Cut an onion or lemon in half and rub that over the grill when very hot. Helps loosen the old char and sterilises at the same time :-)

could make a ball of thinfoil and rub your grill grates with that, not too tight so it'll get in between your grates

Another option. May give it a go. Or I'll spray with a cleaner and leave for a while. I think these cast griddles are meant to be a bit greasy and 'seasoned'. Cheers.
