Danny's quirk is like Momo's creation but he can only pull random items out of his sleeves 😂
Don’t forget his pants
The DISTRESS in nicks voice when Danny wipped out the banana from his pants will forever kill me
People really hated on Nobara's backstory when I didn't see a problem with it. They also seemed to not care as much for her death which is crazy because up until now, she's been a decent character
I loved her backstory because it felt like a Ghibli movie but as a short-film.
I'm mad that she's dead because she was a great female character.
they forgot about her good moments like the chair talk and the cursed wombs
Her backstory was all abt that she had a good life Nothing crazy, sad shit happened
her life was good until mahito came in with that slap 💀
Also a lot of people didn't like that she just let mahito touch her
Because her backstory doesn't really tell you anything new that we didn't know about her so it taking up half the episode is pretty bad. Also, the reason why people have a problem with her death is that she barely did anything in the show as a main character. So it comes off as just shock factor.
I love nobara and I cared abt her backstory but it did feel too long. It was half the episode after she was touched by mahito, it took the tempo and the shock out of it imo. I didn't care abt fumi at all, maybe I just forgot abt her but I swear she wasn't mentioned in S1 right?? (I'm anime only) Saori was introduced but I don't think fumi was so I was like nobara is dying why do we have a 10min cut away told from the POV of character we have not at all seen?
I swear Kugisaki Nobara was designed for the sole purpose of exposing the anime communities total lack of media literacy...
The way so many people entirely forgot that we already covered the Saori thing once and that this was fleshing it out is insane
Never thought I’d hear the phrase “get thug out of jail” here I love this podcast
Sukuna used Yuji's body to destroy most of the city and killed countless ppl and Danny thinks he has no lasting damage😂?Nobara's village hated her friend just because they were different... no other reason.Nanami bring taken out in front of Yuji meant nothing to Danny😂
Apothecary Diaries is like “Finally some good poison.”
Fr maomaos like YES POISON
Delectable poison or Deadly poison
I'll never understand Danny's takes on JJK, especially regarding Nobara's backstory. I really liked it, it's not overly tragic and feels like it could have happened to anyone. Which makes sadder in my opinion when she dies. That being said it's very entertaining listening to your banter
It’s was boring get to the fight
Also why didn't she try to avoid mahito
Because doing a backstory before killing her is cheap. And the backstory isn't interesting at all. We already knew she was sad about her friend leaving.
Exactly. Like everyone isn't going to have a tragic backstory like Naruto or One Piece. Her's was the most down to earth and when else would they show it? Yall be mad if it was randomly place in S2 before or after her death
@@saitama53034 look... in the manga she did try to dodge and it was explained that she didnt see the swap and mahito was covering the other clone so she left her guard down against his technique because the clone couldnt use it and she thought that was the clone
Knowing his audience I can’t believe Danny didn’t know about apothecary diaries it is SOOO GOOD. It has munder and Mistry and also soo just his channel
Nobara's death had me in tears Danny wtf😭
It didn’t hit me that hard but I knew it was gonna happen so it doesn’t count for me
It hits a little less when they make it so goddamn obvious with sticking the 10 minute backstory right before it happens
Saori’s house was vandalized for the same reason Fumo was bullied and for the same reason Nobara hater her town. They were outsiders that didn’t fit in and the community alienated them because of that. They might not have been that different. They probably did nothing. They were in a small town and weren’t raised there their whole life which meant they were strangers that should have been judged. That’s why Nobara pushed people away, because she didn’t want to be in community with people that could be like that and didn’t want to be part of the larger family of the town. So, she decided she didn’t need anyone but outsiders. People she could escape the town through.
58:00 the entire backstory is pretty realistic [ I don't 100% know I read a yt comment] they just hate outsiders
her mom was in a cult that's why they hated sari
Its just not been revealed
Omg Nick not noticing anything until Danny started pulling out bananas from his pants is hilarious 😂
Also I started watching this podcast around a month ago and today I found myself waiting for this episode
57:58 in season 1 of jjk in Nobara's og backstory they explain that saori is from a big city and the villagers feel as if she discriminates against the villagers due to her being from a big city.
Bro that still sounds boring
@@jd7337 it’s not great but it is an explanation
@@jd7337it's not supposed to be tragic, it's something that could happen to anyone, that's the thing with Nobara. She was a pretty normal girl overall, imo makes it even sadder she died, because she could have just gone home and didn't bc she felt a duty to help her friends even if it costed her life.
Silly nick falling for Danny’s trap card 😂😂😂
Nick going megumi is good, hes alright with that smile on his face LMFAOOOOOOOO 😂😂😂😂
it was said why Saori's house got vandalized when nobara first appeared in the manga also literally people who found this episode boring or her backstory to be more specific just didnt care about her character and will blame the series for that just because they dont remember absolutely anything from season 1 and how much characterization she had through different fights and diologue for example let me list the fights that some of those people dont even remember happened in season 1. Nobara vs that curse when she first appeared . The way she acted during that fight and her decisions gave us an idea of who she is, next mai vs nobara it fleshed out her relatioship with Maki and what type of people she likes. One of the most important fights for us to understand who she is and what she believes in was nobara vs momo literally when i instantly realized how good of a female character she is as a female myself she became one of my favourites. finally nobara and yuji vs death paintings brothers it fleshed out her relationship with yuji specifically and how crazy and determined she can be and of course her power . Her backstory was perfect her life literally flashed before her eyes and so she realized that she had a good life and died happy thinking of the good times and the people important to her who take over seats in her life something she had also mentioned in season 1 for how she feels about others and who she chooses to care for and be important to her that "there are only so many seats in her heart" that conversation she had with yuji after they became "murderers" should also show how much of a comfort she was for him and why her death was very devastating for him
W comment
Nobara never having a single onscreen conversation with Gojo is still crazy to me.
Really?
@oceanapearl3503 yeah she never actually talked to gojo directly. She always talked with everybody but him. Like how megumi would talk to gojo randomly in a couple recent flashbacks? Nobara never had a one on one conversation with him
Danny channeling his inner Ryuk with apples this episode!
1:12:55 Apothecary Diaries is so good. Doubt either of you would be interested in it but I love it.
Yeppp that synopsis doesn’t really do it any justice. I feel like it definitely fits Danny’s channel a lot more I do think he’d enjoy it
Definitely not for everyone but it’s definitely a Danny show lol nick wouldn’t like it
really hit em with the "it's fun, you'll hate it" before it became a thing
Danny watching Clone Wars fills me with so much happiness
danny once again giving unattainable body standards
Danny’s take on Nanami/Nobara is interesting, because in the fandom, it’s Nanami’s death that caused the most grief. By far.
I think Saori was mentioned earlier in the manga as well, hinting at her being driven out.
Danny's new theme song is "Fruit Salad Yummy Yummy!" by The Wiggles.
Frieren and Apothecary Diaries are by far the best shows this season. Frieren should go without saying, but I'm curious to see If Nick changes his tune in the upcoming episodes. The later though, Maomao is the most fun protagonist I've seen in recent memory. It covers a variety of dark themes, some interesting medical mysteries and has gorgeous animation. Of course, I would never expect these two to vibe with it, as it's not for everyone. Although, sometimes I wonder why I still watch these podcasts because of how little overlap I have with their anime takes...
Oh, wait, that's right! It's because of Danny and his hilarious food bits (and Bungo Stray Dogs).
Periodt. I've been reading the manga forever! Let's pressure Danny to watch one of them!
That guts saying skeletons follow me was hilarious 😂
Apothecary Diaries is fantastic. It's pretty more or less tied with Frieren as my favourite shows this season. Y'all just need to realize people want to watch things that give them joy and peace 🤷🏿♂️ JJK is too traumatic, for both girls and guys 😅
So true. We aren't trying to see a bunch of action all the time. Sometimes we want more calm ans chill anime
@@micah459 Yep, as much as I love JJK, I don't look forward to watching it in the same way I do with Dr Stone, Frieren and Apothecary Diaries. It's more like, preparing myself for pain 😅
@KeangoDLuke I literally have the opposite feeling about getting hype for JJK as opposed to needing to be in a headspace for Dr. STONE. I was way more on board in Season 1, when the show leaned way harder into exploring the actual science, but now that we've gotten to a point where we're just glossing over it to get to them taking the lion's share of three episodes to establish a plot point when you could have done this entire plot line in that amount of time has me needing to prepare for the amount of expositional faffing about
@@danlongwell6240 are you up to date with Dr Stone? Because this season has been absolutely fantastic. I can see that complaint with the last season but this one has been faultless imo
@KeangoDLuke Yeah, I believe I just watched the most recent episode. Like I said, I think Season 1 was better cause they actually took time to build characters internally and explain the science in detail. Now, Senku's science just feels like a total rectal-pull superpower that sets up bits, and Ryusui and Soyuz are very one-note characters. I enjoy them, and I like the overall plot of this season, but every time I go to watch the show I feel like I need to prepare for it to be 75% bits or people being like "gee Senku sure is smort" and 25% plot advancement/character development.
That's not true of the most recent one, to be fair, last episode slapped, but I feel like we could've either gotten here more quickly or I could've gotten more show vs. tell in Senku's scientific mind.
They vandalized her home because she was an outsider/city person in the small village it was covered the first time they tell her backstory
The Bount arc being mentioned in a trial is fucking insane
The reason that Saori’s family was ostracized by the community is hinted at in the anime only. When Saori is speaking to her boss, there’s a brief image that focuses on a part of her desk with various energy drinks. In that shot there’s also a picture of Saori and two women, and they’re all hugging. It’s implied that those are Saori’s two moms - thus, implied that the village hated them bc of homophobia
I really hope this podcast is still a thing years later when the rest of jjk is animated because im dure current manga stuff will make danny happy 💀
Yall ever have guests 👀 asking for a friend.
they do
well well well, fancy seeing you here
His smirk while saying megumi is alright 😂😂
In Episode 3 of Season 1, we had Nobara's flashback before.
The people of the land just hated Saori being from the city (which is an actual thing).
Them not liking Frieren or The Apothecary diaries is crazy. They probably just don't like slice of life anime since the only Shounen I've heard them talk about is Bagou Stray Dogs
Yeah i agree, they need to widen their horizons cause i like shonen as well but frieren is good and its manga is even better. Being too shonen focused without other types of shows to expand your palate is what makes Nick say that boruto is top 3 currently running manga😂.
so the first minute caught me of cause one of my friends names is rochelle so when he said "what kinda name is rochelle" i thought it was so funny
I indeed know somebody named rochelle😭😭😭
This episode really hits my feels as i once ate 28 apples in one day as a 12 year old at summer camp
Shen and Fuuko's abilities are both based on them liking the target of their abilities. Neither of them like Victor so their powers dont work.
I think the tall bookcase on the right is upside down, and now I can’t stop staring at it. The only way to fix this is to flip the left one upside down to match.
the title of this episode is sick... i love it
8:15
Dude, we public defenders have a ton of cases at once, specially over there in the us, we can’t always strike it out of the ballpark
Are you trying to say sometimes wires get crossed and you accidentally catch the jury up on the latest anime episode instead of defending your client? 😂
Funny that Dandadan is being animated and directed by the same producer and studio as Devilman Crybaby and the character designer is the same one from Mob Psycho 100 😂 y’all called it!
Every pod we have to now guess what Danny has in his sleeves 😂😂
Danny’s best boy put a smile on my face but only because he’s in for it
This draft segment is absolutely my favorite and I completely agree with nicks stand on breaking the stigma.
Science Saru also made the Scott Pilgrim show
Science Saru is actually a really big Studio. They were founded by Masaaki Yuasa, and anímate a lot of his projects
I was waiting for Danny to start pulling grapes out of his pants with the bananas. I loved this bit
In middle school I had this nickname that only stuck for a week, Inventory. The reason is because I had this running joke for a few years of somehow always having exactly 4 and a half pounds of random but possibly useful shit that I would just randomly pull out at random times. The fruit bit just sent me all the way back.
I still carry all the shit I just don't use it as bit anymore.
Was your inventory hidden from sight
Yes. I wore big shirts to cover the pockets of my pants and wore jackets fucking massive pockets.... and I just realized that question was a reference.
Super Saiyan 4 is a much cooler design than Super Saiyan Blue/Super Saiyan God
Agreed!!
Bc it's an actual transformation. Not just a recolor
"He's good. Megumi's alright."
Omg the cheeky foreshadowing, I'm dead ☠️
best podcast rn
love how fast you guys are uploading now
I physically *could not* breath when Danny was pulling the fruit out of his clothes
Seeing the cheese mouth incident live was too funny 😂
Nick like "itachis eyes weren't red cause of the sharingan"
Danny should bring neck banana bread next week 😂
The best part of my day is when these angels press upload 👏
58:02 sayori getting bullied out of the village is a Japanese culture thing
1. The people of Kyoto used to up facades of kindness because they didn’t want to be murdered by powerful people. 2.Japanese people don’t like people who stand out from the standard something like hair color will get you bullied till you dye it black. 3. There’s a lot of disasters in Japan so people trust others in their community more than outsiders and sayori was too kind, foreign, and not up to Japanese norm. I took this from @mahistv and his latest video so take what I said with a grain of salt and watch his video for even more context.
Oh man i havent laughed so hard in a long time over the entire banter during the fruit reveal bit and not rochelle bit
I really like the feeder/mukbang route the podcast is going latley
1:03:17 Nick reassures Danny of Megumi's status: "He's... he's good... Megumi's alright" (followed with blinking + dead-eyed grinning) 😬
(I'm a previously spoiled anime-only, sigh... 🫠 -but love Nick's expression there 😂)
Correction on the young thug coke open it was Truly Humble Under God not Thoroughly Humble Under God he also said pushing P meant pushing positivity and the lawyer talking about the blunt arc wasn’t young thugs lawyer but another persons involved with the case and she was saying her client is the side character 😂
26:00 i vaguely remembered this convo and i just found it again and it still had me flabbergasted
1:04:29 I couldn't agree more with Nick here. I was waiting only for two things in Shibuya arc, the first one was Yuuji shouting Nanamin on top of the building and the second one is gonna be the next episode
Its been theorized that part of the backlash may have been due to her or her parents being gay. Then during the episode we see a photo of her with two older women. We dont know for sure if those are her parents but it does lean into the theory more.
Totally didn't hop on RUclips from spotify to watch the apple/ banana bit go down, had me confused too
51:13 I do dissagee with nicks statement here, cus we’re had multiple fantastic female characters in shonen for YEARS at this point
Not really lol. Aside from like from CSM, who else?
@@za-ir5ni bleach, fairy tale, one piece, ass class, Aot, Yu Yu hakushow, demon slayer, mha, black clover, Eden zero, full metal, black lagoon, love is war, zom 100 so much more. And I’m just listening shonen
@@jaredtheastralartist2510 I was talking about in recent years. But no way you snuck in Bleach, Demon Slayer, MHA, Black Clover, Zom100 lol. Especially MHA. You just listed every shonen you can think of when female characters are handled poorly in all those series except for like FMA and Black Lagoon. Mikasa from AoT for example is not a good character
@@za-ir5ni what do you mean handle poorly!?!? All of the have great characterisation, useful in the situation they are in. 3 dimensional with tons of depth to them. Really great development, and all of them are really likable and awesome while standing out from each other!
Also, how is mikasa not a great female character? She is tide to eren in a sence, but that’s part of her development and what drives her choices. And ultimately she has to deal with those feelings in the finale.
Also Mha female are great. Y’all trippen
@@jaredtheastralartist2510 Either mostly fanservice or barely contribute or have relevance to the story. There is no depth to them at all. It seems like you think literally every character in every shonen are amazing characters by your standards lol.
Exactly, Mikasa is defined by Eren and just "badass female" trope.
And everything about MHA is terrible so hell no does it handle female characters at all. Your take is terrible.
The ending was fantastic
HELL YEAH PODCAST EPISODE FOR MY BIRTHDAY LESS GOOO
Yo happy birthday 🎉
@@Rose-yv5sf Thanks 👍
danny, pls continue this food in the sleeves bit. it's hilarious
The “he’s good, megumi’s good..”
Made me die laughing 😭 I can’t wait for the next few episodes to see Danny’s reaction
Other than the anime reviews and news really loving the cold openings Nick and Danny does 😂😂😂
i hope everyone enjoyed that few seconds of seeing danny's six pack
58:00 Saori left the small village because everyone was being assholes to her family for being outsiders from a big city. They went over this in the very first season of the show. They vandalized her dad's car too.
Nick touching Danny’s warm banana is the kind of content I expect to see on your only.. I mean Patreon
I was yelling at the screen because Science Saru made devil man crybaby and Scott Pilgrim takes off and was mad that they didn't know. lol
western vs eastern animation difference: Western animators place frames equidistant from each other giving that choppy effect danny spoke about. eastern animation space frames closer together during fast movement to give more fluid visuals - give a look up its kinda fascinating
If you dont care about mystery apothecary aint for you. I loved summertime rendering and heavenly delusion so this is perfect for me
Invincible being shown on Amazon prime does not mean they have a big budget. That's not how these studios work. If anyone they have less of a budget out of greed and control.
To me still to this day she ain't dead she's alive and kicking cause until Gege blatantly states she's gone then I'll believe it or if in story character's say or show she's dead then I'll believe that too. Also the Young Thug stuff killed me 🤣
Komi Can't Communicate is a shonen anime (targeted to young men) from the same genre of gimmick romcoms as the 100 girlfriends anime airing this season. You'll rarely find a season without a show like it thats main character has a girl he likes with a weird quirk (komi cant communicate, shikimoris not just a cutie, my dress up darling, miss nagatoro, girlfriend girlfriend, uzaki chan)
Science Saru is the studio behind Scott Pilgrim takes off, and I’m pretty sure they did Devilman Crybaby as well so it makes sense that he thought of Devilman
the reason they vandalized Saori's house is explained jn Nobara's intro ep in s1 I believe (or one of her first few eps). that's why the cutaway to her backstory bugged me so much in this ep. it was a retread of information we already knew. i wasn't mad at the anime for making it take so long, I was more mad at Gege for not giving us more Nobara development before she died. besides the backpack switching we hardly received any new insight to her before her death, and that was disappointing. it could have been a flashback to her training at Jujutsu High with the boys or the 2nd years, having her motivations change after the cursed womb brothers incident, SOMETHING
1:03:24 Nick's stare into nothingness as he says "He's good guys" (same) i am sobbing
46:50 omg the true concern of Nick when Danny ate the orange 🤣🤣
I litterally came to watch this episode on youtube because I was hearing this bitvon spotifybbut needed the visuals
Return of the Mad Demon has already thoroughly explored the poopy pants argument and how far a martial artist's pride can be pushed before they accept the poopiness and fight anyway. The MC is called the Mad Demon for a reason, he loves laxative poisons.
Her name is Fuko by the way and the reason shens ability didnt work on victor is because he has to like the person in order to activate it, also does Fuko’s unluck
Just wait till unrepair comes into the show and Fuchs everything up.
Nobora getting touched was such a ball tap she could be such a good character cool concept for a character too FUCK im not convinced shes dead now cause he said that he couldnt kill her with one touch so im banking on that and she weakened his abilities with her move so fuck it she not dead also they tell you in the first season thelat the villagers were mad at her for the people she worked for.
mahito said he couldn't kill nanami with one touch not her
@pau7886 you sure? I could've sworn I seen her in the subs
I love how he just says "megumis good" 😂😂😂
Science Saru has been around since 2014. Very underrated animation studio
I’ve been waiting for the pod ever since the jjk ep dropped
Question if I get Parton will I get to watch the live streams & if so is it audio only or an actual live stream???
39:40 legends of vox machina and maybe hazbin Hotel
Shigaraki, Eren, Mayuri, Dio, Greed(the blunt never moves past him). This is the worst I could think of without the ones you guys took. The berserk crew and mahito are good picks
I hope the banana becomes a regular on the show. She gave it all for the sake of entertainment. I salute you, Banana
Nice apple Danny.
You did not think that throught.
