I own 1zz in my 2000 Celica with 190.000km (i hope real). I check oil level at least once a week and after long high-rpm drive. For now it didn't lost a single drop of oil, I hope it stays that way. I've been doing regular oil changes every 8.000km
Do the Celicas not have the 2zz-GE (with the VVTIL)? Or did they make them with both engines. Anyroad, bravo on the non-oil burning. We've an Avensis, 150k with the 1.8 1zz-fe and it is consuming a ferocious amount of oil. Like, the oil consumption is a significant running cost annually. It is a problem.
@@thevanvirgin if I understood your question right. Both 1zz and 2zz have VVTI. In my experience, 2zz has more aggressive "kick-in" than 1zz. Most of that is because 2zz found in celica is performance engine, and 1zz has more economical predispositions. Vvti is not as aggressive as Vtec, but does the work 😀
@@filipkostic5166 Yah, as I understand it the 2zz-ge is the Spicy version of the 1zz, with a different vvti system to give it more oomph. But on your Celica, was it deffo a 1zz engine it had? Just trying to expand my (shallow) knowledge pool. Doing my internet learnings.
@@thevanvirgin 2zz is a completely different engine. Larger bore, smaller stroke, which enables 2zz to rev more than 8k rpm. Yamaha helped build 2zz head and they pulled out maximum possible power out of that engine. Both 1zz and 2zz clarify as 1.8, but they don't have the same cm³. 1zz has significantly larger stroke than bore, which enables him better torque at low rpm, thus making it really economical when you consider amount of fun it can make at upper rpms.
I have a 2004 Corolla Verso (european version) equipped with 1.8 1ZZ-FE with 170K Km( 100 K miles) and I have no problems at all with this engine , there is no need to add oil between oil changes (7 K Km); il runs smotly as ever.....

@@filipkostic5166 Class, thanks for the info! Would ya feel that lack of low end torque in the 2zz?
