Huge fan of the show. As a male, it really helps to open my eyes to the real world things women go through. Freakin' hopes this show is not prophetic in any way.
I've been really impressed w/ her in every show I've seen her in (OITNB, Black Mirror, & ESPECIALLY Handmaid's Tale - she obviously is an actress that makes smart decisions & isn't afraid to play really complex characters), this is the first interview I've seen her in & it makes me like her even more!
Makes a change from all those TV interviewers who interrupt their guests mid sentence. Some guests do ramble on and go off on a tangent but there's no need to cut into every sentence they utter.
During the first couple of episodes of this show i went to work and was verbally harassed by an male Co worker. I was so pressed and livid,This show has awakened so much in me,made me more aware as a woman..... the show kind of draws the universe to us to wake us up.....love this show, just wanted to share.
I never read the book but I was describing the show to my mother recently. Her response was that situations like these have existed "since the very beginning of humanity." I thought about it and it's so true. You can find traces of it throughout history.
Thank you so much for the interview! Thoroughly enjoying the questions and the interaction between you two. Love the part when Madeline talked about how Janine fights back in her situation, in her way. Can't wait to see the second season unfolds.
I REALLY love the way the show and Madeline are portraying Janine. Having read the book so many times over the last twenty years, Janine is portrayed as someone everyone hates, as someone who has the (spoiler if you haven't read the book) confidence of Aunt Lydia. Aunt Lydia feels Janine is a true believer, and as a result the other handmaids do not like her. Yes, she still loses it mentally, but Offred and the others think it isn't real, that it is an "easy out" as Offred puts it. So I really like the way the series handles Janine's role.
I feel so sorry for you!! You didn't deserve to get your eyeball plucked off of your face like that...Aunt Lydia shouldn't have made that decision. Blessed be the fruit, dear.
@@sozuruQ2 In series 4 they do show some of Janine’s backstory before Gilead. How she’s a single mum who gets pregnant again, and doesn’t want to keep the child, because she can’t care for two children.
She really deserves an award for her role. She does an magnificent job portraying Janine.

everything in the book and season 1 has already happened at some point in time, maybe not all together, but it has all happened
Its so strange seeing her with two eyes!
Jeff White I was thinking the same thing!
I think same

It's nice to see an interviewer ask intelligent thoughtful questions ! And Madeleine brewer is my new favourite !

Brilliant performance by Madeline Brewer...I cried watching her !
when she said the bravest thing someone can do is stay when they want to leave... that knocked the wind out of me

I mean it’s a radical simulation of something that will never/ can never happen. So don’t connect it to reality to much friend.
The most frightening thing in the novel is Ms. Atwood's final note-thateverything described in her story has ALREADY HAPPENED!

I'm hooked... I watched all 10 episodes in one fail swoop... If I was alseep before... I'm not anymore... I love this series
Pence is the commander in chief.
Omg, now I love her. Her job with Janine and now listening to her talking about acceptance towards every feeling we experience in our lifes 💜💜💜
She's a brilliant actress, loved her in Black Mirror and now The Handmaid's Tale....two utterly important shows, everybody should watch them
She seems like a beautiful woman, inside and out. She seems like she has a good heart.

I adore her 💋 She brings a sweet innocence to the show which contrasts the evil that radiates throughout it 😔
This character frightened me for years.
She was amazing on the show
Her work is amazing
She's an amazing actress
Janine is my favorite character in a series ♥️
I almost didn't recognise her from the thumbnail....
I was so used to seeing her with single eye....
Janine is beloved! ❤️
I love this show
The whole time during the interview I was wondering if they were twinning on purpose 😂
twinning?
Right? Of all the styles and necklines of shirts to wear!!!

Sakura Christine Ito when was this?
Episode 1. May the Lord Open.
Brilliant actress!
FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The music in the background is so annoying and off-putting. Once it's heard it can't be unheard.
Maybe they’ll do a backstory of Janine in season 2
Well that didn't happen, maybe season 3
Maggie McFly well that didn’t happen. Maybe season 4
Paula Sanders hi I’m from the future and that didn’t happen. Maybe season 5!

Love the show
isn't it great?
Yeah, my current favorite !
Well she’s certainly much prettier with two eyes! She is an amazing actress
How weird is it to see her with 2 eyes?
Wow ❤️❤️🍾
Janine reminds me of harley quin but if harley was cought in gilead
Maddie reminds me so much of Chloe Morello.
I don't view this as a female struggle but a human struggle
I really wanted to see Janine kidnapping baby Charlotte/Angela and getting out of Gilead like Emily and Nicole did.
Shes growing on me
Damn she’s so cute
Janine is so gorgeous even with one eye lol
Their whiteness bright my mobile display so much that I barely see anything.
The bravest thing a human can do, is stay when they want to leave...
Thank you Madeline... thank you... 💜
