Can This Never Seen Surfboard Actually Float?

  • Hi there friends, in today’s video we are going to make a wooden surfboard you’ve never seen before. In a previous video we made a redwood surfboard and had such a blast that we wanted to make another surfboard but this time really challenge ourselves to push the limits on what’s possible. We came up with a dive helmet and squid design for the board. I cut the inlays out on my Thunder Bolt laser and glued the inlays in place using CA glue. Once the board was constructed we fiberglass the board and coated it with TotalBoat high performance epoxy. Then a few coats of TotalBoats Halcyon varnish. Stick around to the end of the video to see if it’s sea worth or not. Thank you so much for watching this video. If you enjoyed this video be sure to like and subscribe to my channel for more fun and wild builds.
    Thanks in advance Friends

    Despite the seal not working, this is one of my favorite projects that you've ever made. It's an awesome concept and a stunning final piece. Great job!

    That simply took my breath away. Art doesn't often have a development phase where you iron out the unforeseen obstacles but this thing is spellbinding so I suggest consulting an engineer and making more of them, each one different, and selling them for maybe a hundred thousand dollars to well heeled surfers and art aficionados. I'm not kidding. Just be prepared for Chinese companies to be inspired and come out with something mass produced for much less money. That's OK though because yours will still be art and the authentic, original. Just do it. 😊

    Such a awesome project. I was waiting for this video. I’m so jealous. It’s gotta be incredible at night. Nice getting to see Eric surf. You can make a more robust seal too and maybe adding some grease to the seal may help. Put it on thick and make a wooden tool to tighten it a little more

    Even though the board wasn't 100% waterproof at least it had structural integrity!

      I owe 100% of the structural integrity to the TotalBoat products! Couldn’t have built this board without you guys!

    That is amazingly beautiful. The squid design works so well with the fibre optics.

    The graphics are stunning and the lights look awesome! Too bad it didn't stay watertight to keep using it to surf with. But it is a fun piece of art. Thanks for sharing!

    Did you work out how the water was getting in?

    • @wood_brain
      @wood_brain  5 дней назад

      Pretty sure the top hatch is hitting the fiber optic handle by an 1/16 of an inch keeping it from fully sealing…

    You should put rubber seal on it like on watches and break oil tanks on cars

      The rubber ring thingy. I forgor what it's called but that one.
