    As retired boat builder of 35 years, i made stuff with GRP. It’s more likely that the side flare has a coating of mirror glaze mould release wax! And possibly a blue ish liquid called PVA, to stop the moulding sticking to the mold! Not silicone. Just saying. 😊 also plastic based scotch brite pads are good for creating a key for paint.

      @@Albert_206 I agree with you mate. There could be all sorts of mould release on those side flares.
      Plus if you sand the panels without removing all the surface contaminants you literally spread the Wax/PVA/Silicon mould release agent's over the whole surface and into the scratches your using to key the surface with the sander.
      As they say in boat building "alcohol fixes everything" isopropyl or denatured alcohol of course. LOL 😊

    Hi Mel, it was good to see you and meet you last year and have you at the International campervan show, I like that your big on your health and safety i was just going to mention you were using your mask as your were sanding but didn't start off using it when spraying, I am writing this while watching and you finally put your mask on lol. Loving your videos. Hopefully we will see you again soon. Stay safe.

    Mel to Stop the Blotching as its Called, Secure the Panel on the Long side of the Table so you got un interrupted travel across the full length of the Panel, instead of Reaching over and Creating Dry Patches, keeping your Wrist and Can / Gun square to the Panel , Your Wrist wasTwisting in Arc type Action ,get a uneven Coat ,Heavy inplaces as your Wrist turns , hence the Blotching

    Nice bit of rattle-can work there Mel. When I sprayed my bike I bought a trigger attachment for the cans that keeps the index finger away from the nozzle and make it easier to hold.

    You must have been absolutely delighted when matey fired up that machine next to your freshly primed panels… Those Upol cans are good, but in an open cold space like that and large flattish panels with metallic base no wonder it was a such a struggle. Honestly, a cheap DeVilbiss FLG would transform a job like this from a battle into a joy.

    That "red and yellow s**t" throw away line proper made me laugh when you were cooking on the induction hob , Mel. Probably the nearest Big van small world has ever got to X rated🤣🤣 Thats some brilliant painting on the side pods too. I might post my rear tailgate spoiler down to you to paint for me.....just kidding😉 In fact, I was going to get it professionally painted after I buy it but you have inspired me to have a go myself.....and save myself some money as I was quoted 160 to paint one. I can get a few cans of paint and laquer mixed for a quarter of that. Thanks for another great video. I do love your normal and waffle channels which I love commenting on regularly and also Rebecca's channel. Bessy regs- Kenny

    Here’s a helpful hint. If you have a reciprocating saw, put a long blade into it and use a couple of hose clamps to hold the spray can and let the saw be your paint shaker. You are always entertaining to watch and I learn things. 👍

    Tip I found works well - put the spray can in hot water ( not too hot ) for 10 minutes - makes a huge difference to performance, and gets the most paint out of the can.

    • @marctT4887
      @marctT4887 Год назад

      And also causes the paint to go off quicker which leaves you with orange peel

    • @fraserhardmetal7143
      @fraserhardmetal7143 Год назад

      @@marctT4887 Not necessarily - paint finish is determined principally by the ability of the person spraying it. A marginal increase in the paint temperature compensates for the generally low ambient temperature in the U.K. , resulting in higher paint viscosity and impaired atomisation.

    When I do any spray work I always warm the parts up with an old hair dryer and then I have less risk of over heating what I want to spray.
    Looks a good job Mel and to think you will be able to stretch out more.

    Why 400 grit it’s only fibreglass by far easier just hitting it with 800 on the DA and hit it straight with primer a lot less hassle
