    I'm starting to realize that it's only people who just watch MMA, don't actually train bjj, or watch some martial arts online, who make the steroid comments. People who actually train know that at the elite level everyone is super strong, everyone has flexibility, and everybody has some kind of game plan to win (except Jay Rod apparently). The idea that steroids somehow magically make people great at grappling is laughable. I've never done them but WOULD if I could reduce negative side effects and have better recovery from training beyond proper diet and sleep. Just a bunch of do nothings that aren't willing to put in the work naturally to even start to benefit from PEDs. Much easier to just make an excuse and hate online.

    • @awatkeys
      @awatkeys 11 месяцев назад +4

      I mean you arent wrong. That is where the hate comes from, but can't you just do everything you just said and not take PEDs?
      I don't personally care about PEDs. I don't want to take them because of the long term effects, but I dislike the trend of most high level competitors are on PEDs. It feels like it's getting out of hand. Regardless, it's your body. Do what you want. Have fun and roll hard ❤

    • @aaronkinder2807
      @aaronkinder2807 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@awatkeys I agree that proper diet and sleep is the way to go. It's just not going to be enough when your competitor is doing all of that in addition to being on gear. They will be the same bodyweight and likely significantly stronger. We all know that all things equal, besides strength, and the stronger competitor is likely going to win. There are always exceptions, but generally speaking if level of technique is identical the stronger athlete will prevail.

      Think about basketball, the guy who can practice more free-throws will be better at free-throws.
      The guy who can drill more reps will be better at that technique than the person who drills fewer.
      1) PEDs allows you to drill more reps.
      2) BJJ, like basketball, benefits from more reps.
      Given that 1 and 2 are true: PEDs increases skill at BJJ.

    • @aaronkinder2807
      @aaronkinder2807 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@MrOpenSeseme more reps = better, is not completely true. More reps, done with correct technique = better. More shit reps =/= better, it = worse. Gordon doesn't just take gear and do more reps. He takes gear, while doing quality reps. He trains under Danaher, he has seemingly always had world class training partners, and still does today in Meregali, Big Dan, etc. I'm not suggesting you can only get better under Danaher. I'm just calling out that you can practice junk all day and won't get better. If you practice solid technique etc. all day you will get better.
      I do agree with your sentiment to be clear.

    • @awatkeys
      @awatkeys 11 месяцев назад

      @aaronkinder2807 PEDs are not just about strength. You can be on PEDs and not turn into the hulk. All depends on the gear you take.
      PEDs are for people who have the privilege and opportunity. Not everyone has the ability to take them. There is no delineation in most competition. Plus if there was someone could always just cycle off them.
      So IMO the result is privilege and opportunity are what creates the professional world of grappling right now. Not hard work ethic and quality representation alone. And please don't get me wrong, Gordon and others have hard work ethic and quality training. They just do it with gear and have the privilege of getting better faster because the gear helps them recover more quickly.
      It just makes me sad. Especially for a younger generation who feels gear is the only way to succeed now because "all of the pros do it"

    Awesome video and breakdown. I’m running into an issue when trying to pass chest to chest on one of my taller, stronger training partners. Using the bottom guy in your video for reference- my training partner uses their right arm (bottom arm) to place a strong stiff arm frame on my left hip (outside hip). It relieves my cross face pressure and makes it feel like I can’t work my way up to a solid chest to chest pin with the far underhook. I’ve been pinching my knees and walking his hips flat to move away from the frame, but his arms are so long I have to back off his chest to address the frame with my crossface arm. That opens up his knee shield options. Any tips on beating the bottom arm frame?
