Sweet. Do Africa next
Finally someone remembers that Toto has other songs worthy of covering.
So many good ones!
Like Europe. and The Americas
I mean, the best Toto tune is Rosanna, not Africa.
Dune soundtrack next?
Other? This is their hardest rocking hit songs.
That was so fun…Thanks for having me “on board” All hail yacht-metal 🤟🛳
that solo was easily the best part of the cover, no offense to the others ofc. Hope you lend your talents to the channel again!
Thank you for smashing that solo!
Your smile says it all man. Thanks for being a familiar face on 2min2LateNight.
that was an awesome solo!
A classic guitar God! That solo ripped the only way it should! Thank you sir!
I liked the solo in the original, but not surprised in the least that Alex Skolnick smashed this solo out of the park. Everyone did, really.
Alex was actually much closer to the original than I expected. Not complaining, it was great, I just thought he'd do more of his own thing.
I thought he surprisingly kept it very close to Lukather's original solo and I thought that was pretty cool.
That original solo is awesome!
Fuck me I was searching cause I thought I bet someone has done a killer metal cover of this, and the first one I see has Rody singing. Chefs kiss
In a post covid world, I'm going to miss GH jumping off his sofa. He'll always be jumping off his sofa in our hearts.
Thank you SO SO much for doing the "keyboard player resting on their elbow" shot *chef's kiss*
I could honestly listen to Rody sing bangers from the 70's and 80's all day!
Alex Skolnick absolutely nailed the solo.
Alex has been killing it on Charlie Benante's channel over the last year and a half.
@@roguelead72 to be fair Alex has been killing with the guitar for a very long time
Props to Rody, Totos vocals are notoriously difficult
After seeing Rody pull off songs like this, Protest The Hero NEEDS to put out an album of prog metal yacht rock covers.
Love to hear him belt out some Christopher Cross!
I saw him sing some opera song on his channel just now. It's actually beautiful.
Rody doing Dead Man's Party was my favourite performance yet, can't wait for this one!
Maybe I'm biased (huge Elfman fan) but that's still my favorite. This gets a close second. Mostly for Skolnick. We need Chuck Billy to cover another Queen song!
PtH already has the yacht video for Limb from Limb!
Toto was so crazy musically, wildly talented musicians making what I assume they thought would be smash pop hits. Some of them were! Some of them were not!
Thank you for keeping the solo as is because that is seriously one of the best solos in rock!
Lots of unraveling here. Every part of this was interpreted brilliantly, but shout out to the drums. Also, Protest The Hero is a band I didn't know I needed.
I'm so down for Toto metal covers. This one is so solid.
And don't think I didn't notice the SWEET bass playing by Samantha...and an even sweeter Dissection shirt!
Gentlemen! Phoenomenal!!
Alex is such an underrated guitarist, totally nails everything I’ve ever seen him do 🤘🎸😬
What makes you say that. I think he's been rated appropiately. As a really good guitarist.
@@gikkelman844 yeah everybody throws around the underrated label here. alex is rated as one of the best ever
You literally just described the opposite of underrated.
Can we get a Spotify playlist of these covers? alot of these are genuine SLAPPERS
You can get them on Bandcamp Fridays. Mark your calendar!
Definitely need a Spotify playlist
I was saying the exact same damn thing for the Where Is My Mind cover
Yes please!!
Major props for using captain ron AND cabin boy clips
Emily Lee is a superstar.
Hell yeah! But when are we getting the Lover Boy we all deserve?
Maybe some Aldo Nova
@@guitarampcontroller490 yeah, you get it
Sam is my homie and Frozen Soul are awesome! Glad to see her play in one of your videos! 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Rody is a goddamn legend. GG, everyone.
Y'all are keeping the fire. Good shit
Skolnick has such great tone for a metal guitarist. I like all Testament but his stuff is brilliant.
Hey, this Rody guy has pipes.
Roddy Piper?
Holy crap Rody's Vox sounds FANTASTIC! Killer job yall!
This is pure genius. More yacht rock covers please. I think this unit could pull off some Steely Dan.
You missed this one then... ruclips.net/video/UwmTk-BQB1k/видео.html
@@toolbox137 Nice!!!! 👌
They did Reelin in the years
i initally searched "hold the line metal cover" ask a joke. holy fuck, is the joke on me now.
The boy Rody brought me here 🖤🖤
Protest the Hero has been PUSHED on me since 2006, and I have have just not cared for them until now. Now they are my new favorite band.
samantha is a badass, one of the nicest people in metal that i’ve spoken to
Everytime I hear this song on the radio I sing "Love isn't always a crime". I can't be the only one
Leaving aside the great arrangements and musicianship, these covers just sound fantastic. Can't wait for the next one!
Rody is a legend. Can't wait to see them tour the new album. Come back to Newfoundland protest!
RODY! YES! I was lookin forward to another appearance after that fuckin LEGENDARY Oingo cover ❤️🤘
Awesome cover. My fave Toto song.
amazing editing, well done, respectful and bomb cover - as always
DAAAAAAAAAANNNNMMMMM! This is one heavy load. Props to all, special shout to that bass line and bass player though, that's really solid.
Been waiting for a new bedroom cover. Awesome as usual!
This is too fun and Alex RIPPED that solo!
Fantastic!!!!
Another banger with Rody Walker
that, YALL, kicks ass!!
Yacht metal is my favorite metal
Damn!
You captured boat/yacht rock vibe so so well with those movie clips 😂🤣 🤌🏻
Skolnick is a BEAST
This might be the best one yet hahah Rody kills this song hell yeah
As always, Rody delivers the style on point😂
Alex murdered that solo! HOLY SHIT!!
I love all these covers, but somehow Emily Lee always makes them next level! Great job!
This has to be the first time in history anyone has ever successfully covered a song by this band.
Ninja Sex Party did a great cover of Africa, but this is finally a great cover thats not Africa
Cover bands play this a lot.
@@drinfernodds Best Africa cover is by the Hackney Colliery Band.
LOVE the Cabin Boy clips!
such a funny movie
I keep coming back to this cause its SO. FUCKING. WELL. DONE.
As a metalhead who grew up loving toto (especially this song), this is fucking awesome!
Nailed it!
Holy F**k this is the best version ever, sounds great on xtc :)))
Loved this !!
How did you know that Protest The Hero is one of my fav groups..... This is an amazing track..
Came for the Toto, stayed for the cat in a sailor hat
Can we get more of Emily’s dog? It’s enthusiasm is contagious!!
One of my favorite drum lines of all time! This one holds up!!
Still want that Cover of “Korea” by The Deftones. But I’m always happy with your work.
Emily Lee is the glue that holds this cover together!!
Hell yeah😎💥💯🤘
F ya! Drums were killer!
guitar solo epic as well. obviously vocals nailed it and the rest of ya absolutely ROCK!
The way you guys ended that song was cool as hell!
Forgot your channel existed. F@cling great covers with surprise guest players. Absolutely great content thanks.
The best Toto song
That was fantastic! Rody's vocals actually reminded me live versions with Jean Michel Byron when he was in Toto.
PS When anyone covers Hold The Line, I always hope someone would include solo from Crying In The Rain (Whitesnake 1987 version) instead of the original, it blends perfectly back to the final verse of Hold The Line :D
I was thinking "Water World" and then it pops up! Awesome! Great video edit on this too \m/
Skolnik is such a multi-faceted legend.
AZ refreshing as a can of tab ! Well done 👏
I love this original song. Reminds me of GTA San Andreas
Samantha!! So sick
rody you’re the goddamn best
vocals and solo absolutely ripped.
Slayin the classics🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Well Damn.
Well Done.
'Now that's what I call Metal' should be a bi-monthly contribution.
Skolnick always has the best tone for every cover he does
Wow .. You all fucking smashed this !!!! Great cover !!!!
This is fucking amazing.
Hell yeah!! And Rody nails it!!
This was fucking awesome! It was true to the original, but just a bit heavier! Toto have so many great songs, and it's good to hear someone covering something other than Africa!
I’m subbed for more medium quality entertainment
we got u fam
@@TwoMinutesToLateNight [amplification intensifies]
That was incredible!
Closest to metal that Toto got. Just a great guitar tune really
Another fabulous cover!
Awesome dudes! Hey Alex!
ALEX SKOLNICK!
300 likes with zero dislikes has to be some kind of record.
Edit: 600 and no likes??? No trolls here today. Only big brain sophisticated folks.
780 likes no dislikes wtf
@@dwreck it was over 1000 with zero dislikes and honestly that meant more to us than any birthday gift. Thank you for watching!
That was fucking awesome. Alex and Tanner make a great combo
Freaking SWEET!!! Thought Toto was highly underrated...Steve Lukather is a MONSTER & Alex did such a great job on the solo.
Hats off to every member who participated in this cover....PHENOMENAL!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I saw him playing with Ringo Starr's All Star Band a few years ago, was nailing the Santana stuff, they played.
Ummm... That was Alex freakin' Skolnick, in case you all didn't notice.
10 out of 10
THIS is the Toto Metal cover I've really been waiting for!
Forget Africa, this is by far Toto's best song. And it gets even better with a sweet Alex Skolnick solo.
Rosanna >
