It's so interesting how he has added & subtracted little riffs & details of many of his songs over the years, and for me every song seems to have a "sweet spot" era. Anyway, great observation there.
I'm an "edgey", even "alternative", smart, introspective "grungey" music listener, and I think Billy is an exceptional musician who transcends genres. I love Billly Joel the way I love Van Halen. Music is God and whether that is Billy Joel or Van Halen, they are equal in divine. You take all of it, for what it is, and love having been enriched by what you have just heard. Go forth, haven't been rocked.
