  • Just a quick video of installing a tiny tachometer to an outboard.
Pretty easy job. Really good addition too, even as an hour meter.

Hi mate have the same motor, great and reliable. Just a tip change those shit hose clamps on your internal motor fuel lines with some all stainless ones from supercheap or similar. One day checked them when aged liked yours and one completely split and the others about to. Lucky at home and not on the water. Again great video

Great job mate. I had same one for 4 years. Battery always on. Finally died. Just bought new one with replacement battery and off switch. 13$ US!

Hey mate I've got one and they're great for testing prop and RPM. Mine just has one black wire and I had to play with the amount of times it wrapped around the spark plug wire to get working properly. Cheers 👍

    Great video
Do you think that you would be able to extend the wires to run it to the front of the boat and did you set up the reminder for service if so could you do a video on that because I bought the same one as you and not sure on the install and settings not to good at reading thanks

      Hi Mate,
I am not sure on extending the wires as they run on spark pulse and resistance I believe.
I did not set a timer for service on mind as I just do my motors annually as I never reach the hours first.

    Hey mate,
are you going to do a video of your prop test results.
I'm really interested to see what you come up with.
I've got a few of the same motors as you.
2 of the 15 super both with 18 mod and 2 25 sea pro both with 30 mod.
also got a Fish Nipper along with 9 other boats I'm testing out.
I saw you in Bisbane Waters getting about before. would be good to pick your brain sometime, hopefully save myself a few bucks buying a bunch of props which as you know, aren't very cheap.

      Thanks mate,
I haven’t tried extending the wires, yeah it would be nice up front for sure.
I think extending the wires may cause it to read incorrectly though unfortunately, they are pretty sensitive.
I could be wrong, it’s worth a try as they are not expensive.
Keep me posted if you try, I am very interested.
      Cheers 👌

No battery it charges off the spark plug to its internal power source. Meaning no replacement battery. Made in china maybe 2 days or 20 years who knows.

G'day great video shows how easy it is to install, I bought one of these exactly the same and it works but it keeps going back to the default setting "1pr" after a while (several times per outing)so then it indicates twice the actual RPM i have a twin cylinder and it needs to be set at "2pr" have you ever had this issue of it reverting back to the factory setting of "1pr"? I think I might just buy another one and hope it doesn't do the same thing if this is not a common problem, it says lifetime warranty but for $34 i don't think it's worth the hassle seems highly accurate other than not staying on the "2pr" setting

    • @25hpboatracerman
      @25hpboatracerman  Год назад +2

      Hi mate,
That’s unfortunate it keeps going to factory settings. I have not had the same issues with any of the ones I have installed.
If it is easy to get a warranty I would try that but your correct, they are cheap so if it’s a hassle just order another.
      Cheers

      Hey mate,
The display never turn off. Apparently they last for many years on the supplied battery as the display draws next to nothing, not sure how long the current ones battery life is.
I had one on my race boat that lasted 6 years before it went flat, thought that was pretty good.
Even if you got instructions, they are pretty useless 😂.
