusing on finishing off evil threats on the spot. He defeated Frieza easily while Super Saiyan Goku had a long long long fight with Frieza. Then after getting stronger in the present timeline trying to deal with present Cell who already absorbed the Androids partially due to Vegeta's pride but in the end got defeated by SSJ2 Gohan, Future Trunks went back to his timeline & wasted no time destroying 17 & 18 which left Future Cell with nothing to absorb to reach his final form & Future Trunks destroyed Future Cell as well.
In DBS, it was revealed that Future Trunks even handled the Majin Buu problem better than the Z fighters did in the present timeline. In the present Majin Buu was resurrected due to Goku & Majin Vegeta putting out so much power, Buu went through many transformations & absorbtions, earth was destroyed, but ultimately in the end, the good Buu was redeemed & the evil Buu was destroyed, but got reincarnated into Uub. Future Trunks on the other hand straight up destroyed Dabura & Babidi with prevented Future Majin Buu from ever bring born in the future timeline. Future Trunks successfully destroyed all the Major Z villain from Frieza to Cell to Buu. But sadly, those accomplishments amounted into absolutely NOTHING when the evil impostor called Goku Black came who was Zamasu, a Kai who took a Goku's body with a wish from the Super Dragon Balls, killed Future Bulma, terrorized the future timeline worse than the Androids ever did & revealed Super Saiyan Rose, a power too strong for Future Trunks to deal with. To make matters worse, another Zamasu came to aid the evil Super Saiyan Rose in his quest to destroy the mortals & this Zamasu was made completely Invincible meaning he could never be killed or even take any damage PERIOD. Worst of all the Zamasus fuse into a near perfect entity with both Invincibility & the power of Super Saiyan Rose. Even though Future Trunks destroyed Fusion Zamasu's body due to him being only half immortal, that half immortal side used his power to take over the whole future universe & completely destroy future earth. In the end, the present Goku used a button to summon Zeno, the TRUE perfect entity to erase the Zamasu infected universe forcing Future Trunks to escape to the present he saved. Now completely homeless Future Trunks was given a new timeline to go live in where there's another version of himself thanks to Whis.

Zamasu Arc (manga) I LOVE how he had no chill. When Zamasu and Goku Black were unfusing but tried to maintain the fusion, he lunged at them. They knocked him back. He charged from behind and split them in half, Goku and Vegeta were surprised, but he quickly stabbed Goku Black in the heart.
He was/is TIRED of despair and danger, he wants peace 😂 there is no honor, it's live as a group or die
His the greatest hero in Dragonball and the writiers don't know what to do with him properly, because he destroys their plot of illogical consistencies, emotional and genetic influences and canonistic flaws. Trunks literally has the power to not only re-correct the timeline, but to also make Dragonball seamless lol.
Ya know instead of super we almost got a show dedicated to trunks being the main character but Toei said nah and instead we got super. I’m forgetting a shit Ton of details, but for anyone wondering I would look it up, it’s a pretty neat detail onto what’s going on behind the scenes of dragon ball.
Tien wouldn't just kick Frieza's ass and then boast about it in the middle of the fight. He'd just do it. He's humble, disciplined, and will do the right thing by any means necessary.

Vegeta shouldn't even be discussed here. The guy is straight up antagonist throught Z. He's the cause of all the problems: all of the Saiyan and Namek saga is straight up on him; bluffing at Android 20 causing him to flee and active 17&18; Cell reaching perfection; Gohan getting injured against Cell; Buu being hatched.
They would have died without him in the namek saga. He distracted freiza
@@JJJJ-he8bz Frieza wouldn't have even gone to Namek had he not overheard Vegeta's encounter on Earth through the scouter. Which Vegeta would've known about since he himself heard about the DBalls through the scouter when Raditz was there.
Also, the Earthlings wouldn't need to go to Namek either because none of them would be dead, including Piccolo/Kami.
Namek would've continued to live in peace, no visitors, if Vegeta didn't get involved.
He does had wins over Frieza, Android 17 & 18, and also Cell, and he did stop Majin buu from being free and killed Dabura, and what does get get for thay his mother dying and his timeline erased

To be honest though, characters accepting the challenge of letting the villains get going is the whole reason they even were able to survive long term. For example, everyone gives Vegeta crap about not wanting to off Gero early before he built the androids. But if the Z Fighters did that, they would've never gained the strength needed to survive the future arcs. Buu would never even need to stomp them because Dabura would've killed them first. Even Goku admits that Dabura would've been a problem around the time they had fought Cell, and if they had never built the power to fight Cell because Cell never was able to advance they would never have the power to combat Dabura either let alone Buu.

6:58 Yes this is very relative to Trunks’s case, Goku meets the only member of his family who is alive and his first wish is not to kill him, Trunks sees some androids killing innocent people, and how Gohan fights them and they barely survive.
Goku's brother begs Goku to let him go because he promised to leave the planet, and Goku finds enough mercy in himself to let his brother go, and in the end pays the price of his mistake and sacrifices himself, Trunks loses Gohan and swears to avenge him, and does the same as Gohan which is non stop challenging androids and barely coming home alive every time, until he starts time traveling.
Yes these are really relative things to compare, of course since we’re comparing Trunks to others.
man dude you heap a LOT of praise on a guy who really doesn't deserve it. His greatest achievement leads to the eradication his entire timeline, which means trunks isn't JUST responsible for all the lives on earth that were lost, but also for the lives of the entire universe that existed in that separate timeline. Like, think about this for a second, worst case scenario if trunks never went back in time, cell would have blown up the planet...which is bad, but at least the rest of the universe survives.
It wasn't his fault directly. Kaioshin was killed in combat, and remembering that he was suffering a lot to face Dabura who was much stronger than him, there was no way he could protect Kaioshin because it would be the same as what happened to Future Gohan himself when he fought the androids together with Trunks.
He was the only one who had the power to try to do something at the time, Trunks simply has no real responsibility for the death of Kaioshin and consequently Beerus, and even so he did everything he could to save his timeline. The plot simply screwed him over, poorly written in short.

@clericofchaos1 I think it's more Kaioshin's fault than Trunks's, but in the end it's a consequence all the same. Trunks should have been better trained, but unfortunately the plot needed to rush for the saga to happen.

I love Goku and the journey you go on with him throughout his entire life in OG Dragon Ball and Z, but Trunks? He isn't around for long, but his story, character, and design is just so damn good.
5:06 This has nothing to do with heroism, the only thing Trunks has shown is that first of all he is very impulsive, and cannot control his emotions because he himself knows that the androids are more powerful than him, and they were not unprepared they literally looked at him and were ready for that attack, and this just shows how other characters are more careful than Trunks because they don't attack blindly like idiots as soon as they see their opponents, when they don’t even know how powerful the androids are yet.
Trunks is same as his mother Bulma but with Saiyan Traits of a Fighter.
Basically he is more balanced, between being Human and a Saiyan.
Because Saiyans they don't protect the Earth but... they conquered OR destroy it for entertainment so they can keep fighting.
Goku and Vegeta protects Earth cuz they learn from friends such as Bulma, Krillin, Master Roshi and others.
Trunks is Half Human and Half Saiyan so.... he has more Morals and common sense than Goku and Vegeta.

I do think that future Trunks is a more heroic character than most of the characters in dragonball. In fact, in many aspects, he's a better hero than the main protagonist Goku, but there are aspects in which Goku was a better hero than future Trunks. While future Trunks is more willing to stop the villains when he has a chance, Goku does an overall better job against villains than future Trunks does. There are reasons why Goku is the go to hero of dragonball, and not future Trunks. Maybe future Trunks is more willing to do what needs to be done to save people, but Goku is the one who makes it possible for the job to get done, while future Trunks has sadly failed to get the job done when it was too much for him. That doesn't take away from future Trunks' hero status, but it does show some of his failings as a hero. Future Trunks can still be a better hero than everyone else in dragonball, but I still think that Goku is the best overall hero despite his flaws.

Akira Toriyama has contradicted himself in his own story, and even forgotten parts of his own story, so despite him being the writer of dragonball's story, his words can't always be taken as gospel.

Goku's too soft, Vegeta was too ruthless, but Trunks was just right. He gets the job done without being a prick.,or,become arrogant likes Gohan.
The fact that he stopped Buu from reviving by following the instructions of supreme kai to kill Debura and Bibidi and it ended up with Goku Black just rising to power because his opps just died in that battle except for Trunks is just sad af.

What are the best things I like about the future trunks, He does not allow his enemy to power up. Like you said, he kills on command.
Also, Future trunks and Gohan are half Saiyans and are not bloodthirsty fighters, so him and modern day Gohan so they're not going to waste time. They just gonna go for the kill right away.
Without Future Trunks, the timeline we know would not survive the Androids or Cell & Goku would have died from the heart virus.

Reading the title I thought there’s no way because trunks always has to come back to vegeta and goku to ask for help and considering the events that happened in the goku black arc but damn the way u broke it down there aren’t really any great heroes in dragonball besides trunks 😂they are all way too flawed
Call me biased but future trunks is by far the best character in the dragon ball verse in terms of just overall progression. The zamasu arc is some of if not the best written work from dragon ball in general.
I’m kinda surprised he doesn’t get much credit in the show, like by other characters it seems like.
Trunks wasnt allowed to be great because of the writing. The entire Android arc should've focused in him more, especially when he's the reason the entire arc happened. After Cell became perfect then it should've switched focus in Gohan and his potential.
Without Trunks ,the world would just be done. 17 and 18 would have their way, Cell would eventually get them and have his way. That's it. Done deal. Goku was meant to die from the virus and that's that. He may have been the strongest but not against that virus, sadly. Thanks to Bulma, actually. She's the true hero in all of this.
And there have been actual people who claim Future Trunks is a trash character. If you believe this you are honestly just a complete idiot. Everyone stans for Future Gohan and yes he was probably the biggest badass in DB but he ultimately couldn't live up to defeat 17 and 18. If only Bulma had finished the time machine sooner, Future Gohan is a death I think we all wish never happened, but it led to us having this Future Trunks who'd taken after Gohan so much. That Gohan had the hardest life of anyone in the show and becomes an absolute badass living through it. I love Future Trunks and Future Gohan equally as much but I think Trunks gets slept on over Gohan by a lot of people.
Most DragonBall fans are idiots that only care how strong a character is. If a character is not the strongest (Goku, Vegeta, or Gohan) then they are trash to them... even though characters like Piccolo and Trunks are some of the best written.
To be fair, Future Gohan is almost as well written as Trunks. He's a great character, even though he doesn't have the power to actually win his crusade for peace, but he passed his war on to Trunks.
The real problem is that a good part of the Dragon Ball fanbase only cares about power or fights. If it's not strong, it's trash to them, and they don't care much about writing or storytelling.

Future Trunks is probably one of the biggest victims of bad writing in Dragonball because it’s not nessacarily him as a character that’s bad, it’s the story that Akira wrote that fucked him over. Akira had 0 idea of what he was doing post Freiza.

Kind of off topic but I hate how kid trunks still looks like a kid in super. He should look as old as future trunks looked when future gohan died. Future gohan died in age 780 and the goku black arc/ tournament of power takes place roughly in age 780 as well lol. Thankfully, super hero finally made him look his age which I heard takes place around age 782-783 roughly since it was slightly before end of z(age 784 when we see goku with the blue gi).

What I hate about super Goku and yeah I say super Goku is his poor rationale for decisions . Resurrection F should have been enough of a reason for Goku to NOT WANT FREIZA ALIVE AGAIN. Yet just for him to fight a stronger Frieza again and for them needing another fighter after that Majin Buu shit, he goes and asks for Frieza to return from the dead again for a day to replace Buu. Granted it was Beerus that gave Frieza back his life had Goku not decided to get Frieza and then tell everyone about what he was doing after Frieza arrived, made Goku one very irresponsible hero who selfishly rather satisfies his desire to fight than think collectively. At least super dragon ball has made him this way. Sad to see this regression

Trunks' major flaw was being too focused on proving himself to Vegeta, but he'd have killed semi-perfect Cell quickly if he fought him first instead of Vegeta. Look at how quickly he killed the androids and Cell after he returned to the future. This would also make a good "what if" scenario: DBZ would end 50 episodes sooner, Goku wouldn't have to sacrifice himself, and Gohan wouldn't have turned ssj2 during this fight since the Cell Games wouldn't have happened...
Ok this bothers me for years with the later Dragonball z movies. Goku turns super Saiyan ends cooler instantly right? So the who movie leading up to that point was practically useless because Goku he could of done that idk almost immediately and ended the movie in 10 minutes. Same here with gohon screws around in saj1 mostly whole movie knowing that the other ss. Vegeta trunks taken out quickly oh and piccolo. Then again goes ssj2 punches the underlings in half literally then takes out Bojack like he's nothing after the beatings the crew took from these guys.. so pretty much he didn't do that right away knowing he's friends himself and innocent bystanders are in trouble they need to be stopped. Now I know he don't like fighting and what not but still after cell he should be cool with taking a threat out right away instead of screwing around. My point is because Gohan could have one at the beginning the rest of the movie was pointless there basically just messing around getting there assess kicked for no reason well untill Gohan goes ssj2 and ends it.
