I would give my life to be able to see Luciano perform. I feel weird since I’m a younger guy in my 20s and no one my age listens to this kind of music. But this is the only music I feel in my bones and impacts me, I love it and I wish I had more people to talk to about it even though I’m a novice
And those of us who did see, hear, meet him, and more, what gives me great pleasure is as you are in your 20s are many in the world hearing Luciano for a first time. It is the shock and surprise a voice as Pavarotti's brings you to share. I just inside a week had shared the pleasure of this Golden Age of Opera with the likes if Luciano. He had been dumb struck what he took time to search of him and discover listening to one of the most greatest lirica tenor voices. Enjoy, but listen to others of that time. What a rich time of so many manny singers. My life has been rich. And so is yours. Best to you. 🕊🕯
I had the pleasure and honor of attending this concert. It's impossible to describe how beautiful it was. The setting, the acoustics of the Cathedral, unbelievable. Thanks God for letting me attend.
I have been wondering for the last 14 years, how it would feel to attend such an immortal concert, i keep close my eyes and try to imagine. you are very lucky. God bless you and your family.
Without any doubt one of the best and more powerful tenor voices we had ever hear. Miss Pavarotti unique voice and way to sing while smiling!!!!!! 💚 🙏🏾 🙏🏾 🙏🏾
@@melvinsamuelbrackettalvare82 He was smiling because the music gave him genuine joy. And when you saw the smile, especially in person, the beautiful emotion was infectious. He was an angel.
It should be presented with Pavarotti singing Adeste Fidelis as the VERY LAST selection on the program, AFTER the Hallelujah Chorus. This is how it has been originally presented to us and it makes infinitely more sense.
Back in the mid 80 when my kids were very young we sat down and watched this Pavarotti special. It was so beautiful, so spiritual, that I went and bought the CD and since then its being played every Christmas in my house. This show is a treasure.
I had the absolute privilege of meeting Pavarotti at the Philadelohia Academy of music while he was the judge of the international voice competitions. He was gifted in every aspect of performance and was an outstanding teacher. He would stop all these contestants and show them how it should be done. Then meeting him in the Academy ballroom was such an honor. He carried felt tip markers so he could gladly sign autographs. What a loss when he passed.
Dear friends, I cordially congratulate you on the world-saving holiday of the Bright Nativity of Christ, wish everyone a peaceful state of mind, inspiration in creativity, in work, in the family, may the light of the star of Bethlehem illuminate your hearts and give love, faith and hope for the best, take care of yourself, the loving Lord bless you all! One of the greatest Christmas concert specials ever produced. Luciano's powerful, passionate vocals are skillfully backed by the fine orchestra and choral ensembles under the baton of Maestro Franz-Paul Decker.

A Scots friend of mine said, in beautiful Scots accent, that Luciano Pavarotti's singing turned her knees to water. I remember doorstepping Pavarotti at his Covent Garden dressing room, after he had sung one of the most demanding roles in Opera, as the tenor lead in Verdi's Aida. And yet he was undaunted, still brimming over with Italian charm and energy, willingly signing photographs for our party: "Avete bambini? Alora un' altr' autographia!" I pay tribute to the voice and the man of great heart.
It absolutely did! I had the great good fortune of hearing him in person one time many years ago, and I just sat in awe, his voice pouring over me. I'll never forget it.
This concert in this holy setting is simply priceless! I love it when the boy soprano comes forward to sing the duet with Luciano! I have to say that I listen to this concert at least once during the Christmas season for the last 10 years And I look forward to it every year. It makes the season for me and renews my faith.
I can't say enough how much I appreciate his contribution of the one and only magnificent voice to the world. Now we have a lonely Christmas without him.
This presentation brings a myriad of emotions, it is more applicable today than it ever has been as there are those who would like to silence the humanity in us. Thanks so much for sharing this.

It was a beautiful concert, but why couldn't this be given to us as originally presented to us, with the last two selections as originally given, with the Halleujah Chorus followed by Adeste Fidelis which concluded the concert? I had to trouble myself, and it wasn't simple, to move the cursor to enable myself to hear it as it should be heard. It was very difficult to get it accurately. I only wish that another posting of this will appear with the last two selections in the correct sequence.
For sheer gut-wrenching emotional power, I strongly urge you to listen to Jackie Evancho's 2010 recording of "O Holy Night", recorded when she was just ten years of age.
What was he like as a HuMan? I try to like him as many do, but his expressionless face, lack of warmth, life and love leaves me untouched, disappointed, and that doesn't seem congruent with his fine voice. I loved Gösta Winbergh, he had, care, warmth and depth as a HuMan opera singer. I'd be very interested in comments and corrections on this.
There's a lot of emotion on his face and especially in the eyes during this concert. You've just missed it. He may look stern or serious but that's actually being emotional a lot of times. Plus, if this had been recorded today not 45 years back the picture would be much clearer and there's another reason it can be missed. I cry many times watching because I see the emotion.
@Medietos I came across a concert of Pavarotti's which has an interview of his at 1:05 ("a mini-documentary"). Not only did it reinforce the idea of a lovely, warm person I already had of him but it also made me (again) think that this isn't the 'simplest' person on the planet, but the very contrary. Not that I would have perceived him as such, but nevertheless the idea one gets of him is so very different from the idea you get watching him on stage. ruclips.net/video/UHQEoTPGie8/видео.htmlsi=-vUctHXkYS0HEi7G
