    I have done this many times. 1st never cancel your current plan if you are porting a number. It will cancel when your number port goes thru. Do this about 3 days before your current billing cycle ends in case of porting issues. Porting time ranges from minutes to hours to days. Typically is takes 10 minutes to 3 hours. Have your current account number and pin. When you port you will be asked for your phone number, account number and pin. Triple check these numbers as you give them to the new carrier. If this information is so much as 1 digit wrong the port will fail! The porting mechanics are different for each carrier. Read and understand the steps before you start.

    • @Tech-geeky
      @Tech-geeky Год назад

      not important. You'd only do that on a phone if that's all you have, but these days most people at least would have a 2nd phone/tablet/pc/ etc they can activate on. No point in setting yourself for trouble down the line, unless you have no choice. I guess you can't cater for everyone, but the % of users that only have a phone, and nothing would be small compared to people having multiple devices... In this day and age, the most, wins..
      its sux... because i get great NBN over copper :P

    yea so this is really not very good information... I am trying to switch my verizon to Tmoble and Tmobile could not even get ahold of verizon. I was in the store for hours. The guy helped 3 other customers while we waited what verizon said would be 20 minutes to get my transfer pin. 2 hours later we were still on hold... I can't create an account with verizon because my phone fell in a mudpuddle and I never created an account prior to that. (you must create an account using your verizon phone) So what now?

  • @sleepwalkerZZZ

    I was just wanting to know if I used my same phone do I literally just take the SIM card from the previous carrier out? If so, turn off phone first or do something before turning off phone. This video seemed to assume that it is known what to do. I don't want to do anything to risk losing contacts or anything or mess up my phone. After knowing what to do there I don't know if I leave the phone off and then insert the new SIM with the phone still turned off and then turn it on? Or turn the phone on without the SIM card in and with the phone turned on then put the SIM in. Am I going to lose any data or anything making that switch. Also before starting am I supposed to set my phone back to factory settings before even starting? I've only ever started a service with a brand new phone. I don't want to mess my one whole phone up and I don't want to lose anything I already have on the phone. I feel a few things were left out here. And I'm really afraid of messing something up. I definitely don't want to lose my phone number. :-/

    I'm thinking about leaving Verizon for AT&T. Will AT&T take care of everything and close your Verizon account as well? I bought an iPhone 13 Pro outright from Verizon. I would assume that it would be unlocked. AT&T seems to have a massive 5G footprint over Verizon. Currently no 5G coverage in northern Michigan with Verizon but according to the coverage map on AT&T they DO have 5G coverage here.

    Im switching from Boost to Mint on my Moto. Ported my # to Mint, then contacted Boost to Carrier Unlock my phone. Now its day 4...still locked. Phone recognizes the Boost Sim and gives signal strength. When inserting the Mint Sim, it says No Sim. Mint says the Sim will be recognized after Boost unlocks the phone. Does that sound right?

      I think there's a way to unlock your device from your phone without calling cause I have had a luck on my phone and when I put my new sim card it did not work so no your sim card will not work on another carrier until that device is unlocked and until you unlock your device then your device is locked and your sim card will not work at all

    • @CinemaKev24
      @CinemaKev24 2 года назад

      @@whitneyfjohnson The problem is I brought my unlocked Moto to Boost and I believe they then locked it to their net without telling me. So years later, I port over to Mint and presume my phone is still unlocked. Of course it wont see 2 different Mint SIMs. Ended up buying a new phone. Will throw away the old one....too much of a pain to fix at this point.
