- This is a video to highlight the Fly tying filming equipment setup I use. I do not get into too many brands, but talk about the items and practices one needs to focus on when doing videos.
I also go over key things you need to have, to look for, and to avoid.
I do not get into a camera debate or what style of camera is best, I show this set up for use with a camera phone, but you can use a DSLR, Mirrorless, Video Camera, Microscope style camera, etc.
I am using an iPhone 12 Pro Max to film this video.
I do not talk about microphones as well, but that is because I did not make this specific to type of camera, and some cameras may require an external microphone, and some may not. It may also depend highly upon if you are doing audio during the video or adding during the editing process.
The light sets I am using and mention by name are from Neewer.
Overhead style light set of two:

Tabletop light set of two: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07...
I also mention Super Bright Tying Light I use when not filming. I do however recommend this light if taking photographs, as the light intensity is great for that purpose. It is this style here:

I have a relaxed and impromptu, unscripted way of doing videos. I feel that it really shows that we all make mistakes when we speak, stumble on words on occasion, and that I am a real person, not an actor or professional RUclips personality. I hope that you like my style.

Hey, I might be late to the party and have seen this video too late for you to notice the comment but ... I wanted to thank you for your video. I've been wanting to do some filming on the cheap and also have some lighting issues in my office that I didn't know how to solve, sharing your setup helped immensely and you got a sub and a like from me. Have some questions for you, just a couple simple ones but if you wouldn't mind DM'ing me I'll ask there. Again, thanks so much for putting out quality videos and showing us I don't need a $4k mirror-less camera and all that jazz. I just want to engage in my passion more. Keep up the great work!
You’re welcome and thank you!!
I am glad my videos helped you. It may never look like a $4k camera shot it, but it can still look great!!!
Not sure how to DM on you tube, but feel free to ask here or send me a message on FB.
Thanks so much for this!!! I’m trying to do it w a HUMONGOUS …. iPhone for the win
You’re welcome!! I use an iPhone for all my videos since I got it and it works great!! Not just fly tying either. :)
This was great! Thank you very much
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it. I hope it helped in some way. Good luck with your fly tying and tight wraps always.
Great tips! Helped me tremendously!
Thank you very much, I am glad to help where I can.
Good job! Very informative. I'm thinking about adding some tying videos on my channel and this really helps. Thanks!
Thank you and you’re welcome.
I wish you luck on your tying videos and gaining more followers.
thank you so much for your time,
You’re welcome, thank you for watching.
Thank you
You’re welcome and thank you for watching.
How do you set up a second camera for Showing the Top View of the fly being tied please??!
A go pro on a tripod or flexible mount works well for getting a top view. The trick is to make sure that the camera is not too high so that you get a lot in view that you don't want, but not too low so that your hands hit it when tying.
great vid how would a go pro work any info would be great thanks Mark
Thank you.
Any GoPro or action cameras will work well for film, but you may need to use an external microphone on some action cameras.
I would experiment with a couple of videos and listen to the sound quality. You can edit sound in some software applications, but if you can get good raw sound, the better the video will come across.
Here is an idea for an adapter and external microphone.

Do you always stand? or do you move the equipment so you can sit at your desk?
I usually stand since getting this site and stand desk, but I occasionally sit... I like to alternate after an hour or so in either position.
Please post a link for your shirt. I must have one.
Thank you!! The shirt I am wearing in the video is the $11 one.
Lots of other stuff too!!
Thank you for the support !!!

The long sleeve Blue shirt with small fish all over it.
@@LindenRanch oh, so sorry!!
It may take me a bit to find a link for that one…it is a few years old.
I will get you a link if I can find it anywhere. :)
@@LindenRanch okay, so I have lloked for that shirt for you....and it appears as if it is no longer available in stores. Sorry. But, I can tell you that it was made by "Craft and Barrow". However, a quick Google search shows that there are a few available from used clothing shops. I have the one in blue with fish and a gray one with flies on it. www.google.com/search?q=Croft+%26+Barrow+Quick+Dry+Fishing+Long+Sleeve+Shirt&sxsrf=AOaemvLxO_Bb6NCPfOfpZ8RmjfM9P2uyPg:1632946873389&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwibvsySgaXzAhUvElkFHR1WBnEQ_AUoAXoECAEQAw&biw=1920&bih=880&dpr=1
