I have never heard a male voice with a six octave range in my life! The back story on Dimash is fascinating. He is a first born son in Kazakhstan and, in their culture, the first born son is raised by the grandmother. His mother is an opera singer and his father is a well known singer. Because he showed he loved music from an early age, his grandmother had him classically trained from the age of five (5). The world first heard of him in approximately 2017. SOS was written in 1978 by a Frenchman named Michael Berger and, the song was an omage to a young friend with a wide range that passed away. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. I am 66 and like you I have never ever felt about a singer, can’t call him a singer, vocal artist, like I do about Dimash. I had no teqchnical knowledge of vocals but I only had to hear one verse to know Dimash is totally unique and touched my heart and soul. I found him by accident while watching ice skating about 4 months ago. No idea why i clicked on his song but I was dimashified in an instant and totally addicted. Every spare minute I have is taken up with Dimash. I have watched every vocal coach and voice analyst I can find to understand what he does and why he is so mind blowing. I can't even begin to tell you how much of a superfan I am. Dimash is a 26 year, 191cm (6'3") tall, old singer/songerwriter/multi instrumentalist from Kazakhstan. Located close to China & Russia. He speaks in 3 languages, sings in more than 12, and plays many instruments from piano to dombra. He's been singing since the age of 5. His parents are both musicians. His dad is a lyricist and his mom sings opera. He also is a very active young man and plays many sports. He has been known to enjoy swimming and has learned some of his breathing techniques from that. He rose to popularity because of the performance of SOS on the show 'The Singer', a chinese show, back in 2017. The performance you reacted to. Unfortunately you can't see how many views he has but that performance has over 1 billion views on various video platforms in China. He was the only non-Chinese competitor on the show and was put in as a wildcard even through the show had professional artists. His life basically changed overnight. He currently hold a degrees in vocals and has his master's in music composition. Dimash also has a 6 octave range, getting closer to 7 now a days. Honestly the range isn't really what sets him apart as the world's best vocalist in my opinion. He's extremely versatile. He sings songs in all different genres/styles, sings with so much passion, and has unbelievable stage presence. Dimash calls his fans Dears because they are dear to his heart and if you continue this Dimash journey, I'm positive you will become one too :). As far as to what to listen to next, he sings pretty much all genres. He incorporates many different styles (mostly classical) into different songs or covers. A lot of superfans would suggest you watch the "evolution" of him from all his performances on The Singer series in China in 2017. I don't care about that personally so I would suggest something more modern for you like "Across Endless Dimensions". Dimash is simply the best singer in the world and many consider him an alien and that has to be studied by NASA .. laughs. He is a simple, humble boy, loves and honors his parents, his country. She sings in 10 languages, plays 7 instruments: piano, guitar, dombra, drums, cello, etc ... and exhales music through her eyes, hands, her entire body is music. Thank you ! Also Dimash is an incredible human being, much more than just a singer/ performer. He is a man of principles, and did not choose for a contract with a record company. That is why he is not played on radio or seen on TV. But he is a free person this way ! Love it, although I would love him to be known more in the west.

Dimash has the widest vocal range of any male singer in recorded history - and the best thing is that he knows how to make the best use of its beauty. He is on a level all of his own. Get your dad to listen with you to Ogni Pietra, a modern-day cantata written for him especially by the Russian maestro Igor Krutoy, who came out of semi retirement to help Dimash launch his career to a far wider audience than he was getting three years ago. All of Krutoy’s songs and compositions are gorgeously lyrical, constructed superbly. The two of them together make music magic! Ogni Pietra was as I said, a cantata written specifically for the various ranges of Dimash’s voice. Dimash presented it at the opening ceremonies of the second European Olympics last summer. Of course, Dimash sings all the voices that a regular cantata requires - basso, baritone, tenor, mezzo- soprano, soprano and even rising to coloratura. But then - just about all of Dimash performances are a pleasure to see and hear!

Hello, Adam. Thank you for your reaction and insights. This was 3 years ago, he was just 22; and he had no fans there because nobody knew him before this performance. The audience (who were also the judges, all ppl related to the music industry) was just giving a warm welcome to a foreign boy who was about to compete with proffesional known singers, all older than him and with solid fan bases. In the backstage footage you can see that he was extremely nervous. Yet, by the way he completely commanded the stage, you wouldn't say. I'll give my 2 cents on the interpretation; it was sublime and very moving, in my first contact with Dimash that was also through this performance, he had me crying and sobbing less than a minute after he started singing. The otherworldy vocals+ the lyrics just hit me like a wrecking ball. Some ppl say the song is about the thoughts of someone considering suicide; it's indeed an existential type of song, anybody who at least once has felt that he can't find a place in the world, would know what is it about. There is no one like Dimash, he is in a league of his own. If you want to hear his version of a known song, try Hello by Lionel Richie ( ruclips.net/video/nmyWxEm0xLk/видео.html) . I haven't heard anyone else like him either. I think it's safe to say no one has. Trust me, you'll really exhaust the adjectives for Dimash. This is just the beginning, you have a lot more to see of him. He was 22 in this performance, he's 26 now, from Kazakhstan, speaks Kazakh and Russian natively, working on his English too over this last 3 years, but he sings in many languages. He's classically trained, but later on, he studied contemporary music also and he took his MA degree in composition this year too. He also combines these with Kazakh folk. His control of all of his registers, all these genres and textures is insane. He also plays a few instruments. This was the first performance I saw of him, back in 2017 and he keeps surprising me even now, he keeps improving as a singer and as an artist, I haven't seen this amount of skills in any other singer. You haven't seen his low range, and whistle, and Eastern technique, and many other things yet. Your dad would appreciate Ogni Pietra very much, I think. I also recommend Sinful Passion too, this one is a cover, but he makes the covers his. If you want to check him more or less chronologically, the next would be Opera 2, the second performance within this Chinese show, but then you'll have plenty of other songs to check before getting to the two above. You'll see what a great man he is, not only a phenomenal artist and singer, he's more than vocal gymnastics and range. Addiction that I have no desire to leave behind. -- I could tell you so much about this song and Dimash, but I limit myself to just a few remarks. In 2017 Dimash was invited to participate in the Chinese Hunan Television yearly competition, Singer. He was 22 then and the youngest participant (you saw the other participants briefly.) He was assigned to be the first to sing. And did he sing! You saw the enthusiastic responses of his fellow contestants and the audience (500 people who acted as the judges). This is originally a French song, made famous in French by Grigori Lemarchal (who died at the age of 23 of cystic fibrosis.) The lyrics are the last thoughts, aspirations and memories of a dying man, except for the last line "Dodo l'enfant do," which are the words of the celestial beings who are to escort the by-now dead man to life everlasting. -- There are many tragedies attached to "Le S.O.S. d'un terrien en détresse," some even personal to Dimash. Yet, I don't go into those now.

The lyrics are as beautiful as the the song itself. It is about a person struggling with his/her life, and imagining being more happy if she/he could leave earth like a bird. It's one of the most famous songs in France, and the really sad part is that one of the most famous interprets of this song, having a terminal illness, won a song contest with this song, and died soon afterwards.

Loved your reaction! 99% of people who hear him for the first time feel the same. That 1% just has a different taste in music, or unfortunately they're jealous. I'm 73 and discovered him about two years ago when I was watching someone reacting to Queen who mentioned his name twice. I'm sure happy I was curious to see who he was talking about. I'm not ashamed to admit I've listened to him every single day since! He just makes me feel happier and more peaceful. And what a wonderful person he is with a talented and supportive family. Both his parents are singers. If you want an English song, the first one that comes to mind is The Show Must Go On by Queen. Please keep in mind that it's from this same show from 2017 and he didn't know much English at the time. Try to ignore those mispronounced words. Even there I applaud him for even trying to sing in English when he couldn't speak it. Amazing huh?

Adelin Dio I’m so happy for the dears that get to be with Dimash even for just a few moments But I feel sorry in the sweetest way possible for him who is overwhelmed by it, maybe just a little apprehensive that some crazy dear is out there that could do him harm even unintentionally. The Beatles used to have their hair pulled out by their fans and sometimes their jackets pulled off as Momentos for that fan. Some of us can get carried away and lose control. Over time they have adjusted the fans and how and where they can meet him and that is certainly a good thing for Dimash and his entourage that is usually accompanying him. "The Singer" is an annual Chinese TV show for highly respected Chinese singers to compete. Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan is 6ft 3, 1/4 and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. Because of his age and the fact he was a wild card selection, he was asked to perform first. No pressure!! To add to the complexity, he sang in French! The audience went wild for him! When the show was broadcast that night on TV to approximately 600 million Chinese households he had to have bodyguards the next morning for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist and just turned 26 on the 24th of May. His tour of the world to sold out arenas with his solo concerts was placed on hold until next year due to Covid-19. He also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, and is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses. when I first heard Dimash I was blown away!! I have never heard a male voice with a six
octave range in my life! The back story on Dimash is fascinating. He is a first born son
in Kazakhstan and, in their culture, the first born son is raised by the grandmother. His mother
is an opera singer and his father is a well known singer. Because he showed he loved music
from an early age, his grandmother had him classically trained from the age of five (5).
The world first heard of him in approximately 2017.
SOS was written in 1978 by a Frenchman named Michael Berger and, the song was an omage
to a young friend with a wide range that passed away. It was deliberately written with a range
that most singers could not reach. It was written in French and a perfect song for Dimash.

I loved your reaction. Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan. The song “SOS” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the five most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash performed here at the 2017 "I AM A SINGER" competition. It is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers where the audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. The audience is the same throughout the entire show, 500 with musical backgrounds and they judge the show by points each week. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only.
This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest given that he was completely unknown to the audience. He had been invited as a wildcard and was the first foreigner and youngest person to ever compete in the show. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th, for his rendition of “Adagio”, a song made famous by Lara Fabian.

I am 66 and like you I have never ever felt about a singer, can’t call him a singer, vocal artist, like I do about Dimash. I had no teqchnical knowledge of vocals but I only had to hear one verse to know Dimash is totally unique and touched my heart and soul. I found him by accident while watching ice skating about 4 months ago. No idea why i clicked on his song but I was dimashified in an instant and totally addicted. Every spare minute I have is taken up with Dimash. I have watched every vocal coach and voice analyst I can find to understand what he does and why he is so mind blowing. And of course everything I can about the beautiful person he is. Oh for a son who loves his mother like Dimash

We have lost count of how many Dimash fan clubs there are in the world and of how many awards and acknowledgments were conferred on him also by the president of Kazakhstan for giving impetus to musical culture. I can't even begin to tell you how much of a superfan I am.
Dimash is a 26 year, 191cm (6'3") tall, old singer/songerwriter/multi instrumentalist from Kazakhstan. Located close to China & Russia. He speaks in 3 languages, sings in more than 12, and plays many instruments from piano to dombra. He's been singing since the age of 5. His parents are both musicians. His dad is a lyricist and his mom sings opera. He also is a very active young man and plays many sports. He has been known to enjoy swimming and has learned some of his breathing techniques from that. He rose to popularity because of the performance of SOS on the show 'The Singer', a chinese show, back in 2017. The performance you reacted to. Unfortunately you can't see how many views he has but that performance has over 1 billion views on various video platforms in China. He was the only non-Chinese competitor on the show and was put in as a wildcard even through the show had professional artists. His life basically changed overnight. He currently hold a degrees in vocals and has his master's in music composition. Dimash also has a 6 octave range, getting closer to 7 now a days. Honestly the range isn't really what sets him apart as the world's best vocalist in my opinion. He's extremely versatile. He sings songs in all different genres/styles, sings with so much passion, and has unbelievable stage presence. Dimash calls his fans Dears because they are dear to his heart and if you continue this Dimash journey, I'm positive you will become one too :).
As far as to what to listen to next, he sings pretty much all genres. He incorporates many different styles (mostly classical) into different songs or covers. A lot of superfans would suggest you watch the "evolution" of him from all his performances on The Singer series in China in 2017. I don't care about that personally so I would suggest something more modern for you like "Across Endless Dimensions". About 141 all incredible songs to go. We are dears, and we are millions, all over the world. Everybody should have the chance to listen to him, but you see, many do not know what real singing is. Thank you ! Also Dimash is an incredible human being, much more than just a singer/ performer. He is a man of principles, and did not choose for a contract with a record company. That is why he is not played on radio or seen on TV. But he is a free person this way ! Love it, although I would love him to be known more in the west.

All of Krutoy’s songs and compositions are gorgeously lyrical, constructed superbly. The two of them together make music magic! Ogni Pietra was as I said, a cantata written specifically for the various ranges of Dimash’s voice. Dimash presented it at the opening ceremonies of the second European Olympics last summer. Of course, Dimash sings all the voices that a regular cantata requires - basso, baritone, tenor, mezzo- soprano, soprano and even rising to coloratura.
But then - just about all of Dimash performances are a pleasure to see and hear!

This was 3 years ago, he was just 22; and he had no fans there because nobody knew him before this performance. The audience (who were also the judges, all ppl related to the music industry) was just giving a warm welcome to a foreign boy who was about to compete with proffesional known singers, all older than him and with solid fan bases. In the backstage footage you can see that he was extremely nervous. Yet, by the way he completely commanded the stage, you wouldn't say.
I'll give my 2 cents on the interpretation; it was sublime and very moving, in my first contact with Dimash that was also through this performance, he had me crying and sobbing less than a minute after he started singing. The otherworldy vocals+ the lyrics just hit me like a wrecking ball. Some ppl say the song is about the thoughts of someone considering suicide; it's indeed an existential type of song, anybody who at least once has felt that he can't find a place in the world, would know what is it about.
There is no one like Dimash, he is in a league of his own.
If you want to hear his version of a known song, try Hello by Lionel Richie ( ruclips.net/video/nmyWxEm0xLk/видео.html) . His English is not the best (his French wasn't either, it improved in later performances, but once his voice gets you, you couldn't care less)

He has an amazing technical control of his voice, and then interpretation, emoting, charisma... it will never be too late for anyone to discover Dimash. Worth listening to around the globe. I haven't heard anyone else like him either. I think it's safe to say no one has. Trust me, you'll really exhaust the adjectives for Dimash. This is just the beginning, you have a lot more to see of him. He was 22 in this performance, he's 26 now, from Kazakhstan, speaks Kazakh and Russian natively, working on his English too over this last 3 years, but he sings in many languages. He's classically trained, but later on, he studied contemporary music also and he took his MA degree in composition this year too. He also combines these with Kazakh folk. His control of all of his registers, all these genres and textures is insane. He also plays a few instruments. This was the first performance I saw of him, back in 2017 and he keeps surprising me even now, he keeps improving as a singer and as an artist, I haven't seen this amount of skills in any other singer. You haven't seen his low range, and whistle, and Eastern technique, and many other things yet. Your dad would appreciate Ogni Pietra very much, I think. I also recommend Sinful Passion too, this one is a cover, but he makes the covers his. If you want to check him more or less chronologically, the next would be Opera 2, the second performance within this Chinese show, but then you'll have plenty of other songs to check before getting to the two above.
You'll see what a great man he is, not only a phenomenal artist and singer, he's more than vocal gymnastics and range. He calls his fans Dears (we're praising him a lot, but you'll understand more and more why), and we'll guide you on this beautiful journey. What cracks me up is those were not whistle notes for Dimash. Watched a pro review this. she pointed out that it was just a hair under whistle. She was the 1st to appreciate just from this song what Dimash was truly capable of.
Dear Adam (Dimash calls his fans "Dears"). Your first reaction was much like mine, when I watched this same video three and a half years ago. I was addicted immediately. Addiction that I have no desire to leave behind. -- I could tell you so much about this song and Dimash, but I limit myself to just a few remarks. In 2017 Dimash was invited to participate in the Chinese Hunan Television yearly competition, Singer. He was 22 then and the youngest participant (you saw the other participants briefly.) He was assigned to be the first to sing. And did he sing! You saw the enthusiastic responses of his fellow contestants and the audience (500 people who acted as the judges). This is originally a French song, made famous in French by Grigori Lemarchal (who died at the age of 23 of cystic fibrosis.) The lyrics are the last thoughts, aspirations and memories of a dying man, except for the last line "Dodo l'enfant do," which are the words of the celestial beings who are to escort the by-now dead man to life everlasting. -- There are many tragedies attached to "Le S.O.S. d'un terrien en détresse," some even personal to Dimash. Yet, I don't go into those now.
Adam, we've all been in your shoes. He is Mr. Next Level. That baby face has been in the trade for over 20 years. More impressive than his 6 octave range is the fact that he is a hard working and a humble man, considerate, a kind human being.
I'm sure you know Show Must Go On by Queen. Well, Dimash sang it on episode 3 on Singer 2017. Dimash didn't speak English then and learnt it phonetically. It's another dimension really.....you couldn't even begin to imagine.....
Dimash has an army of fans around the world, out of mercy, he calls his fans- Dears! Feel free to show others, Dimash is the only one in his league and the best voice in the world. He sings seven octaves and in 12 languages. He is very musically educated, he plays several instruments, he is a composer and one of his favorite composers and songwriters who wrote him the most beautiful songs ever is Igor Kurtoy.

The lyrics are as beautiful as the the song itself. It is about a person struggling with his/her life, and imagining being more happy if she/he could leave earth like a bird. It's one of the most famous songs in France, and the really sad part is that one of the most famous interprets of this song, having a terminal illness, won a song contest with this song, and died soon afterwards.

Loved your reaction! 99% of people who hear him for the first time feel the same. That 1% just has a different taste in music, or unfortunately they're jealous. I'm 73 and discovered him about two years ago when I was watching someone reacting to Queen who mentioned his name twice. I'm sure happy I was curious to see who he was talking about. I'm not ashamed to admit I've listened to him every single day since! He just makes me feel happier and more peaceful. And what a wonderful person he is with a talented and supportive family. Both his parents are singers. If you want an English song, the first one that comes to mind is The Show Must Go On by Queen. Please keep in mind that it's from this same show from 2017 and he didn't know much English at the time. Try to ignore those mispronounced words. Even there I applaud him for even trying to sing in English when he couldn't speak it. Amazing huh?

Goosebumps right inside my spine. Dimash is a human alien from the Borats Kazakstan country singing a french song in a Chinese talent show. He also swallowed a piano when he was young hence the mind blowing and stupefying Vocal range from A to Z.

Adelin Dio I’m so happy for the dears that get to be with Dimash even for just a few moments But I feel sorry in the sweetest way possible for him who is overwhelmed by it, maybe just a little apprehensive that some crazy dear is out there that could do him harm even unintentionally. The Beatles used to have their hair pulled out by their fans and sometimes their jackets pulled off as Momentos for that fan. Some of us can get carried away and lose control. Over time they have adjusted the fans and how and where they can meet him and that is certainly a good thing for Dimash and his entourage that is usually accompanying him. I know 99.99% of the fans that meet him in airports would not dream of hurting him and he is such a great guy for letting them know the airport and time of his arrival. However that takes place, I certainly do not know. But I have seen dozens and dozens of airport departures and arrivals, and understand fully what’s going on in the fans minds and in the mind and heart of Dimash.

Dimash is classically trained in addition to many other areas he is trained in. He terms his own genre as Neoclassical, blending classical tones with other genres such as Pop, blues, ballads and even rap. I think your dad would most enjoy Ongi Pietra, a song written and composed for Dimash by the Russian composer" Igor Krutoy. It is the most classical sounding composition I've heard Dimash perform...with his own twist of course.

"The Singer" is an annual Chinese TV show for highly respected Chinese singers to compete. Dimash was the only non Chinese singer invited because the producer saw him perform for the Chinese and Kazakh presidents and was very impressed. He is from Kazakhstan is 6ft 3, 1/4 and was the youngest ever competitor in 2017 at only 22 years old. Because of his age and the fact he was a wild card selection, he was asked to perform first. No pressure!!
To add to the complexity, he sang in French! The audience went wild for him! When the show was broadcast that night on TV to approximately 600 million Chinese households he had to have bodyguards the next morning for the first time in his life as he had become a superstar overnight in China. He is now a world class artist and just turned 26 on the 24th of May. His tour of the world to sold out arenas with his solo concerts was placed on hold until next year due to Covid-19. He also performs in concerts with the famous Russian composer Igor Krutoy, and is constantly collecting awards, attends many prestigious red carpet events, film festivals and even models for lots of high end fashion houses.
He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition with a top mark of 100%. He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned it down for a more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. Dimash has been blessed with a God- given voice (you did mention “God, “Jesus” and “hell” ) ; and yes, “we are all going on a new and exciting voice direction”. But how does one classify his voice? Seeing reactions from people hearing him sing for the first time , astonishment, classifying and confusion are the expressions I see. And what is the answer?
