there is a video you can search, it was obvious that Holyfield steps back, luring Mike forward then Holyfield steps forth and instead of boxing, he steps forth and uses the headbutt, very fast; he practiced this!
There are videos here on youtube exposing Evander’s headbutts disguised as false swings. He did it many times in Tyson’s first fight and throughout his career. Other fighters complained about Evander headbutting and Hasim Rahman got the worst of it.
Go look up the video where Lewis and mike talk about fighting holyfield. Holyfield had a heavy bag with a tire around the top of it to practice his headbutts...
Good analysis, I learned some things I didn't know before. Whilst I'm sure Holyfield was on the sauce, I'm skeptical of all 90s era guys to be honest, and doubly so for HWs. The physiques we saw were ridiculous compared to previous eras. And the testing was commission-only. They were under-funded and more importantly, their revenue was directly tied to how well the boxing business was doing, and suspending big names would limit their scope. It'd also probably result in a decrease in exciting fighters, too.
Tyson’s weight never fluctuated. He was 190 lbs at 13 years old and in the 220s since a teen. I don’t think he was taking anything, and if he was then it wasn’t even close to what Holyfield was taking who is naturally a skinny guy.

Holyfield would lean in with the head on the clinch. Tyson was not the only one that complained about Holyfield head butting and it happened in both fights that’s why Tyson was so pissed. As far as Holyfield juicing… umm hell yeah. The most obvious tell sign is the neck. Nobodies neck really balloons like that unless you using PED’s and you can see it with boxers… I’ll give you example, marques juices for 3rd fight when manny when he knocked him out cold… go look at how marques looked before and then on that fight. Canelo eventually started juicing…. Floyd didn’t allow that Bullshit so it was Olympic style testing so go look at canelo when he fought Floyd and then like now or a triple g or khan fight when he put him to sleep. It’s always that fucking neck. And wasn’t Holyfield nearly retired with a serious health issue so imagine the guy was out of boxing and was facing Tyson. Instead of looking like his old self he comes in looking like a body builder. Even I remember as a kid seeing Holyfield take off the robe and my mind was blown I got worried for mike right away but I remembered Bruno looked chiseled like that too.

I figured he just felt F it after the close fights and got desperate for the win at any costs (his own future health) also on Clenelo Alvaroid - OBVIOUS as well as the acne shots of his body and back. Floyd also was actually busted for the illegal IV thing that's used to cover roids .. best way to take focus on your own corruption is to point to the other guy (Manny) I think they were most likely BOTH on roids.
Holyfield was definitely on PED'S for both the Tyson fights and he headbutted Tyson in both fights as well. Tyson never had a snow ball's hope in hell of beating Holyfield. The boxing 'powers that be!' wanted him out of the sport!

Evander fouled several times and was never docked points. Tyson was winning the 3rd round and still lost his temper and bit both of Holyfields ears in retaliation for the nast cut that was around Tyson eye. Mills Lane disqualified Tyson. Too bad because Tyson was starting to make inroads and was starting to look like the Tyson of old and was beginning to push Holyfield back in the 3rd round.

I had to chuckle a little bit at the assertion that Tyson made no excuses for his loss to Douglas. Tyson and Don King, citing a “long count” when Tyson floored Douglas in the 8th, tried to have Douglas stripped of the title! They only backed down when the public response was so overwhelmingly derisive. It’s also a bit much to say that the cuts “sealed Tyson’s fate” in those fights. We’ve seen fighters from Bobby Chacon, James Toney, Rocky Marciano (there are countless examples throughout boxing history) grit their teeth and win fights where it looked like they were bleeding to death. Holyfield himself needed 36 stitches against Larry Holmes, and beat Ray Mercer and Michael Moorer while dealing with cuts at least as bad as Tyson’s. Tyson was just a psychologically fragile fighter who tended to come unglued in moments of adversity. Without intending to be rude, this video is an example of what I’ve seen noted on a lot of boxing forums I’ve been on since the 90s-Tyson fans tend to be just Tyson fans; they’re not really “boxing fans.” (Not knowing how to pronounce Bobby Czyz’s name, calling Holyfield a middleweight, etc).
Fair point. However, they gave that up pretty quickly. Tyson always maintained that Douglas fought a good fight, and that he wouldn't take anything away from him. The takeaway is that Tyson blames himself for that fight, not the ref, though King did raise that complaint, as you point out.
@@Revelation1316you don’t know a lot about boxing. Cuts can cause fights to be stopped but Tyson’s was not even particularly bad. We’d be here all day listing the fighters whose fate was not “sealed” by cuts around the eyes (many of which were much worse than Tyson’s here). The level of adversity that Tyson faced here should not have caused the complete mental breakdown that it did. He was always fragile.

I think Prime late 1980's Mike KO's un roided Evan Fields all the time. it's a shame that a boxer w such a warrior spirit as Evander Fields would ruin his cred by being such a obvious roid cheater, giving a illegal advantage. his poor performances that led him to look shot b4 the tyson fight.. were all between cycles, but for Tyson he re roided to the gills .. all WELL known in the body building under world I had friends in, all discussed in the gyms and you;ll never hear it on interviews w Lee Haney that are on youtube BTW .. they took pride in Lee Haney creating a roided up monster that actually DID a sport as opposed to a bunch of roided to the gills body builders posing. He also mastered the art of going for the shot to the balls when the ref was out of range of view .. now THAT is a ballsy skill! LOL ruclips.net/video/xiSXDzMc1TI/видео.html
I heard that the Tyson camp and Don King picked Mills Lane for the ref and that they tested Holyfield for steroids so there's that but thanks for not buying into the headbutting nonsense because there were no clear intentional headbutting!
At least according to Tyson, his camp did not want Mills Lane. But it's not like they get to choose the ref. And with that said, I cannot find any fault with how Lane officiated the fight.
Yes their was. It was masked. So was Hollyfield constant leaning. He was told to stop 8 or more times and didnt. This is compelling the headbut was deliberate.
@@Revelation1316 there was one intentional headbutt that was actually initiated by Tyson which was the one that the ref warned Holyfield about but there was no warning against either fighter moving forward with their heads down and is not an intentional headbutt. If you Tyson fan girls would look at the fight objectively you will see that Holyfield was the clear decisive winner of the fight and the only defense you can give Tyson is that he ( like he have done in other matches) underestimated Holyfield and didn't train as hard as he should have but even that is no excuse but would be more credible than the headbutting nonsense!
@@kelvinhooks9399Tyson fans are mainly just that: Tyson fans, not boxing fans. Yet the best refs in the world at the time, and every pundit and trainer watching the fight saw no problem. Mike could've adjusted to the style clash but couldn't. And this guy posting the video, this guy is obviously an absolute casual just from the way he says Czyz' name.
@@joeblough261the standing up to Tyson myth is BS as well.
MANY Heavyweights including big ones admitted they thought they would kill Tyson. They said they couldn't even hit him because his defense was so good but he could hit you from anywhere at anytime.
Tyson under cus and Rooney wasn't just undefeated he also threw and landed more punches per round than anyone.
He did 6 power shots per second and at least 3 for everyone thrown at him.
His speed and abilities were something never seen before or since says George foreman.
He said had Tyson kept fighting instead of spending his prime rusting in prison losing speed and reflexes he would have been the best ever.
Tyson GOT ON DRUGS.
COCAINE., heavy weed use and drinking while holyfield got on steroids.
WHO has the advantage...
Tyson fought 4 nobodies coming out of prison, get your head out of Mike's a.
HWs benefit more from Steriods. If Holyfield cheated with steriods then it means Mike Tyson never lost to Holyfield. The fights are a no contest. This means Mike Tyson is ranked higher than Holyfield

but tyson was likely on em as well ha. do you know iron mike paid hefty sum to not have a drug test in 1991?
@@williamwallace7651 Tyson was on rec drugs at the time like weed. so i doubt it means he took steroids. Plus his body never changed much his whole career whilst holyfield changed alot. Also i dont buy all sports people are taking it. this has never been proven. If it was true Balco would of never had cutting edge results like with Marion jones since EVERYONE is taking it including her competition. but marion blew away her competition. Holyfield appears to be a cheat. So Mike Tyson is ranked higher now.
@@williamwallace7651 mike had problems with taking weed at the time and maybe other party drugs. So you can't only assume drugs.
they are tested for steroids , I am bigger now and my head is bigger but I don't do steroids . Ones body produces natural steroids ,Ya just have to work out in the right way
It's pronounced mo-beele alamaba
Upper eye cuts dont seal a boxers fate? Bro you need to get a reality check in boxing. It is well known they do. Always has been
@@Revelation1316you don’t know a lot about boxing.
He was always fragile.
the count was 13 seconds
Holyfield isn’t a head butter but when heads do collide he ensures that he himself receives less damage! That’s not illegal
I prefer HONEST whatever it takes to win brawlers like Dempsey, Duran, etc. who are not a religious hypocrites like Holy field posing as a man of god , while having, what 20 illegitimate kids via adultery? I was close friends w person trainers, one my ex girlfriend .. who were friends w Lee Haney and Fred Hatfield AND they all know the level of HGH and other monster roids Evan Fields took to get that massive increase in back, shoulder etc muscle mass. un roided cruiser weight Evander would never have been able to push Mike T back like that, and Tyson was never the same after prison anyway, basically fighting for $$ only, as he admitted ..
However, in the years since, as people who actually saw that first fight live on 11/9/96 get older and don’t engage as much in online opinion-forming discourse, and Tyson gains new young fans through those RUclips knockout compilation videos, Tyson fanboys have done a very good job of putting a quasi-asterisk next to a fight that was clear and decisive on the night.
@@billdouglas8701 that makes a lot of sense and it's an argument that I never factored. If someone that didn't live through that Era just watched videos of how amazing Tyson was would definitely create a bias and if one didn't look into the history of that Era would explain the Tyson fan girls-dom! Thanks for sharing 👍
Tyson simply was not tough enough to beat Real Deal, and the sum total of head clashes were 50%, if not more, Mike's fault.
Holyfield beat his ass! Holyfield wasn't afraid of him!
Headbutting is illegal in boxing.
