Back when this episode came out the creator David Jenkins confirmed that the dueling scene was a stand-in for a sex scene 😏😅 I think you're the first person I've seen recognize that Ed had Stede's golden robe in the bathtub 😭💖 I love the fan theory that Stede made Izzy angry on purpose to provoke him into making a mistake 😆 Lucius and Pete cuteness just sneaks up you in the best way 🥰 I'm loving the reactions and I'm excited to see more 💖💜🏳️🌈🏴☠️

The Kracken was (sort of) real- I believe its generally thought now that the Kracken was based on actual sightings of the giant squid (or dead ones that washed up, since giant squids are usually deep ocean creatures).

Yeah, the sword fight is definitely sexual in nature. It's meant to show us that Edward's only experience with physical intimacy is through violence. I have to stress how much I adore the fact that in the bathtub scene, Ed acts like a small child. It's something that can actually happen to people during or after a PTSD episode but in movies and shows it's almost entirely exclusive to women. Men are only ever shown reacting to severe stress and trauma with aggression. So it was incredibly refreshing.
Such a great idea to rewatch episodes before watching the next new one. This show rewards rewatches SO much. I've seen it countless times and even now people on Twitter will occasionally point out a detail I've never noticed. It's so well crafted
And to reiterate another commenter here, STAGED is the best thing that happened with David Tennant and Michael Sheen, after GO or as far as I'm concerned, quite as delightful. I giggled and cried in equal amounts.
Yeah, the part where "Edwood" (now that we know Blackbeard's actual first name) said "I'm not a good person" made me tear up, and when Stede replied "I'm your friend" really didn't help XD (i binged it when you first reacted, but man, this scene is so good to look into blackbeard as a person)
Well I suppose if your gonna get run through I guess (what looks like a rapier) would be best cleaner wound less internal damage if u missed any vital parts
