Very good description of the unusual character of this whisky. I do not think this is underaged (blend of whiskies between 4 and 11 years) but to some palates maybe under-oaked (no sweet ex-bourbon or ex-Sherry notes). If you want Scotch look-a-likes go to Armorik. As for Epistème it is even more unique (a mix of brandy and mezcal - pure young rye in Cognac casks). I like it less - definitely "try before buy". As for Serge he likes distillate driven whisky and Hautes Glaces (and Glann Ar Mor). But many French Whiskies get bad scores.
I feel you're just making excuses for this distillery. Everything they've done has been overpriced, under-matured and difficult to drink. This is supposed to be whisky, not grappa. Even Roy from aquavitae was struggling to find anything positive to say about them. Sorry!
Incredibly, you are able to have a different opinion on something compared to someone in the same field. Sherry matued whisky tastes mightly like sherry rather than whisky, but you don't hear people complaining about that. If it all tasted the same, then the world would be rather boring.

I really enjoyed this stuff! Was a perfect summer time whisky.
Serge gave Domaine des Hautes Glaces 'Epistémè R18P23 Yellow Square' 91 points. Could he be biased? who knows.
Who knows, indeed. It's a decent liquid with a different flavour to anything typical in single malt. It deserves to have attention given to it.
I think the price point is just a little bit on the high side for 44% if it was 46% maybe
Yeah, it's the only downside to it. The price has dropped a little through online retailers. Could be worth considering now.
