The contrast of the sweet, innocent, yet powerful voices against that gritty djenty down-tuned metal alone starts to well me up. It just sounds SO BEAUTIFUL to me. Their songs are brilliantly crafted and the melodies always hit you . .so catchy . . .they could be singing about car insurance and it would still have this emotional effect. . .then add in the content of the lyrics and there go the waterworks. . . lol. . . . Thank you Kobi-Metal et al. Kitsunes UP! 🤘🦊🤘
IMO this is the best example of Su's preposterously pure voice. The live performances are SO good and powerful, but I think this video is such a good way to hear just how tonally clear her voice is. Plus it's got that sick crunchy opening. 100% with you on the emotional front. I definitely still feel it even after seeing this video many times.
Great reaction - and so worth all your efforts getting it unblocked, thanks for doing that. The tears make it a real reaction, it happens (for all the right reasons) quite often to some people when they listen to BABYMETAL. 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album. It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this as it is a Japanese martial art and reflects their culture - it also has no backward moves. In the video the figures in white were the girls all along and they were conjuring up their own inner demons to fight against. They beat the first, the second knocked them down but they got up to eventually defeat themselves (did you notice the reflections of each of the girls in their own eyes when the masks shattered and it was revealed as them? Not many people spot that). They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible. Moa catching the fly was a nod to Mr Miyagi in The Karate Kid. Mr Miyagi may have used chop sticks (and it may have taken him two or three films before he caught one), Moa caught her fly with her eyes closed - first time. This song and video won 2 awards. "Best Metal Video in MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2016" and "Best Metal Song in 6th Annual Loudwire Music Awards".
At some point in everyone's Babymetal journey, Su's voice will find a way to make you emotional. It happens with different songs for different people, but she has a knack for penetrating your heart strings 🤘🦊🦊🦊🤘

@@forsairnando5443 I'm mad because we didnt get too see who was taller after 2017. Yui and Moa had a ritual where they would compare each others growth each new tour. BM is Still Great but they were Greater with Yui.....Fact.
When Su hits those 2 long sustained notes at the end, it blows me away and shows how powerful and in control of her voice she is. The live versions are all phenomenal on this track. Love your reactions, thank you
Karate, the martial art, is all about constantly moving forward. There are no backwards movements. So that's kind of what the song is about. Moving forward and fighting through your obstacles, even if what's holding you back is your own fears, which was represented by the three figures in white, who were the girls own inner fears. It's also about being there for each other so you never have to fight alone, and fighting isn't the only option. I see that demonstrated by Su breaking the bricks and Yui kicking those wooden baseball bats, while Moa chooses to release the fly she caught. Compassion and mercy are as strong as your punches or kicks. That's my take on it anyway.
The only things I believe are missing from your analysis of karate(and Martial arts in general) are mastery and dedication to the/a craft, striving to be better everyday. Perhaps these words were implied in your analysis and I am just putting synonyms to your words. I would not be surprised either way. Cheers😊

I am Japanese. I watch a lot of Babymetal reaction videos, but I love the natural reaction that makes me feel the sensibility and personality of the reactor.
It's a message song that they say you can beat yourself. The scene of catching a fly is an episode from a famous novel in Japan, Musashi Miyamoto (宮本武蔵), but Moa is a gentle girl, so she has released it without killing it. Thank you from Japan
Actually Moametal said she got it from Karate Kid / Besto Kid. But that movie got it from Musashi Miyamoto (possibly from the scene in the Japane movie based on the book and myth or legend from a couple of hundred years ago)
@@autohmae Yes, if Moa said so, that would be correct. Musashi Miyamoto is a famous Samurai / Ronin of the Edo period (17th century) and the founder of the dual swords style. Awesome! Thank you for your persistence in getting this video available! Most times Su's second "Hashire!" at the end gives me chills, especially with headphones/earbuds. And from others' reports elsewhere that is not uncommon. The lives use the same choreo, as usual, and the Download 2016 (also known as Drownload from the rain) performance was a great one that still had the OG trio.
I've bumped up the numbers on this song video by listening and watching over and over. It's hard to miss the central message in the song that, sometimes the only person standing in the way of our personal progress is the person that we see in the mirror every day. You have to fight your inner demons to move through life's challenges, and our friends are our primary support. A good friend won't let you lay where you fall to wallow in self-pity, but will offer their hand to get you back on your feet. No one fights alone.

Glad that you agree with me on this one. I feel like this skyrocketed to my top 10 music videos of all time. The song, the choreography, the production, just everything is perfect. It kind of tells the story of continuing to give it your all even if you get knocked down. You get back up and try again. And it even says that frequently you find that you are your own enemy and have to overcome yourself, your own fears and limitations to succeed. Simple but profound in my mind. Karate isn't just about fighting, it's about personal discipline. All in all, my favorite Babymetal video.
If you just could see the live version on the first concert at Tokyo Dome in Sept 2016, 55000 in attendance, Karate was the last song before the encores, the girls were exhausted, even Su who has less dance routines as the lead singer, completely soaked in sweat, the spotlights reflecting on their wet necks... and they made the crowd jump like it was about to begin, not to end, they didn't give up an inch. I love them, the Slayer loving old fart that I am, I fell in love with these 3 literally kids when they started, Su's voice, the dance routines, the Kami band, the songs, the stage productions, everything is a delight for the senses
4:30 - Not a Bruce Lee reference but a Mr Miyagi reference from the orginal 'Karate Kid' film, where he catches a fly and kills it. Moa, being a much nicer person, lets it go a while later instead of killing it. The girls were asked by their choreographer to watch various martial arts movies to get inspiration for their dance moves and clearly Karate Kid was amongst them! 🦊🤘🦊🤘🦊
Lost my twin brother 4 years ago, and times were bad, I knew the band just never had listened to them, well some weeks after I lost my brother Karate showed up on youtube and now I'm a fan, I love there work, this song still keeps me up and strong, it's all about perseverance and not giving up... NOTE if you look into there eyes at the end of the video, you'll see there reflections, it's emotional
Yeah, this video was from 2016 and it won them a few awards :D I'm glad you got the video unblocked! In the last couple of months this particular video has been copyright blocked a lot! If you want to save some time, there are a lot of really good live performances with already a logo on top to avoid copyright issues on the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel! And you can find a reaaaally emotional song there: "No Rain No Rainbow" live at Legend S! Kitsune DA-O!
The song started with strong metal music, and then gradually showed the deep meaning of martial arts, which really moved me. Thanks your great reaction.
You guys are terrific! Love your chemistry together and your reactions are gr8! Thank you for fighting through the copyright nightmare to get Babymetal on your channel. Hope you will do more. Road of Resistance is a must! . . . .also: If there is one essential song that is Babymetal . . .most of "the One" (Babymetal and their fans) agrees it is Megitsune. It means female fox. Although most of the live performances are incredible, it is probably the only other official music video that is close to if not as good as Karate. Everything else is best live usually. Thank you and keep bringing us your take on all this wonderful music! . . .Kitsunes UP!!! 🔥🤘🦊🤘🔥
You are not the only channel that has had Babymetal videos unblocked lately. It seems like Babymetal themselves are stepping in and helping reactors which is amazing and I hope this trend continues. Fantastic reaction btw :)
Indeed. First time I heard them I remember feeling sooo divided between "this is so weird" and "this is so great". It was my first time listening to a japanese band. Today I'm listening a lot to Band-Maid also.
I love your reactions. Babymetal reactions are no exception of course. Don't worry Sharlene, I get emotional too listening to that song. Greetings from Germany to your beautiful country, I miss being there!
Nice one. Don't worry, lots of us who don't speak Japanese can get emotional with BABYMETAL. If you would like another music video try Megitsune, if you would like another live try IDZ live at Sonisphere 2014. BTW, IDZ is an anti-bullying song.
As has been mentioned a number of times below, it has a very powerful and positive message which is very much needed in these modern times. The idea of moving forwards, fighting your doubts , self confidence, self worth etc - not just individually but collectively. B Babymetal and Nightwish both got me through some hard times during this covid crisis. My last gig pre covid was Babymetal in London so I was very lucky. I have so many songs to suggest "Rondo of Nightmare", "Akatsuki" "No Rain no Rainbow" and "Amore" are all Su Metal solo songs with the Kami Band while the girls get a well earned rest! "Papaya" will make the hardest of hearts smile(which has a rap element). "Shanti Shanti" is a homaje to Indian/Bollywood culture. "Syncopation" is a personal favourite and my current favourite has a Latino slant to it "Night Night Burn" which has some wonderful choreography - 😀 not to be missed. Always look forward to your reactions - keep em coming!
Totally get what you say about Babymetal helping you get through the last 18 months. For me, it was Babymetal and Band-Maid rather than Nightwish but, as Lennon once wrote "Whatever gets you through the night (is alright)". I saw them in Feb 2020 in Cardiff and have been living off the memory ever since! 🦊🤘
Great reaction guys! I think many of us have the same emotional response to this song and the video enhances it. I believe the three of them were revealed under the masks and it showed they conquered their fears/challenges. Your Headbanger and Karate choices were good basic Babymetal song choices. They have so many amazing songs that touch upon many different sub genres of metal, most of which the best are live performances. Su-Metal has often said her favorite is Road of Resistance. Gimme Chocolate helped put them on the world map and you might consider No Rain No Rainbow if you want another good cry. 😊

Yeah their music is allot deeper and full of more thought than is apparent initially. It's also quite emotional at times, not unknown for reactors to have emotional responses to their music. Which is quite amazing when you consider it's usually non Japanese speaking reactors.
Every song in BABYMETAL is different. You definitely must see "Road of Resistance (Live in Japan), or the last MV "BxMxC". But any song, especially live, will be fine.Even the oldest songs
Don't worry I shed a tear Everytime I watch their video. They said the song was about bullying and overcoming it. Bullying is horrible. Be kind to one another. There you will find peace ✌🏾🕊️
Road of Resistance next if you haven't already! It's also worth checking out their live versions of songs (Akatsuki from Budokan, No Rain No Rainbow from Baptism XX Legend S show, Shine from The Forum). There's a multitude of songs to check out, all of which are different from each other!

this particular group I noticed has very good creative sing style talent. I love how into the second half of the song or almost near the end, the chorus and melodies change to have like a grand finale sound. Am I making sense? lol
I've said it many times before and I will continue to: this music video is a piece of art with how good it is all-around. The song is good, the lyrics mean something, they convey that meaning so well in the video, which is so simple and yet so well done. This was my second song down the foxhole a little over a year ago ("Distortion" being my first). There was no turning back and I found a nice area of the foxhole to call my own.

Great reaction! Thanks for reuploading the video, good job with the logo. Looking forward to your next Babymetal reaction!
Love that you got emotional. I did too and I'm a white hetero dude. Amazing and powerful and the video drills it home
Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!! Is their best song imo but Karate is the number two.
Lost my twin brother 4 years ago, and times were bad, I knew the band just never had listened to them, well some weeks after I lost my brother Karate showed up on youtube and now I'm a fan, I love there work, this song still keeps me up and strong, it's all about perseverance and not giving up... NOTE if you look into there eyes at the end of the video, you'll see there reflections, it's emotional
natural to get emotional because they are always 100% or more FULL POWER !!!
Great reaction guys, Starlight is a great tune and very djenty too
Yeah, this video was from 2016 and it won them a few awards :D
I'm glad you got the video unblocked!
Loved your reaction....as always.....genuine, honest and open.....thank you 😊
Thanks Mark, always appreciate your feedback 😊🤘
growing up watching anime and listening to metal music and JPop and Kpop - this is good blend
By far my favorite Babymetal song. I had the same reaction. 😍
🍅🍅🍅
🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼
This was the 1st song I heard by Babymetal !!!
everything is amazing and the band playing is awesome -great stuff
Karate chorus is one of my favourite Babymetal tunes. So good, and it does turn emotional towards the end.
You are not the only channel that has had Babymetal videos unblocked lately. It seems like Babymetal themselves are stepping in and helping reactors which is amazing and I hope this trend continues. Fantastic reaction btw :)
Awesome reaction, it would be perfect to check the Megitsune official MV next, see you 🤘🦊🤘
This brought tears to my eyes haha, its so amazing.
Beautiful reaction. It is a deeply emotional song. Look closely into the eyes of the girls in white at the end. This MV is a work of art.
I loved Karate from the first listening. It is so powerful and catchy 🤘🦊❤️🖤🦊🤘
Indeed. First time I heard them I remember feeling sooo divided between "this is so weird" and "this is so great". It was my first time listening to a japanese band. Today I'm listening a lot to Band-Maid also.
@@cgomes1607 both good choice 👍
These girls blow me away every time. Su’s voice is incredible. Great reaction as usual. Keep it up.
To react next, my Babymetal favorites would be the Megitsune video (nice lyrics) and "Catch me if you can" live.
Need to see Megitsune mv and Live version 🤘🦊🤘
I love your reactions. Babymetal reactions are no exception of course. Don't worry Sharlene, I get emotional too listening to that song. Greetings from Germany to your beautiful country, I miss being there!
its like my 100th time listening to this song and i still tear up every single time
truly a phenomenal band
Check out the studio version of Headbangerrr!!
Nice one.
Don't worry, lots of us who don't speak Japanese can get emotional with BABYMETAL.
If you would like another music video try Megitsune, if you would like another live try IDZ live at Sonisphere 2014.
BTW, IDZ is an anti-bullying song.
Love your reaction yeah I remember the first time I heard this song I was hooked I've heard a dozen times it gives me goosebumps every single time it
As has been mentioned a number of times below, it has a very powerful and positive message which is very much needed in these modern times. The idea of moving forwards, fighting your doubts , self confidence, self worth etc - not just individually but collectively. B
Babymetal and Nightwish both got me through some hard times during this covid crisis.
Thanks for all the recommendations, can't wait to check these out, sounds super rad 😊🤘
"Fight your inner demons." Basically, its the meaning of this video. Absolutely my favourite BabyMetal song
oh my kitsune sama!!!
You get the message of this song without knowing the lyric... your perspective about music must be high.. well done, you get my respect... for next song, i recommended "Uki Uki Midnight"...
PUT YOUR KITSUNE UP!! 🤘🤘
As always, the best reactions from Charlene! Cool channel. Thank you guys.
Haha it's our pleasure and glad you like it. 🤘🤘😊
You should see this song live in budokan!
Powerful song with Powerful Message 🤘🦊💖
This is their best song for sure, very powerful song and the video is so well produced.
Love the reaction
Plans (orders) in place for AKATSUKI CHURCH MIX be the soundtrack my final send off ..
when the time comes....one last "W.T.F" to all that doubt the power of the FoxHole !
road of resistance live in japan, headbanger legend 1997, Moabanger, Yuibanger, Megitsune MV, doki doki morning MV, ijime dame zettai live sonisphere UK, rondo of nightmare with mischief of gods intro, Akatsuki, the one (song for fans) BabyMetal fans called The One, iiNe MV, starlight tribute to Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka death and departure of YuiMetal from BabyMetal, Gimme chocolate live at the late show, black baby metal sis anger etc etc etc. Baby Metal Sakura Gakuin days, Su Metal Karen Girls when babymetal was not formed yet. yui and moa audition for Sakura Gakuin performing Karen Girls song Over the Future. Unhelpful Guide to BabyMetal must watch - BABYMETAL for life 🤘 youve just earned a sub
This song is so goooooooood !!!
Yeah their music is allot deeper and full of more thought than is apparent initially. It's also quite emotional at times, not unknown for reactors to have emotional responses to their music. Which is quite amazing when you consider it's usually non Japanese speaking reactors.
Su's ability to portray emotion is a big part 🤘🦊🤘
Think they're ready for The One yet?
@@glenkelley6799 or No Rain No Rainbow and Shine ( Legend M performance)🤘😭🤘
Every song in BABYMETAL is different.
You definitely must see "Road of Resistance (Live in Japan), or the last MV "BxMxC". But any song, especially live, will be fine.Even the oldest songs
Goosebumps in her voice.
I return to this reaction often. It's so great to see you two fully appreciate every aspect of this song and video.
Not covers they are BabyMetal songs which a lot of people are starting to cover lately 🤘🦊🤘
@@martinmetal7481 Sorry I meant live versions!
@@NQYsarge i make the same mistakes myself like i put" lot if"
Not " lot of" changed it now 🤘🤣🤘🦊
Hi from San Francisco California
Babymetal 🤘❤️🦊
I enjoyed your reaction! I watch a lot of reactions and some are, well, kinda fake and over the top but you guys really enjoyed watching it, so I enjoyed watching you enjoy watching it...um...yeah...LoL!!
Thanks for the reaction and as always...
Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
Thanks so much, that really does mean a lot. Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your reaction. subscribed. A really good folk metal song from a good band. Yaad-bloodywood. amazing band with great messages at end of videos.
Definitely a powerful song... I find that while listening/watching Babymetal you are either smiling broadly or getting slightly emotional. Thank you for the reaction. 🦊🤘🖤
this particular group I noticed has very good creative sing style talent.
I always get emotional listening to this... Its just an incredible song!
Great reaction guys 🇬🇧
I assume.
I think i'm a fan of Babymetal... Done...
Cheers from France 😉
Welcome to One if you not a fan watch more you will be 🤘🦊🤘
I was already. But with an another good reaction i made it public 😆
@@celtiquedebanlieue5896 🤘🦊🤘❤😁
I’m glad you guys enjoyed this ☺️
I've been into Babymetal for about a year now. This is the song that made me realise I didn't like them....I loved them.
Same here. Will always be my favorite song.
