I’m sorry you are dealing with this. Does anyone else in your family have multiple trichoepitheliomas? This often happens as part of a syndrome as you may already know. The good news is that they are benign but I realize they may be cosmetically very frustrating for many patients. Best wishes to you.
You are stating that in trichoepithelioma no clefting is seen and is evident by the slide you are showing. However, as a dermatology trainee I would like to point out that in Rooks it is stated that "the stroma in trichoepithelioma is distinctive in that it contains clefts"
That's brilliant talk on this entity; many thanks Dr Gardner. You have touched upon this not so uncommon difficulty of very small punch biopsies from nose eyelids and ears for basaloid lesions; wherein one may not be confident of the significance of CK20; do you study 5 levels of CK20; related problem is the possibility of infunfibulocystic BCC. Can you please share your approach to this condition.
This is extremely informative and helpful to me. Recently I reported one basaloid appearing dermal tumour with hair follicular differentiation. I shall be interested to know from you about the histogenesis of these tumors towards different morphological lineages. Thank you.
Thanks! Here’s another video about basaloid differential diagnosis: kikoxp.com/posts/6348. And I have other videos and digital slides of specific follicular tumor entities listed here: A complete organized library of all my videos, digital slides, pics, & sample pathology reports is available here: kikoxp.com/posts/5084 (dermpath) & kikoxp.com/posts/5083 (bone/soft tissue sarcoma pathology).
