Death of Superman was definitely a good story and an impactful marketing move at the same time. Even the remake of the story years and years later was good. Doomsday was just such a beast of a creature with such weird biology.
regardless of what the intent behind The Death of SUperman is, its a CLASSIC story that really sells what superman is about. It explores what Superman is as a person, how he affects the lives of those around him, be it his friends, his lover, his coworkers, his fans, random people living their lives and even his enemies. I was never a huge superman fan but i became more of one after reading that story, seeing how kindhearted superman was, how much he was willing to do save anyone and everyone, how much his death affects everyone around him, and what he meant to everyone. He was never going to STAY dead, but that's not really the point is it? the death of superman is only one part of the saga.
There's a clip on RUclips from this era of Harlan Ellison tearing apart the notion: "Hasn't this happened before?" 2:57 And I guess fans and creators felt the same way.
Not sure why you brought in Doujinshi, unless it's just a pet idea of yours. There's a long history of underground and self-published comics in the U.S. since the 1960s, and I don't see how Death of Power is related to the Japanese scene.
@ in the comics, I think the creater killed him off, just because of the movie…. I need to do more eesearch, the movie made 90million off a low budget,, I
@@SamArt6607 yeah Krumb is a darn contrarian like Alan Moore. I do love that movie. If you get a chance watch every movie Ralph Bakshi ever made. Besides Cool World.

Great stuff Cova! Loved the Kayfabe connection. Excellent video as always
I recently met Kirt a couple months back. Really nice guy and an amazing artist.
"Nobody stays dead... except Uncle Ben."
For those you are short sighted its a freaking RULE! Whatever brings money never stays dead for long, simple as that ppl!!!
Question: since he's using copyrighted characters how is he making money without getting sued?
Look up Parody law.
@@Covaslookout cheers
Looooove Kirt's work! Great vid as usual Cova!
Stuff like this makes me dread when Superman becomes public domain
Shut up every character should be public domain
Stuff that you won't be forced to interact with if you're not interested
Doomsday was a hyped up version of the Hulk.
Doomsday is still vastly superior to the food mascot's little brother. And no, i will not be arguing.
Downloaded your comic. So good. Thank you for creating and sharing.
Thank you 🙏🏾🙏🏾
This is truly inspiring
3:21 Charlie reference
That looks like artwork from "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark".
X-Rated Superman? With Big Barda?
Which comic is the thumbnail from?

Kirt, the creator of Death of Power said he was influenced by mangas and doujinshi when making this comic. That’s why I brought it up.
@@Covaslookout Okay, I appreciate the reply. Thanks!
I wonder what would have happened if he never came back, in both comics and the real world
8:32 the pokemon doujishi is crazy.
This was not the first time Superman died
7:50 What's his aslume name?
i like that since they dont use the actual names they cant get sued
The early '90s was a horrible time for comics, and the death of Superman was a nasty, venal scam. It deserves whatever mockery it gets.
Man, superhero comics from corporate owners just suck shit
Fritz the cat died
I didn’t even know he was sick…
