I have a 93 600. A few years back I replaced the wiring harness and sent the old one back to the CEO of Mercedes in New Jersey. He sent me a $1500 gift certificate which actually surprised me

I am surprised,at how Mercedes Benz, would put some wiring, that would be a potential fire hazard, if the insulation was falling off, I love the W123 300 D Turbodiesel, I am wondering, if your friend, maybe when the weather permits, that it ain*t cold or that they are using road salt, he should, put some type of rust converter, or somehow paint the underside of the car, since that road salt is lethal to any car, and his car looks awesome, after seeing what the road salt would do to the car from your friend who is in Turkey I believe, a nice car a 202 but that road salt really did some damage to the fender, when I see the way you have these cars going, even the one that had been parked due to it hitting a ditch with black ice, it is nice to see them starting up, ready to go, what did the owner decide to fix that car, to me, that car, could be ready to go on the streets again in no time, since the airbag did not deploy, and it did not suffer considerable damage like some cars, that otherwise would be written off as a total loss, and like you said fix the main damage so it can be drive worthy, and fix it little by little, especially at today's car prices which cost a lot of $$$

I told him about the undercarriage protection. I’ll tell him again. The best would be a fluid film.
And yes, after about 25 years, those cars suffer from a deteriorating engine wiring harness.
