Edit: I currently have a cobblestone generator, a sand/sandstone generator and a sheep farm all currently in areas that are always loaded. That and a 5x5 chunk quarry that's currently been stripping a desert of resources. Ive had over 100 chunks always loaded and not really had much lag, then again I only play on Java so that might make a huge difference.
