I'm expecting it to happen, but not yet on this stage, looking at Visma LAB's strategy here, IMO they're making POG think he has this, as a result of which he's wearing himself down, so I really think they'll have Jonas hang on for now, to deliver a decisive blow in the final week, ... let's see ey
Many outside the GC (like you've pointed out) will be eying this one up & hoping to get in the break...Or will that not be allowed & the GC guys go for the win. It'll be interesting to see how it pans out.
Looks like hard to control for potentially limited gains, so I do expect the break to build a significant lead, as usual, it will al depend on the composition of the break that forms, enjoy!
Thanks again for another great video. You convinced me to take Bardet for a podium finish. Any thoughts as to when the peloton will allow the break to form? With a start so flat, it isn't great for the climby guys. Do you think the sprinter teams will want to fight it out for the sprint points, especially Philipsen?
I think there will be a big breakaway from which someone will also win. I don't think this is the kind of stage where some riders go to recover something in the general classification. So maybe Bernard/Verona instead of Ciccone. I don't see Cras either, not at all, but rather Burgaudeau, as he is the escape man in the mountain stages. From EF, the stage would be more preferable for Powless and he looks like one of those climbers who are hidden in the general classification, seemingly waiting for this moment.
Don't forget that the start of the race is pretty flat, which will favor stronger and bigger riders over pure climbers to get in the break. This should be more suitable to types like Lazkano or even Cort
I have a few questions. Why not Mohoric, Bettiol,Matthews, ? Too hard for them? Also think Oscar Onley might have a chance to be in the break. Do you think Aranburu can get over the mountains(was sixth in stage 1)? Today riders as Lutsenko, Harper, Tejada,Tiller lost time do You think they did this to get in the break and get more freedom? Finally Buitrago, Gall, Ciccone and Bilbao are all within 30 seconds do you think there is a difference in the freedom they will get?
Hoihoi, sorry for not getting back to you earlier. For what it's still worth: yep too hard for them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated. As for your last question, I don't think the top guys fear any of the riders mentioned and would be happy giving them freedom. The problem is that they often cancel out each other, because they're all riding for a Top 10 - personally I'd love it so much more, to see them go for stage wins, given that the win and even the podium is out of reach to them. Enjoy!
Cyclingguy I know this can happen. But I Dont think Remco will be there. Its not a good climber, but down Hill he catch all. 2 our 🇸🇮in 4. The best TDF ever!
@@bostjanhribersek1205 cheers ey, I tend to disagree on Remco though, he can't match the initial burst of POG, yet that doesn't make him a bad climber in my book
Tomorrow is 1 of 7 showdowns we have coming. How many does Tadej need to win for the Tour? How many does Jonas need to win the Tour? How many does Remco, Primoz, or Carlos need? Love to hear everyone’s opinion!
Honestly that's a very nice prediction, I can totally see Bilbao and Carapaz breaking away from the break, and Van Gils winning the sprint for 3rd behind them
Great work Guy. Cheers! 🚴🚴♂🚴♀
Cheers buddy, that turned out very differently though ;-)
I was surprised you didn't have Jonas in your predictions to win and he ended up Winning!

Cheers John, apologies for not having been able to respond earlier today, .. unfortunately no Bardet today 😪
Ciccone keeps making the same mistake, not falling out of GC in the first mountains, so they won't let him. At Lidl my name is, once again, Skujins.
Cheers ey, the same goes for Gall, Bilbao and the others, a TdF top 10 seemingly keeps on being valued higher

boy oh boy, did that end up going very differently from what we expected - thanks for sharing your calls, really nice!

I don't see the break forming until after the intermediate sprint. It will be a brutal pace until some point near the first hill.
Lazkano keeps on surprising me this year, what a rider
The break formation is going to be brutal for the riders lol
No Gaudu ?
He's been disappointing me a few times too often

Today Tadej attack and Roglic respond! 👍🇸🇮

1. W. Poels, 2. S Yates. 3. Van de Broek

@@tugabooga something seems off with the Bahrain guys ey, Wright OTL today ???
all your prediction guys not in form how possible could climb that step and with the stage😂😂😂
you can't win them all (on top, some picks were in the break of the day, yet UAE thought differently about it)
