I like Owen for what you said it's like he has respect and awe for indominus rex as a creature whereas Claire using 'it' might indicate she just treats it as an animal that generate revenue for the park. The difference might be subtle in choice of word but it come from a very different mind set.
@@Tiga9003 Yep, Owen respects it as an Apex Predator and one of great lethal capabilities and high intelligence. It may be a "creature", but at the end of the day it's more than just a "pet", or "attraction", it's it's animal he knows has been essentially mistreated/locked up in isolation, and is now a product of its environment.
“We are talking about an animal here” That line echoes the lessons of this franchise so well, that we as humans are so narcissistic and prideful that we think we are smarter than any other species we come across and can exert our control on anything
This line and the line from the first movie "Your Scientists Were So Preoccupied With Whether Or Not They Could, They Didn’t Stop To Think If They Should" basically encapsulates all the wealthy individuals in these movies
mad respect for the trooper who stood vigilant as it charged, firing his shotgun over and over in an attempt to slow the indominus and buy his boys time to get rhe wpunded out.

I mean to be fair the net gun seems to have been the only effective weapon they had. It at least slowed it down for a few seconds, more than the rest of them can say.
I love the dialogue from Owen here. "You raised her in captivity, she does not know what she is" like, even animals are taught when to kill and why. There is a difference between an animal killing because its parents taught it to kill for food, than having to figure it out yourself, with no reference. "She will kill everything" is simply because there is no order in that intelligent mind of hers, just chaos, curiosity, fear.
That what I love with the movie, the contrast ebtween powerfull people with money playing gods with thing they don’t even undertand while those that actually know what they are doing have to clean their mess.
I feel like Owen was the most qualified person to run that place! He understands animals in a way no one else in the whole park did! He wasn’t really ever wrong during the movie.
Not to run the place, but he should been in charge of the dinosaurs (whatever that title is), like make sure they're raised and released in the right, controlled environment
Bring an empath for animals doesn’t qualify you to run a whole facility full of genetically hybrid of non existent species that was resurrected through test tubes. You tree huggers are completely naive and foolish thinkers
I also like how he's "this is a dangerous animal, you need to use lethal force to take it down." Too often you get animal experts trying to save animals for research for environmental diversity. Like, I'm sorry, Demeter, that shark has killed multiple people, or sorry, Neveah, this dino is literally going on a rampage, you don't understand it, and it doesn't understand ITSELF!
I think part of the difference is Claire is (obviously) a women. A women with visible emotion. Most of the "moneybags" type characters are entire men or stone-cold women who audiences never relate to. Claire is more sympathetic because 1.) She's a major character (they don't give much relation or detailed backstory to side or minor characters), and 2.) She's shown having some conflict about loyalty to her work and loyalty to her family (her nephews).

Yeah, I liked that about the film. Owen knew, understood, and respected the animals. Claire didn’t give two shits...and stayed cold and distant from them; viewing them just as theme park attractions and walking dollar signs.
I know everyone hated Claire saying “We would never reopen” after watching a massacre. But I honestly feel it’s a believable response. This whole situation is completely overwhelming to her and her response is something she has a better understanding of. She gets over it quick and does order the evacuation. It’s honestly a bit relatable.
Her only thought was about the time and money invested in the park. Oh and the financial losses. They value money more than humans so that's all they care about. Their costly parks and 26 million dollar hybrid "animal".
I mean this is how the real world operates too at least in the US. They do not care if people die so long as they are profitable. Granted just these deaths would cost them dearly, but closing down the entire park that they've invested millions if not billions into is a major loss.

MhazG yeah, I haven’t watched this movie in a while so I forgot she could lower her body heat or whatever too to be undetectable by thermal. You’re right, radar/sonar would probably be too inundated in a jungle like that. Even so, the I rex is a massive creature, and I mean that in terms of her actual mass. Maybe some form of X Ray? Though they would probably be hesitant since the owner guy had already expressed how expensive of an asset it was. Hmm. I’m sure there’s some answer of how you could detect it but it would certainly be a tricky problem.
Jurassic Park and its movies are a retelling of the Cathars. Look them up. Thousands of them were slaughtered for not being Christians in the Languedoc region of France hundreds of years ago. The pope who ordered the massacre was asked by the Christian soldiers tasked with slaughtering them how they should recognize Cathars from Christians living in the area as well and he told them, "Kill them all, God will recognize his own."
@@Lenny.262 The Cathars are dualist christians but christians nonetheless. They were slaughtered because they did not adhere to the Catholic doctrine. The same massacre happened also with the Huguenots (Calvinist Christians) of France. Louis XIV claimed to have reduced their population from 800,000 to 1500 at that time.
I love seeing Chris Pratt taking on a smart character that deserves to be taken seriously and respected. I love him in Guardians of the Galaxy, but given that Quill’s behavior is ridiculous a majority of the time, though a lot of his humor I believe stems from an act of self preservation, his character just isn’t respected. Anyway, I just really love seeing him in a smart role where people have to acknowledge that he knows a lot more than they do and they have to respect him for that. It’s just absolutely awesome.
I hate how they treat Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy. Like at the end of End Game with him and Thor. "Oh yes, we know who's in charge here!" "You two should fight over it!" Jesus Christ. The man literally killed a superior, immortal being trying to make the entire universe part of himself and gave up that power as a sacrifice, he also held an infinity stone in his hand to prevent another powerful being from destroying an entire planet, but no, let's just treat him as the peppy side kick who gets into arguments with Thor over who is more manly.
@@Maniac742 Yeah, and the thing is, he is actually smart. Street-smart and resourceful. The issue isn't really his abilities it's just the fact that he somehow hasn't done enough to earn respect. But whether the character's who work with him can see that or not, it is important for the audience to recognize that he is not an idiot. I've seen a lot of comments about how it was his fault that they were unable to defeat Thanos in Infinity War because his emotions over Gamora got the best of him. Spoiler alert: he's human. Feeling emotion is part of that and unfortunately, our response to having our heart ripped out isn't always the most rational one. Anyway, just my opinion. :)

@@willbyys7936 Yeah, but the guys he brought in were his personal task force. Park security and even ACU didn’t know about this until it was already happening.
For me, one of the things that is so chilling about this scene is the way they tied almost every death back to the heart monitors. For example, you see the first guy get grabbed and he is broken free and then you get such a scary sense of mortality when the Indo steps forward and crushes him and then immediately after it shows his heart monitor go blank. He didn't even have enough time to process he just got crushed to death, he just was there one minute and the next gone. Same exact thing happened to the guy who didn't see it coming when the tree was knocked over on top of him. He saw what was about to happen but didn't have any moment to process it. This is one of the VERY FEW death scenes in film that actually gets me chills to think about because they kept tying it back to the heart monitors. Such a smart choice by the director do do this.
It also gives them names, makes them human. It's such a normal action movie thing to have a pack of soldiers/security/whatever exist to get wrecked by the baddie, but these guys were all named
The funniest part about this movie for me is that Owen is actually more similar to the Alan Grant from the books than Sam Neil's version was in the first and third movies. Not that I particularly mind, both Sam Neil and Chris Pratt did excellent jobs in their respective movies.
@@johnairplane7612 Dr Grant, in the books, is much more the rugged, action hero type like Owen, instead of the more bookish, less physical type that Sam plays him as.
The sad thing about this scene is, it’s entirely accurate. Money is king, money rules everything. And people are willing to go to great lengths in order to make money, even let people die.
In reality they would not just send some stupid team to go after it with non lethals. They'd either kill it and make another one; or they'd lure it to a trap.
The CGI itself isn't bad. It's just highly overused. What made Jurassic Park's CGI unique was that they did everything in their power to avoid using it, only reserving it for anything that couldn't be done practically. Here, it's the opposite, where they use CGI almost everywhere except for like 1 or 2 scenes.
@@4everDestinii Actually, it's not even really because they didn't have the technology. They clearly did have the tech to make exclusively CGI dinos, and there is test footage and testament to show that. Spielberg, however, chose to use it sparingly so that they could focus on making the dinosaurs real.
@@NagandEmerald And the dinosaurs look real in this movie as well. Sure Steven Spielberg used better imagination and scenery but this movie also did good to make it look realistic and it looks VERY realistic compared to the 1993 one which you can tell the obvious CGI in it, but the 90s films did have realistic parts to it but Jurassic World had even more.
I can just imagine how exciting it is for an animal to unrestrictedly be able to walk freely in what would seem like infinite space for the first time.
Everyone is acting like the people in this scene aren't being true to life. C'mon of course the corporation is going to protect 30 million dollars over a few human lives.
They arent being true to life cause idiocy is the only answer when you're trying to take down a giant man eating killing machine that's hundreds of times bigger than you, with nothing more than a few tazers and a mini shot gun to slow it down. Also you're not gonna take the advice of your animal expert on the fact it can blend in like Camilion? These people are stupid, they wouldnt act this way even if they were worried about losing their assets. Deaths is a bigger loss than an animal. The only risk worse than losing your 27 million dollar Dino is your multi BILLION dollar bussiness going extinct because you didnt handle with care.
The lawsuits resulting from the deaths of all the troopers sent to capture the indominus are going to be far more than 30 million. In the books one death of any of the visitors to the island was around 15 million IIRC in settlement costs. This is a lot of people. Then when all the visitors are attacked by the dinosaurs that racks up even more money.
Cost of the people Rex has killed is huge, but the cost to the island/ the park/ the whole project is even bigger. It's already ruined, they are just not wanting to face the facts. And so their greed is their undoing.
How the hell were they even allowed to open in the first place? After everything that happened in the first three movies, who decided that ANOTHER park should be built and this time actually open up to the public...? While I enjoyed the hell out of Jurassic World, I don't buy its premise at all. That's a massive plot hole that's difficult to for me to ignore.
Claire and Owens dynamic was such a fun part of this movie. He's fully aware of how to progress the situation and is thinking realistically, hes aware of the control he needs to exert to keep everyone safe. Claire on the other hand is absolutely losing it trying to appeal to the higher ups wishes while knowing that she's in the wrong and dooming people. That little yell of "you are not in control!" when she isn't either is brilliant.
You would need bodies to prove the indo rex did the killing. No one in there right mind is going to go to that place to get the bodies. There is still raptors and a rex on that island at the end of the movie.
@JurassicHero 3 what on earth are you talking about "26 million dollars invested in that assest"? Thats less than the total lawsuits for the families of those people
This is what happens when you create a genetic hybrid, completely underestimate it intellectually and physically, and ignore the warnings of Starlord himself. People die, and their blood isn't just on the hybrid's hands, it's on yours too, Claire.
well his character in this film he's an animal expert but like most times in both film and reality those who believe they are of a higher intelligence ignore those who have experience with certain creatures and situations and that's something I don't think people realize is more real and happens more times than they'd think.
@@Fureiji88 This happened in real life too. Higher ups thinking they're all knowing just because they got a fancy diplomas and high position and thinking the cashiers, mechanics, etc, don't know anything cause they aren't educated in the theory.

*hires an animal expert with extensive knowledge of animal psychology and dinosaur species* *doesn't listen to him, when he is literally the most experienced and qualified person on the island *
Honestly, the most realistic part of the movie. I see it all the time, the people with the most education and experience at any given place are the ones that get totally ignored, especially when they say things like "this is stupid", and "you're going to get someone killed".
These characters are actually pretty smart. YOU try to think intelligently when a 9 ton monstrosity with camouflage and a mouth full of razors is running rampant on the same island you’re on

I like that the Indominus Rex is never too out in the open at first… it has a more sneaky, evasive way of hunting and killing before it really figures out how powerful it is. @@lennoxschannel7484 It did kill a significant portion of the squad though, that was the Indominus’s clue that it could try its skills on larger prey to test its strength.
3:09 At this scene and this scene alien, you can’t clearly see the injured operative being dragged away to the vehicles and the other soldier running away through the jungle.
That depends on what technology the device was using. It would have to be large either way. If it's gps-based, it would have to have a good enough receiver to receive GPS signals through the dino skin and be able to retransmit the data either via GPS uplink or LMR frequencies. Since we learn in the second movie that all the dinos can be tracked from the control room at a high point with a radio tower, I'm guessing most of the dinosaurs' trackers run on LMR frequencies, most likely UHF 900mhz ISM band. Could possibly be 400-500mhz, but not likely due to restrictions for antenna size.
@@flounder2760 That kind of power generation requires a continuous high speed motion. Also the power supply to the device would stop as soon as the dinosaur stopped moving meaning that tracking wouldn't be possible when it's still. So not feasible.
Owen is actually being smart, the Buisnessmen and Claire literally decided to sacrifice dozens of men and women who by the way, have their heart pulses at a zero, for 49 million, and they ignore the advice of the Dino expert who raised a whole pack of raptors and controls almost all of their movements (at least until Indi showed up and took command).
He's just as stupid as everyone else. He leads his team into the Indo's cage for which there was absolutely no reason for this. @@doofkos Wrong. First of all Owen let the raptors communicate to the Indominus Rex to see if the Indo would do anything. Finally, he lead the 2 other people into the cage with him because they were checking if Indominus Rex was still in there and how deep the claw marks were. Re-watch the movie please😐😐
@@itzcaprizun, no need to. There is no logical reason why Owen should wait for a reaction from the Indo. The plan was to kill the animal, not study how it reacts to the raptors. It is and remains incredibly stupid that they went into the cage before they knew where the animal was.
The way Claire was more worried about the fact that they’d never reopen rather then worrying about all the lives at stake INCLUDING HER NEPHEWS, was insane.

You're all basically trillionaires already and you can still think of more ways to make money?
They are still smart enough to have brought live-fire weapons with them though. Which is pretty much how real life zoos and wildlife parks operate too- if an animal classified as dangerous escapes, you try to recapture with tranquilizers or other method. If it seems like it will breach the facility perimeter or threatens human life, then lethal force is used. The troopers should have immediately opened fire with firearms after their commander died, but that would have taken time to transition from tranqs to live rounds. So I can’t fault them too much for trying to contain her with the weapons they already had at the ready. Panic and all that.

"She does not know what she is." What Owen means is every creature on this planet has a sense of what it is by what it can do and they can identify others like it by similar mannerisms. She is the product of a t-rex and a velociraptor (actually a utahraptor to be more accurate on the size though very similar in DNA) hybrid. Raised in captivity with no other dinosaur, she doesn't know how to handle any other dinosaur except kill them because she can't identify with any of them. She doesn't even know she's supposed to kill to eat, not kill for sport. There's nothing there to teach her. @@flounder2760 Another note I should add that I forgot to: have you ever had a cat and a dog at the same time and raised them together from infancy maybe with one of the parents? What you would see often is one species will believe it's the other if there is nothing else to imprint upon. A dog can act like a cat (or thinks it's one) if raised among a litter of kittens. Indominus was never raised around anything but isolation. She had nothing to imprint upon to tell her proper mannerisms...except the humans who maintained her cage and being a highly intelligent animal, she probably watched how they did things and mimicked some of their movements. It helps that she has human DNA mixed in but that's scary that the only thing close that she can relate to are humans because they are the only ones she's seen. When she encounters the raptors, notice how she's mimicking conversing like we humans do with one another, moving her head between the four like a manager would do if they were speaking to all their employees at once. She's imprinted on humans. She truly is the most deadly dinosaur created.

The sad thing about this scene is, it’s entirely accurate. Money is king, money rules everything. And people are willing to go to great lengths in order to make money, even let people die.
Simple solution. It's called communism.
Not money, money by themselves are nothing. Greed, meaning us humans are to blame.
and it makes that point by essentially hitting you over the head with a brick
In reality they would not just send some stupid team to go after it with non lethals. They'd either kill it and make another one; or they'd lure it to a trap.
Essentially that's the point of the Jurassic park/world movies and books.
I really can't understand how can anyone say the CGI from this movie is bad
People just like to complain for no reason.
@@NagandEmerald gee maybe because it’s 2024 and we have advanced in technology since 1993??? Just a thought…
@@4everDestinii Actually, it's not even really because they didn't have the technology.

The lawsuits for the deaths of those troopers would be more than the investment into that asset they should've killed the indominus rex

They can clone dinosaurs but tracking devices are large as light bulbs.
Must've been because of the battery required. It needs to be till the end of her life.
@@burzum8312 or it was powered by a magnet getting shaken through a copper coil by the movement of her body.
@@flounder2760 That kind of power generation requires a continuous high speed motion. Also the power supply to the device would stop as soon as the dinosaur stopped moving meaning that tracking wouldn't be possible when it's still. So not feasible.
All the money went on the dinosaurs. They had to cut corners
Later he gives the Raptors and Indo a great deal of time to communicate and ally against him instead of shooting the Indo immediatly.
Tell me who would be so incredibly stupid, (after everything that has already happened) to wait and see what happens instead of shooting the Indo immediately?
@@doofkos Wrong. First of all Owen let the raptors communicate to the Indominus Rex to see if the Indo would do anything. Second of all, It would have been much stupider if Owen shot the Indo immediately, cause the Indo would have also immediately attacked him and the others and the movie would completely end.
So a fight to the death was inevitable.

0:50 I don't know how they still managed to think of the money they spent creating Indominus to not have used lethal weapons. Stupidity in its purest form. Wasn't it already obvious that this thing is stronger and smarter than a T-Rex? Of course you can just kill it.

If someone told you a creation or a hybrid isn't doing what the creatures it's made up of do and says something like this, that's when you panic because the rules have changed and things will go wrong.
except by that logic every animal in the park living solitary in their own enclosure like the t rex or the mosasaur would all act like the indominus.
@@flounder2760 But the Mosasaurus and the T-Rex have seen humans and more than likely if the T-Rex really is the same from the first movie as its implied, she already knows what she is through the years she spent among the isle interacting with various species.
