No minis? Did I hear that right? I thought you had some 2mm or 6mm Spanish Civil War stuff? Say, perhaps a deadline in the campaign could be a couple of months IF the Austroregnans hold onto that silver mine. Because having a silver mine means the South can mortgage it, or use it as collateral for a huge loan to bring in Hammers Slammers or Falkenberg - and ain't no homegrown Northern force going to be able to push those professionals out of the way. (Lots of suggestions for rules I see. I'll toss yet another in - Nordic Weasel's FiveCore Brigade Commander. Low cognitive load, small table needed and eminently suited to solo play)
The depth in this campaign is fantastic! Feels more hex and counter-y without either, which id a fantastic twist. Looking forward to the next installment as always!
One extra characteristic for the generals might be their risk appetite, eg Rommel making high risk attacks during the desert war, bringing lots of early victories but causing problems due to supply shortages, Montgomery being more risk averse but eventually victorious.
Another rules suggestion I would make is to check the Pz8 Wargaming Rules, they have platoons as the base unit but you could easily call it a company and be happy with it. The WWII rules would work here, but there's a couple variations that would work for you.
If minis be scarce you can cut out some cardboard chits and mark them with standard military icons for the troop type.
Yes, especially for the scale you're playing at.
Sabot bases with one or two figures on them representing their unit could also work.

A great set of rules to look at is "Seven Days to the River Rhine" by Great Escape Games for this scale

Having a very good time watching it. Looking forward to seeing how the war plays out👍

Based on the politics of things I still think the south will raise in revolt the moment the army moves north. Maybe even in support of the noth
Lol, that would be awesome!
