- Well I'll buy my love a dress of red
Skipped all over with a golden thread
If she will marry, marry me
If she will marry me.
Oh you need not buy the dress of red
Skipped all over with a golden thread
For I won't marry you you you
I won't marry you.
Well I'll buy my love a paper an' pins
If that's the way that love begins,
If she will marry, marry me
If she will marry me.
Oh you need not buy the paper an' pins
If that's the way our love begins,
For I won't marry you you you
I won't marry you.
Well I'll give my love a dress of white
That we may live and never fight
If she will marry, marry me
If she would marry me.
Oh you need not give me a dress of white
That we may live and never fight
For I won't marry you you you
I won't marry you.
Well I'll give my love the key to my desk
That she can have money at her request,
If she will marry, marry me
If she will marry me.
Oh if you give me the key to your desk
That I can have money at my request,
Then I will marry you you you
I will marry you.
Well, I shan't give you the key to my desk
That you can have money at your request.
For I can't marry you you you
I can't marry you.
Well that's ok!
I stole this from a RUclips video "Mountain Talk" documentary • MOUNTAIN TALK (full do...
This is the Queen Family performing. It's Mary Jane Queen and probably Henry Queen.
It's here by fair use. I extracted verses of the song from the video, since there was no complete song there. Видеоклипы
Great music vibrations here! I don't remember all these cruel, mean versions! LOL 🤣 Seriously, though, we had VERY OLD books in music class and the old version had many, many lines to it, he keeps offering her everything, his house, his horses and land, from cross to cross. At the end, he pledges his hand and heart, that they may marry and never part, exactly what she was really waiting for him to say, and then she agrees and the song ends happily.
That'd be great to see a version with lots and lots of lines. Thanks for stopping by, it's my most watched video :)
This is from the video MOUNTAIN TALK , also here on RUclips. excellent video about Mountain people. my family all came from the mountains in Appalachia. I have been there many times. Wonderful life. They may have been poor, but they had a life all to their own. Its very Americanaa. Centuries ago, most Americans came from England and Scotland and Ireland. Over time more and more new Americans were born and they made the mountain talk what it is today. My family and me also have a strong accent...so we are told haha. you all should watch that video, really good. I think most of the video is in North Carolina. In the mountains of course.
dudes voice is great
Thanks for stopping by :)
This is my brother singing.

I love the clip of Popcorn Sutton driving in that old ford, what a fuckin legend
Thanks for stopping by! Good eye. Ya I love that stuff, Model A I'm guessing, but I don't know.
@@SunKing2 Yeah i believe it was a Model A, and by the way! Thanks for the upload SunKing! This is a beautiful cover of this song
Awesome, thanks for sharing, enjoyed, keep looking up!
Thanks bunches for stopping by! :)
Never heard of it before. I didn't expect to like it but I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed the song and the video too. Subscribed to your channel hoping to see more from you!
Thanks, George, I never heard of it before this week either, but I decided to learn it on acoustic. Thanks for the note :)
SunKing2 judging from your video, you learned it well! I don’t know how to play the guitar so what I upload on my channel are RUclips karaoke videos with me singing. Rather old stuff like Elvis, sometimes newer like Josh Turner.
@@georgekontos3100 thanks for your kind words. I'll be sure to check out your vids, and maybe even learn who Josh Turner is, and maybe even like it and wanna play it :)
If we have any skilled guitarist or banjoneers that knows how the chords and the structure strum this pattern ill give ya bottle of moonshine...thanks for the upload beautiful
The strum pattern essentially alternates from a C chord alternating hammering on to the 3rd fret of the low E string from the top of a G chord, then switched to a G chord, to an F, back to a G and finally resolving on the C/G pattern. Still figuring out some of the more intricate parts but that’s the basics…
If you got moonshine just feckin drink it and play along , you'll get it 👍
I freakin love yall
Thanks for the feedback!
I'll give to you the key to my heart, and you and I will never part...
And then she agrees to marry him.
That's how I remember it. I don't remember all these cruel, mean versions. We had VERY OLD books in school and the old version had many, many lines to it, he keeps offering her everything, his house, his horses and land, from cross to cross. At the end, he pledges his hand and heart, that they may never part, exactly what she was really waiting for him to say, and then she agrees and the song ends happily.
