I feel like there should be an opposite counterpart to the Peter Pan complex. People who insist that you MUST give up anything that makes you joyful or comfortable in order to seem “more adult,” suggesting that they have come to associate adulthood with putting yourself through unnecessary misery in order to seem more grown-up. This likely stems from the subject projecting their own insecurities about being “Mature Enough” onto the people around em.
You're describing most parents. 99.9 of parents tell their kids they're "too old" for whatever hobby/interest & that that they "need to grow up, get a job". My own parents forced me to grow up by adding extra chores and making me go to college. All parents think being grumpy means being mature because they're grumpy and think that's just part of being an adult. Plus misery loves company so they don't want to feel alone.

As someone with an inferiority complex, it does work as a motivation, but it is also like a Sisyphus’s Boulder where the push to achieve something ends up no where and you start over. So I repeat the process, excepting a different result.

I had no idea what a martyr complex was until today, I feel so called out 😭
Poor Oedipus, bro was actually a pretty good guy, just accidentally married his mom (after trying so hard to avoid doing that) and then killed himself when he found out.
How I feel like I play violin, and how I feel sometimes 2:41
I might have every problem here besides the first one (Oedipus)
Just found this channel... I am absolutely loving every second of it! thank you for it!

as someone who formerly had a martyr complex: I WAS FUCKING *OBNOXIOUS*
As someone with an inferiority complex, it does work as a motivation, but it is also like a Sisyphus’s Boulder where the push to achieve something ends up no where and you start over. I can improve myself or my skills, I can be complimented for these skills by highly respected people, but I may never feel like I’m on same level as them or everyone else. So I repeat the process, excepting a different result.
I just realised I have Peter Pan complex minus the running away from responsibilities and serious relationships.
I feel like saying that Snow White and Cinderella were “waiting for somebody to save them” is incorrect in my opinion, Snow White was literally sleeping, so she couldn’t really do much, and Cinderella likely would have saved herself eventually, the godmother just came first.
I agree. Cinderella didn't wait for a miracle to happen, she was rewarded a miracle because she was kind despite everything
Lol I thought I had the saviour complex, until I learned the actual definition lol
...Was the symbol for the Don Wan complex the Nostalgia critic?!😮
Individuals with Autism has these traits.
Apparently I have a few complexes... Peter pan complex was way scarily accurate (I have high functioning asbergers)
@@BADY4N I'm high function too! I have some of these traits.
What would be the complex of the person who solves everyone else's problems, like the psychologist friend, but avoids their own because they don't know how to deal with their own problems?
9:19 this is basically all those people that are like “I’m the therapist friend 😔💔🥀⛓🖤”
HELPPPP THIS IS SO REAL BAHAHAHAHAHA
This just means you’re the person the uses the therapist friend
@pcn545 and what made you assume that?
@@incognitospaghet1452 because the toxic ones that pretend like therapist friends don’t exist, tend to be the ones that use them the most
@@pcn545
Now, could this hostility towards me be a result of your experience? Have you categorized yourself as the therapist of your friend group?
If so, I know that one can feel obligated to support their friends, however you are not responsible for everyone’s happiness nor their comfort 100% of the time. Perhaps allow some space to feel that you are allowed to set boundaries and protect your mental health. Perhaps, in the cases where your boundaries are violated you can remove yourself from the situation? Or more importantly their lives? Because people whom violate your boundaries after you’ve already told them consistently and repeatedly are more than likely to do it again. Now then happy holidays, I hope you are staying safe ^-^
Also I don’t vent to anyone, ever. So on that note I don’t have a “therapist friend”. Which I’m very happy to not have, they sound incredibly judgmental and I would hate to confide in a person that secretly hates me and talks about how much they hate me for trusting them behind my back . ^-^
Thank you for showing what ekbom syndrome is in a video if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be able to get help for it:)
HOW THE HELL DID I GOR FROM AN INFERIORITY COMPLEX TO A SAVIOR COMPLEX-
