Editor Nies's Notes: Hey everyone! It's been a second, I hope your doing well. I just wanted to say that starting next week Lani, Kaiser and myself will have a new weekly series coming out every Saturday on this channel. GTFS! Where Lani and Kaiser watch and give commentary on every episode of Dragon Ball GT! I already have a few episodes edited and ready to go and I can't wait to take you all on this Grand Tour!(Grand Tour!)
The person who posted the “You dodge attacks. You accept gifts” comment for that segment gave a gift so good even the creators took notice. Well played!
Funnily enough I thought it doesn't sound enough like one. It's hard to pronounce it like a slur. It seems offensive but soft. I'd have gone with something heavier sounding.
I always interpreted the vegeta goku dialogue as G: "Why succumb to Babidi, Vegeta?" V: "To give me a reason to fight you" G: "You don't need a reason to fight me"
Same. I totally get what happened after they explained it, but I'm glad my brain went how it did. G: I don't understand what this is all about. V: I did this because I live to fight you. G: You literally didn't have to do this. You don't need a reason to fight me. Just square up.
I like the idea that 18 actually thought of Maron’s name and wasn’t lying about it being her Grandmother’s name, Krillin then told her the whole story about his Ex, and then she basically said ‘let’s still name her that, it’ll be really funny’ and Krillin agreed and at some later point came up with the whole bit about 18 pretending not to know. Even if that’s not true, that bit is still one of my favorite jokes from the series. It’s like a perfect combo of wrong and wholesome.
I imagine it went something like this: "So, Lazuli, what did you want to name the baby?" "Well, my grandmother was like, the only person in my family besides my brother who was good to me, so I wanted to honour her." "Aww, that's sweet. Uh, what was her name?" "Maron." "So, I am of the opinion that as the woman carrying the baby, you the have exclusive right to pick her name...but there's something you should know before you settle on that one. You know that government agent who dated me to catch me on insurance fraud? Her name was Marron." "Oh." "And I mean, I don't don't care because I'm over her by now, but you know somebody (probably Yamcha) is going to say 'so are we going to talk about that?'" "Yeah, fuck them. I'll just tell them that I came up with the name and why I did it. And maybe break their arm."
@@Eneshi2071No lie, they’re one of the best couples, not just in DB, but in most of anime. None of this “will they won’t they” malarkey, they genuinely love each other
First form Frieza surprises the characters with his arrival, "Oh no, by all means... GIVE ME SOME IDEAS. >: ] ..." First form Cell surprises the characters with his arrival, "Hello, boys. Room for one more?"
@@omrin6834or Cell going "Enough" when Piccolo asked how many people, or when Cell went "You cannot fathom the amount of dead men behind me" towards Trunks, very ominous
The one thing you cannot deny is that these guys KNOW how to write one liners. Be it, "B!tch, I'm adorable" "I need/am an adult" "I AM THE HYPE!", "By all means... give me some Ideas.", or the classic "Put it on a shirt!" their one liners were some of the best I've seen in any show.
@@dragon1130 I'll be honest, I wish Piccolo vs 17 went something like: Piccolo: You're not dealing with the average Namek anymore. That's the only change I'd make to the whole series lol, just to drive on the super saiyan swagger Vegeta had in the Frieza saga.
@@longforgotten4823 It's not that deep. It's still a combination of the first and second phonetics of their names, they just swapped whose name was in front.
@@RosencrantzxGuildenstern that’s my read too, like maybe while that Gotenks was talking Piccolo, Nail, and Kami are discussing why they never got a portmanteau name lol
Nick and Scott: Sing Lawrence's praises at every opportunity. Also Nick and Scott: "We don't talk enough about how good Lawrence is." Both are correct.
Honestly, I've had ever-increasing appreciation of Masako/Lawrence's skills as a voice actor since I learned he voiced both Goku and Gohan and managed to make them sound distinct Also impressive how flawless his accent is
"Listen to me Kakarot, I'M USING HIS F---ING NAME!!!" Probably my favorite line in Buu Bits. I'll always remember how weird it was when Vegeta started to refer to the other characters by their proper name in the original series. He almost never interacted with anyone directly before, and if he did he acted like it was bad enough he had to lower himself to talking to them, he refused to do them the courtesy of acknowledging they had an identity. That line captures that attitude perfectly.
It's appropriate that it was Krillin, though. You know he probably never gave up trying to include Vegeta in everything even when everyone else was begging him to stop. Lol #TeamThreeStar
@@KentuckyKaiju I like to imagine they became really good friends (for Vegeta standards, atleast) because they can both relate to being completely overshadowed by Goku despite both being equally strong as him during at one point
I love how that bit was a call back to one of the TFS Gaming episodes where Lani and Grant did a much longer version of the Midlife Crisis Majin Vegeta rant. It was very funny, and it was nice to see that get made in a bit
@@neevko267It also feels like a nice continuation of that moment he has with Krillin after 18 beats him up. Krillin is the one person Vegeta feels like he doesn’t have to perform for, because nobody, least of all Vegeta himself of course, respects him even the slightest. It’s fitting that Vegeta would eventually start forming more of a camaraderie with Krillin (or whatever passes for one by his standards, anyway; the potato salad…).
Mine too. At least one of them because of course they're great at making Dragonball content. "You can just say 'I'M HIM!' because I'm about to bust up Buu!" "Trunkten, wait!"
The whiplash of that intro after being excited for Buu Bits to get its commentary is... Something I don't even know how to describe. I am definitely in the Denial stage of grief.
Subconscious denial of course it's possible, same for when a relative dies, you might be in denial for a short while after finding out @projectmessiah
It’s day three for me rn since first hearing of it and I’m… feeling better… but seeing Dragon Ball is still reminding me of Toriyama-sensei’s absence. Still, in time… eventually…
"You dodge attacks. You accept gifts." I genuinely dropped my monster and spit it out laughing, and now my nose hurts because it came out of there too. Great timing, lmao
As far as the Bad Man Returns bit goes, I take it as Goku wanting to know why Vegeta would let Babadi control him. And then after the monologue he's saying "You don't have to justify wanting to fight me". And all together it's "You didn't need to give Babadi control to fight me, you could have just fought me"
That makes sense but also the whole reason why Vegeta allowed himself to become "possessed" by Babidi was to get the immense powerup that comes with it. In other words, Vegeta wanted to fight Goku but also have a bigger number.
I saw it more as Vegeta having a whole reason to justify getting controlled and a power up, while Goku would've settled for "now I'm stronger and I want to fight you" Which also kinda shows he's fine with what he did in the arena cuz he gets a cool fight.... And they can just revive everyone with the dragon balls. Therapists must have a field day with all the trauma people have accrued over the years 😅
Goku would totally say "I hope Toriyama-Sensei got through check-in ok. I remember the long lines were agony! Good thing i was already dead though or i'd have died starving!"
"Its the only version of the Buu Saga we're *probably* ever going to do" Ahhhh the fool in me grasping onto that "probably" tighter than the pokemon on Nappa's back.
I was actively hoping that the commentaries would get their juices flying again and inspire them to come back and finish it out. We got Buu Bits. I am not mad at all, but I will always hold on to hope that a season 4 will come to fruition.
That little laughy "Oh no" Masako does when Vegeta goes Majin gladdens my heart every single time. 😂 Absolutely swesome performance. Also; "Trunkten, wait!" just killed me for some reason 🤣
I'm so glad yall covered this, the TFS Abridged Commentaries all through last year made my Saturdays worthwhile & even tho its sad news about the Legend himself passing, This was a nice thing to boost the spirits. These were all so well done, Katy crushed it as Videl and so did all the new VAs. What a fun series and Im excited to watch yalls GT rewatches
I love how Mark only wanted one scene but it ended up with Kaiser going “hold my beer” in response to Venture Bros and Metalocalypse going “we’re the most hyped finale/reunion special for a cancelled TV show in 2023” 😂
Ya know, I've never thought about it but there's a common style of humor and use of callbacks amongst all three of those shows. And I love all three of them.
@@AryesGungetcha Eh yeah said it at the time and it especially makes sense because [adult swim] had a very noticeable influence in both LittleKuriboh and TFS. Although I will grant that at least TFS ended the show on their own turns unlike those shows…especially Metalocalypse, dear god
@@SiRenfield Yeah Metalocalypse was tragic. VB had a satisfying enough ending. Which is another similarity to DBZA - where there's obviously more to the story, and I WANT more, but the ending was satisfying and has to end eventually.
@@AryesGungetcha Oh I actually meant more behind the scenes, like JFC we waited ten years for the finals to come out. I do like both endings albeit I do kind of think both have rushed elements, especially Army of Doomstar (like I still don’t know what’s going on with half of the lore stuff there)
"I am an adult." TLDR: DBZA Gohan helped me become a more actualized individual and how far I've come from bad past troubles Thank you so much for making these! I have a personal story I'd like to share. My favorite of these shorts has to be the one where Gohan punches the living hell out of Buu. Every time I see it, I replay it a thousand times. It actually makes me tear up. I grew up with DBZ Abridged, watching it since I was such a little kid back in 2009/2010. I was 11 or 12, something like that. And maybe in part because of that I have always felt attached to Gohan. I was a smart kid but I always felt alienated from others. Growing up was really difficult and by the time I was an older teen I felt really lost. Alongside this was untreated depression and bipolar. I remember when Episode 60 pt 2 cane out and Gohan transformed I was in tears. I had watched the show grow up and I had watched Gohan grow up (with the literal dialogue of the scene telling him to). It helped me realize that I couldn't always rely on someone else to come in and help me. Like Gohan I always needed an adult. Not everything was fixed back then. Things got better when I started taking meds which was (un)fortunately right before Covid. I had so much time to sit with myself and things started to get better. Eventually I went off to university, which was something I never thought I'd actually do, and things started to get much better. I still had some very dark times but I worked really hard with my therapist and struggled through. Eventually, this past fall, I had realized how far I have come as an individual. The Buu bits released at the perfect time right around when I was feeling this. In that clip I saw myself as Gohan; confident, strong, and fearless. Me 6 years ago would have never thought I could feel the way I do now. But now I can say "No. I am an adult."
Personally, I think doing the Buu Bits like this was genius. They weren't gonna do the full season, but this was perfect for RUclips Shorts and TikTok. All killer, no filler. RIP Toriyama.
* I know the timing is coincidental, but I think a lot of DB fans needed this after Toriyama's passing. * I love what you guys did with Sharpner. Much more likable. * I kinda want Lani and Masako to do a scream off now. * So glad you're covering GT in some way.
It's a hell of a coincidence if so. I wouldn't be surprised if they had it ready and were waiting on a specific release date, then when this news hit realized "we need to move the release up, this needs to be in his honor."
Agree with you on every point; thank you TFS for everything you’ve done, and everything you’re going to do. From DBZA to Hellsing to these commentaries and everything in between, you’ve given us all so much joy. I can’t thank you guys enough!
I have rewatched the commentaries many times. You guys are like, my best friends even though it's entirely one sided! Lol. You guys make me feel less alone! Thank you so much I love you all! ❤
Not to be a douche but in Japanese culture you would refer to him by just his first name, only if you knew him personally, the more respectful form would be first and last name or just Toriyama
"Sassy gay people exist. We-They have fun." It's okay Scott, you can call yourself sassy. Alt joke: This implies Scott is actively resisting the urge to go full sassy like the Ozaru.
Speaking of the Human Extinction Attack. That's *still* the most terrifying thing in the series for me. Cause yeah, we get stronger characters, crazier feats...but what sets that apart for me is it's not just raw power. It's *_extreme_* precision. Buu, at any point before Gotenks or Vegito showed up, could've just blown the earth up and been done with it- and there wasn't shit for dick anyone could do about it. Heck, he had an _excuse_ to do exactly that here, what with Piccolo offering him to kill off everyone else on earth so the Kakatot and his pants could rest before fighting him. No. He exterminates the entire species within seconds, and aside from a few relatively small holes in the ground from the blasts the planet's no worse for wear. There's just something about it- being able to cause a cataclysm like that singlehandedly WITHOUT scorching the earth -that just...rattles me.
There's malice to it. Blow up the earth, you cause big destruction, it's what bad guys do. But Buu...he wanted to murder people. He wanted to murder everyone. And nobody could do anything about it.
the absolute horror of realizing that he had his ki sense honed in on every single individual on the planet, so hard that he actively avoided injuring a specific individual (Mr. Satan) and pretty much aimed 7 billion blasts all at once down on the human race... my younger self was mortified at the thought and it's why i like super buu out of all the buus the most
It's also the most retarded shit the series has ever done with its villains. The character-driven threats are the best ones. Raditz wanted Goku to return to his home planet. Then Vegeta and Nappa wanted the dragon balls so Vegeta could become strong enough to kill Freeza. Freeza wanted to become immortal to rule the universe. The Cyborgs just wanted to have fun even though they were programmed to kill Goku. Cell is basically the same thing but he had an interesting plot that took a long time to tell and time travel which, yes, had plot holes nad made no sense, but the character drama (especially Future Trunks of course) is what makes Cell a good villain. The Buu saga villains are completely fucking pointless with no actual goals. Babidi wanted to resurrect Buu for... what.. exactly? Destroy the world? Why? Who the fuck cares? Then Buu just goes up and down on the random motivations shit, and the story is easily at its best when it's just fat Buu and Mr. Satan living with a dog. Yeah, the SLICE OF LIFE part of the Buu saga is where it's good as far as the "villain" is concerned, since by this point, it's pretty clear Buu isn't exactly evil-natured, he's literally a big baby. Then some random asshole shoots the dog. THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON BUU GOES HAYWIRE. Some stupid psychopath kills the dog for no reason. Then it escalates from there until Buu is completely unrecognizable as an established character. And then Piccolo has the clever idea to get him to go kill the whole world to buy themselves time so Goten and Trunks have a chance to finish their training in the hyperbolic chamber. Then Buu kills everyone below the sky sanctuary in 2 seconds. That's not terrifying. That's dumb. That's the bad guy equivalent of Goku ascending to another form. It's just another big number. It doesn't help that by this point in the story, Buu has zero character, he's just the big bad guy that's going to kill everyone and destroy the universe.. for.. no reason at all other than just "shut up he just does, isn't that terrifying?!"
As a fan I’m extremely happy yall did the Buu bits even if it didn’t mean the creative fulfillment (in terms of length and idea and what not) for yall I think it was gold. Personally was a highlight of the year last year. So thank you for the work everything you put into it.
Love how the status of the last line in the series went from "That feels... Anticlima..." to "Boob!" Which also (unintentionally I'd guess) build a bridge to episode 1..."Boobs! I mean Bulma..." 😂
Dude Sassy Gay Sharpner was the best thing to come out of these. I’m so glad you guys went with that angle. “Seriously, who put that doo rag on him?” Shreds me every single time
35:27 I always interpreted Goku's questioning and latter "You don't need to justify it" as "We could've just fought like normal, why go through mind control?".
Same, like goku asked cause he thought there mustve been a different reason, but upon hearing it was just for a fight he was just like "wait really? we could fight at any time, theres literally nothing id rather do more. Why didnt you just ask"
@@JubioHDXVegeta and Goku were bracketed to fight round 1 in the Tournament so their fight was a certainty and no risk that the whole "no Super Saiyan" rule would mean that one of them would lose to 18 or Piccolo (or Shin) early on. Then the tournament is abandoned and they waste more and more of Goku's precious one day in Babadi's spaceship waiting while Dabura took multiple episodes powering up. Vegeta was panicked that by the time Babadi was defeated Goku's time would be up and the fight they'd been promised by the bracket at the start of the day wouldn't happen. Btw I am REALLY skeptical Base Vegeta or Goku could've beaten Piccolo or 18 at the tournament. Let Super Saiyan in and sure but the "no Super Saiyan rule" might've fucked them.
RIP Toriama. he literally made my childhood a better place where i can escape the world and the bullies of my childhood. this one really hurts… rest easy you absolute king.
"You dodge attacks, you accept gifts." 😂😂 RIP Toriyama, you changed the world of how anime and manga are seen. May you enjoy Heaven among the Kai's and teach that Dinosaur how to ride a ball.
For the record, "Oh no, the voices are back..." might be my single favorite line read in the entire series. Also, the day this episode was released, a group of friends and I finished marathoning all of Abridged. This included a friend who never really got into DB, but every single episode had him rolling on the floor, and by the end he said he fully understood why DB means so much to people. I just thought I would share that so you guys knew what a fantastic job you all did. Thanks for your hard work, and of course a tearful "thank you" to Toriyama-sensei for everything he did.
considering the Buu saga Abridged might not work at all when produced like the rest, due to the many reasons mentioned previously, this is the perfect sendoff to dbza. It's kinda like an epilog montage to lay the series to rest properly. love your guys' work, and RIP Toriama. Such a Legend.
1:09:11 I've always felt that Brian Drummond's take on the fusion voice is SUPER overlooked. It really shows his versatility as an actor. He does a Goku-style voice, but with the confidence and edge of Vegeta. As much as I LOVE Kirby Morrow's Goku, Brian absolutely stole that entire section of the buu saga with that performance.
First time seeing the actual dude in person, but i gotta say the vibe was off during this commentary between the two for some reason. seemed like he was trying to dominate and control the conversation the entire time
@@defaultname7685you say it's the "first time seeing [Lani] in person", but there are comments from you dated several months ago on other DBZA commentary vids. Care to explain, or are you just trying to start crap?
You were meant to voice Vegeta. I can never accept any other voice actor as Vegeta anymore. You guys brought a lot of joy to my life. I thank you guys so much for taking on the project and making it into the wonderful work of art that it became. The official release has a special place in my heart, but DBZA is just icing on the cake for me. I can also never forget one of the spinoffs that coined the phrase "I am the Prince of all Bread!" Thank you!
Vegeta's pride kept him alive when he had NOTHING. But he got things better than pride to guide him. Things worth following. Things better than the only thing he'd had left for so long. He never noticed when it stopped holding him UP and started holding him BACK And when he finally did, he was finally able to grow past that wounded, prideful child.
"And that's it Abridged Creator Commentary is over!!!" "Wait what's this?! Abridged Creator Commentary is back and WITH A STEEL CHAIR?!?!?!" Also rest easy Toriyama. Thank you for giving me and so many other a massive part of their childhood and adulthood memories.
I always like to think Goku was talking to just Vegeta and no one else and when no one believed him he went off on either interns or a random group of people and the police showed up.
It was beyond refreshing to have you guys back. Buu bits took me by surprise with anticipation for more. Does not surprise me everyone came back for voices. The amount of work you two put in and the community you built I think would attract anyone to come back. Thank you for creating the series. Thank you, Toriyama for the source material.
YES YES YES PLEASE DO BEHIND THE SCENES ON DRAGON SHORTZ!!! I love hearing your guys tidbits about what went on behind the scenes, especially when it's parts of DBZA that you guys are so clearly in love with. Please give us more!
When DBZA was canceled, I completely understood and accepted why. Though, deep down in my heart of hearts, I was hoping they would make stuff around the biggest moments of Buu. So, imagine my state of mind when I first saw the Buu Bits. So thank you, Team Four Star. Words cannot properly articulate how grateful I am that you did this.
13:08 Kaiser: I know people will talk about like stereotypes and whatnot, but sassy gay people exist. We-w-they exist, they have fun. Editor Nies's Notes: Hey Hahahahaha loved it xD
As someone not LGBTQ+ himself, I'm guessing it's kinda like the Speedy Gonzalez situation. Technically a stereotype, but isn't actually belittling the entire group it's a stereotype for, and people from said group mostly enjoy it.
1:06:30 I was hoping they would talk more about that scene because they made Buu's absorption really scary. The idea that his victims can see and feel everything Buu does like they're tied into his nervous system is just horrifying
same, it's super freaky and i love it. also it would kinda make fighting buu a lot harder, at least mentally. like you can't punch him without everyone he's absorbed feeling it, including your loved ones
Lani makes a good point about the "best buddy" line at 48:27 I always saw it as, when Goku said they were buddies back in Namek, Vegeta secretly felt that Goku genuinely was the closest thing he had to a friend, but he just never wanted admit it. So when Vegeta sacrificed himself to Buu, he had nothing more to lose, so he might as well admit in his heart that they are in fact best buddies. But, Lani ain't wrong. That probably would have made more sense during the Kid Buu fight.
On the other hand it's clear during their fight just how much Goku means to Vegeta ("*God* I missed you...") so Vegeta might have just come to that understanding earlier here.
Thank you guys so much for the creator commentaries I broke my leg a while ago while you guys were on the latter part of season 3 watching and laughing you guys helped take my mind off my poor circumstance. From the bottom of my heart thank you for being there for me wether you knew it or not.
I always loved how you guys subtly referenced the "did Buu get weaker when he reverted to Kid Buu" debate when Goku asked if he's still stronger than them. I swear that has to be one of the most debates topics in anime history lol
I feel like Buu Bits was the best combination of both worlds. You got to do the jokes you wanted to do and hit the highlights without having to do 40 more episodes when you were already burnt out.
My favorite part of the "going even further beyond" line is that it's the same as the original, no joke, no changes, because you can't improve perfection. plus, you just KNOW Masako was dying to say that line
A couple of things: Thank you so much for doing the Buu bits! They were amazing!!!! I especially loved Vegeta v Goku and the strong guy drop and Vegeta’s sacrifice was a 10/10 absolute perfection. I agree about the character arc stuff, but it turned out so well I don’t mind. The only deleted scene I absolutely loved was the Daddy shark bit bc that is exactly how it would go. Like father like son and it’s so perfect for Goten and Goku! Thank you so much for including these in the commentary! And to give us get reaction videos too! You spoil us! I love Kaiser’s evil laughter when talking about it 😂. Hang in there Lani!
23:11 There was also that comment on one of the DBZA episodes from YEARS ago where the guy specifically wanted to see the scene with Gohan and Videl wrapping around his face, and boy did you guys deliver.
I'm so thankful to you guys for even doing the Buu Bits in the first place. It was more than I honestly ever hoped for. I was fully content with the fact that we would never see the Buu saga abridged, so these were a pleasant suprise. Thank you all for giving us this glimpse into what a DBZA season 4 might have looked like. It means so much as someone who has been watching since the start when I was only 7. Hats off to all of TFS and everyone else involved. You guys really knocked it out of the park with these.
This was the peek into an alternate universe we needed. It gave me so much happiness to have more of more TFS goodness. HFIL is amazing but the Buu Bits felt like a return to the Namak series, in terms of a mix of comedy and scary.
I recently binged the HFIL series and I gotta say, I dunno why I was sleeping so long on it. More Ginyu Force, more Raditz, more Frieza family shenanigans, finally getting a Bojack character, and of course... more PERFECT CELL. Oh my little heart goes out to these guys, and of course the late great Toriyama-sama who made this all possible.
47:00 Out of all the vegeta sacrifices dub's, Lani's is the one that makes me shed a tear almost everytime because its so, goddamn beautiful how much passion was in it, it made me, a grown ass man, cry like I did as a little kid seeing vegetas sacrifice for the first time
20:31 She actually is. In the manga, Videl says this; "Not at all; dad’s been getting a little too cocky for his own good! Even if you take into account that he doesn’t have mom around anymore ever since she died, he’s been using the fact that he’s champion to fool around with tons of women! I would actually say it would be better for him to lose for once…!"
I only ever watched Dragonball as a kid; and that story had a massive impact on me learning art, my sense of humor, and who I was growing up. I would never be the person I was if it wasn’t for Dragonball. But I never got into DBZ until recently; literally only a couple of months ago. And it wasn’t until I watched the amazing work YOU GUYS did! Your art was what exposed me to the wider world of Toriyama, you guys exposed me to how amazing Dragonball is! And it was you guys who took that bottomless passion for his world and his characters and infected me with it; and doubtless I am not not alone in this sentiment. I’m currently rewatching Kai in his honor, but I want you, and everyone on TFS know that you touched my life in the l same way he did; and that your creative passion represents everything Toriyama meant to us: pure inspiration that drives us to make a mark on others; as they in turn do the same. Take it easy.
People tend to judge dragon ball as nothing but flashy powers and screams because toei filled so much time screaming and powering up, when in the manga is literally one or two panels. This leads everyone to think dragon ball is dumb and childish, but it has so much deeper meaning than just mindless screaming and hair color change. Dragon ball can be appreciated beyond the fights (wich still is the main selling point and visual attractive thay draws everyone and keeps us all to watch the series from beginning to end).
Some comments on specifics: Gohan Bulma and Vegeta talking and hearing new dialog from you in those voices put the biggest fucking smile on my face when watching Mark's retrospective videos. Masako's SS3 scream and voice are absolutely perfect. Dude went all in and more and it paid off. Hope he had some honey and tea after the session. Bobbity, Dabura, and Buu voices were *chefs kiss* "Listen to me Kakarot IM USING HIS FUCKING NAME!" As Kaiser says: A+ No notes. Vegeta's atonement: Fantastic. Funny. "Buu has played this game" made my skin crawl in the best way. Buu's scream is great. And Lani? Shut the fuck up your scream gives me fucking chills every time you nailed it you beautiful bastard stop second guessing yourself. As a final note, I'm beyond happy Mark approached you for this. You guys hit every major point I wanted from DBZA Buu and this fan at least is satisfied. Great job to everyone involved in these bits and I cant wait to suffer alongside Lani for GT.
Thanks for doing this. toriyama's death a hard hitter, but bigger to me, my grandmother passed away as well yesterday, seeing your commentaries always brightens my day and this helps keep a smile on my face.
Thank you guys for paying tribute to Akira Toriyama. It’ll take God knows how long to get over his passing, but it’s nice to know that he’ll live on in the people who loved and admired him. You guys’s parodies and their humor involving his series is a lot more comforting than you think, so it’s very fun to watch.
35:27 Personally, I find it fits. remember, this Goku overheard Vegeta saying "why would I join the tournament? Im already rich and have *nothing to prove*. Vegeta displayed ZERO desire to fight so Goku probably thought that Vegeta was completely past this stage in his life but now he reveals that he did this because he actually wanted to fight SPECIFICALLY HIM. Goku is basically saying "Oh i didn't know you still had that dawg in you. Coulda just said you wanted the smoke, you don't gotta talk about your midlife crisis"
23:00 Is my favorite bit and I assume it's the most popular because not only is it completely hilarious, her delivery there is absolutely PERFECT. It's an incredible mix of so very cute, innocently sweet, and devilishly flirty (yes that pun was on purpose), my heart skipped a beat and it had me blushing HARD.
About the "closure" debate. I dan't talk for you as the creators, but as a fan of the series, this does give some semblance of closure. I've always wished you guys to tackle buu cus I was looking forward to find out in what direction you'd take the silliest dbz arc and we got that. Sure it's maybe more of a tease than a fullfilling series but I won't have to wonder anymore *how* you'd do the buu arc, I got that and I feel fullfilled!
Hey Lani I just wanted to say marvelous job on every piece of work that you've done and Vegeta's sacrifice is one of the scenes that I always remember greatly from watching dragon Ball z for my first time ever when I was younger and I got to say in a way your version of it made me cry harder. Yes, even for you. Best buddy when he finally acknowledges kakarot has his best friend right before he blows himself to dust. Had me laughing and crying tears as sad and I said the same time all the way through the rest of these buu bits
I commented on a prior video, either the Buu Bits compilation or the individual video, "Vegeta yes" needs to cap off all of your vocal reels. Just absolutely phenomenal.
Ugh, I've been needing this community. Thanks for posting. Not sure if this was the intended schedule. But thanks and I know you guys have been impacted as well. Sending yall love.
Vegetas sacrifice had me bawling my eyes out as a kid. THEN YOU MOTHERFUCKERS HAVE ME CRY AGAIN!!!! 😢 In all seriousness you guys definitely captured that feeling I had years ago. Thank you tfs ^_^ and Lani you ARE VEGETA
First of all: Lani you look like a Million bucks! Secondly: I think I needed this after the very sad news yesterday. And lastly: thank you guys. That Vegeta Final Atonement was perfect and everything I hoped for. Much love from a Fan since the Namek Arc began!
For the Vegeta line I think even replacing "best buddy" with "Goku" would have been a great choice. Show that even though he's warmed up to Goku to the point of respect to actually use his preferred name for the first time it's not like he's on the same level of friendship with Goku as Goku is him.
I think vegeta calling him kakarot is the respect. He embodies everything that makes saiyans great and vegeta recognizes that so he’d never stop calling him by his saiyan name
@@tolkienblack i agree with this, especially with the fact that even goku in the actual series tells broly to call him kakarot instead after the fight. But in the context of vegeta's sacrifice i think it makes sense for him to just call him goku in that moment, and like lani said only later on embrace the best buddy title
I just realized they could have done a scene about Buu absorbing Piccolo and the interaction with Nail and Kami. that could have been hilarious: Buu: "Now I'm smart as Piccolo" Nail: "No you're not" Buu: "Who said that" * looking around * Kami: "I think he's a new one, hi Buu" Piccolo: "So this is how it feels to be you two" Nail: "Yup" Buu: "GET OUT OF MY F*CKING HEAD!"

“WHATS THAT SMELL” IS THE BEST PAYOFF TO ANY LONG RUNNING TFS GAG AND IM NOT KIDDING
"Is that... pork?"
“What’s that smell” rocks me with fit of laughter not quite like anything else can, I’m so glad others love it too
Idk the team three star arc, vegeta and krillen best buddy payoff was gold
"What smells like deer?"
To this day, "What smells like deer" is my favorite line.
I always interpreted the vegeta goku dialogue as
G: "Why succumb to Babidi, Vegeta?"
V: "To give me a reason to fight you"
G: "You don't need a reason to fight me"
My headcanon is that THIS is what snapped Vegeta out of his funk and back to the side of good
V: " well technically carrot, you never beat me 1v1"
Well said and explained
Goku: "I told you I'd fight you. I just kinda died. My bad."
The fact that they both think it's hilarious just highlights how perfect they are for each other, and I love that.
I imagine it went something like this:
"So, Lazuli, what did you want to name the baby?"
"Well, my grandmother was like, the only person in my family besides my brother who was good to me, so I wanted to honour her."
"Aww, that's sweet. Uh, what was her name?"
"Maron."
"So, I am of the opinion that as the woman carrying the baby, you the have exclusive right to pick her name...but there's something you should know before you settle on that one. You know that government agent who dated me to catch me on insurance fraud? Her name was Marron."
"Oh."
"And I mean, I don't don't care because I'm over her by now, but you know somebody (probably Yamcha) is going to say 'so are we going to talk about that?'"
"Yeah, fuck them. I'll just tell them that I came up with the name and why I did it. And maybe break their arm."
That would be pretty frickin cute.
It also shows growth in Krillin…whose entire thing with Maron could have been avoided through honesty.

@@dragon1130 I'll be honest, I wish Piccolo vs 17 went something like:

When first form frieza pulled up back then my mind was like “Hi bakura!” Cuz littlekuriboh as frieza was absolutely amazing and terrifying XD

"Listen to me Kakarot, I'M USING HIS F---ING NAME!!!" Probably my favorite line in Buu Bits.

I like to imagine they became really good friends (for Vegeta standards, atleast) because they can both relate to being completely overshadowed by Goku despite both being equally strong as him during at one point

As far as the Bad Man Returns bit goes, I take it as Goku wanting to know why Vegeta would let Babadi control him. And then after the monologue he's saying "You don't have to justify wanting to fight me". And all together it's "You didn't need to give Babadi control to fight me, you could have just fought me"
totally.... "you could've just asked" energy
That makes sense but also the whole reason why Vegeta allowed himself to become "possessed" by Babidi was to get the immense powerup that comes with it.
In other words, Vegeta wanted to fight Goku but also have a bigger number.
I saw it more as Vegeta having a whole reason to justify getting controlled and a power up, while Goku would've settled for "now I'm stronger and I want to fight you"
Which also kinda shows he's fine with what he did in the arena cuz he gets a cool fight.... And they can just revive everyone with the dragon balls.

"I am an adult." TLDR: DBZA Gohan helped me become a more actualized individual and how far I've come from bad past troubles
Thank you so much for making these!

The phrase “Krakatot and his pants” killed me
the absolute horror of realizing that he had his ki sense honed in on every single individual on the planet, so hard that he actively avoided injuring a specific individual (Mr.
@@LightBringer666The Population on earth in Dragonball is never been stated.

Dollytaki...
Gods, why?
@@defaultname7685you say it's the "first time seeing [Lani] in person", but there are comments from you dated several months ago on other DBZA commentary vids. Care to explain, or are you just trying to start crap?
@@ShermTank7272most likely trying to start shit.
He never noticed when it stopped holding him UP and started holding him BACK
And when he finally did, he was finally able to grow past that wounded, prideful child.
Things like Spite and Pride are like lighter fluid. Great to get you started, but not a great long term fuel.
"And that's it Abridged Creator Commentary is over!!!"
"Wait what's this?! Abridged Creator Commentary is back and WITH A STEEL CHAIR?!?!?!"
Also rest easy Toriyama. Thank you for giving me and so many other a massive part of their childhood and adulthood memories.
Vegeta mentioning a court ordered psychiatrist makes me question what he did in the time skip.
I always like to think Goku was talking to just Vegeta and no one else and when no one believed him he went off on either interns or a random group of people and the police showed up.
He lived with Bulma, that's all
Therapy obv
Vegeta having a Tony Soprano arc
Probably abused the employees at Capsule Corp.
Especially if they can get DevilArtemis to take part in the discussion.
Editor Nies's Notes: Hey
Hahahahaha loved it xD
As someone not LGBTQ+ himself, I'm guessing it's kinda like the Speedy Gonzalez situation. Technically a stereotype, but isn't actually belittling the entire group it's a stereotype for, and people from said group mostly enjoy it.
@@LonesomeDevilas both a sassy gay (lesbian) and A mexican
I can confirm, yes to both
1:06:30 I was hoping they would talk more about that scene because they made Buu's absorption really scary.
The idea that his victims can see and feel everything Buu does like they're tied into his nervous system is just horrifying
It also tracks with those pods we see them in inside Buu
same, it's super freaky and i love it. also it would kinda make fighting buu a lot harder, at least mentally. like you can't punch him without everyone he's absorbed feeling it, including your loved ones
Lani makes a good point about the "best buddy" line at 48:27
I always saw it as, when Goku said they were buddies back in Namek, Vegeta secretly felt that Goku genuinely was the closest thing he had to a friend, but he just never wanted admit it.
I will never get tired of hearing Lani's "vegeta yes" scream, he is so damn good.
Also Trunks whats that smell is a great call back
You'll be forever missed, but never forgotten. Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama.
Thank you guys so much for the creator commentaries I broke my leg a while ago while you guys were on the latter part of season 3 watching and laughing you guys helped take my mind off my poor circumstance. From the bottom of my heart thank you for being there for me wether you knew it or not.
I was starting to think you guys were never gonna cover the Buu Bits. I've never been more glad to be wrong
The look of horror on Goku’s face when Vegeta mentions PTA meetings always gets me. Like even Goku knows those are horrible and boring.
1:13:04 Love the PERFECT synchronization of Lani and Vegeta's head turns!
Plus ultra?
I will NEVER stop loving the fact that Vegeta considers using Krillin's actual name as THE sign of how far he has fallen
The only reason he hasn't self destructed was the fact that he had yet to use Yamcha's name.
A couple of things:
Thank you so much for doing the Buu bits!
It’s here, this is cathartic for me you know?
RIP TORIYAMA-SENSEI!!! Thank you for making Dragon Ball,
Thank you for making my childhood!
47:00
Out of all the vegeta sacrifices dub's, Lani's is the one that makes me shed a tear almost everytime because its so, goddamn beautiful how much passion was in it, it made me, a grown ass man, cry like I did as a little kid seeing vegetas sacrifice for the first time
47:06 - "VEGETA YES!" - _Chills,_ my friends. _Every_ time.
53:24 - "EVEN FURTHER BEYOND!" - Same thing. _Chills._
There is something in his voice when he says "even further beyond" like his voice literally went Super Saiyan
Masako just gets better with the screams and he was always fn good to start with. Insane that he matched Lanis tempo for the fusion after the fact...
20:31 She actually is. In the manga, Videl says this;
"Not at all; dad’s been getting a little too cocky for his own good!
We will always remember you RIP Akira toriyama you were a true legend
Some comments on specifics:
Gohan Bulma and Vegeta talking and hearing new dialog from you in those voices put the biggest fucking smile on my face when watching Mark's retrospective videos.
Masako's SS3 scream and voice are absolutely perfect. Dude went all in and more and it paid off. Hope he had some honey and tea after the session.
Bobbity, Dabura, and Buu voices were *chefs kiss*
"Listen to me Kakarot IM USING HIS FUCKING NAME!" As Kaiser says: A+ No notes.
“Even though Chi-Chi doesn’t make sense, because he steps on the egg”
It WORKS, because Gohan wasn’t around to see that.
Thanks for doing this. toriyama's death a hard hitter, but bigger to me, my grandmother passed away as well yesterday, seeing your commentaries always brightens my day and this helps keep a smile on my face.
Condolences, man. My grandma passed away too, but six months before Toriyama-sensei. She was 69, just one year older.
Lani, your screams for Vegeta's sacrifice are absolutely perfect. Everytime I hear them they give me goosebumps. Well done!
I abosolutely love the implication that Vegeta taught Trunks to sense energy via smell. Thank you TFS for everything.
23:31 - "Take what you can, give nothing back." - Pirates of the Caribbean
I commented on a prior video, either the Buu Bits compilation or the individual video, "Vegeta yes" needs to cap off all of your vocal reels. Just absolutely phenomenal.
Ugh, I've been needing this community. Thanks for posting. Not sure if this was the intended schedule. But thanks and I know you guys have been impacted as well. Sending yall love.
Vegetas sacrifice had me bawling my eyes out as a kid.
THEN YOU MOTHERFUCKERS HAVE ME CRY AGAIN!!!! 😢
In all seriousness you guys definitely captured that feeling I had years ago.
Sharpner was the best change you ever made to a character in dbza
Goddamn right.
Tied with Recoome
@@GreenlandRobot of course, cause the only thing he sells is merchandise, brother
I just realized they could have done a scene about Buu absorbing Piccolo and the interaction with Nail and Kami.
that could have been hilarious:
Buu: "Now I'm smart as Piccolo"
Nail: "No you're not"
Buu: "Who said that" * looking around *
Kami: "I think he's a new one, hi Buu"
Piccolo: "So this is how it feels to be you two"
Nail: "Yup"
Buu: "GET OUT OF MY F*CKING HEAD!"
Toriyama would be so happy to see how you guys handled his series. Stand proud, you guys.
Sadly Japan doesn't appreciate abridged things, it's like you took my creation and stole it over their.
yeah, alot of those funimation people really hated this and even the voice of goku had issue with it at first
@@joindarkseid5024 yeah, cause what's his fuck is an absolute asshole. Quite a few people grew up hearing his voice, & he gets it into his head that HE is the character just because he keeps being paid to do it.
Motherfucker, this character is almost older than YOU are, & there was an entire series that you were never a part of, the ego on that dickwad is enough to impress VEGETA.
It's actually deeply ironic how different the character to the voice is with Vegeta & Goku. Vegeta is a stuck up prick with an incredibly awesome dude voicing him, & Goku is an incredibly awesome dude with a stuck up prick voicing him.
@@joindarkseid5024 as much as I hate to give Funi credit.... only Sean Schemmel really had a beef with TFS. Most of the Funi crew like Kaiser and crew.
@@TheMysticRabbit0wnzuMore Toei. Apparently Toriyama loved Dragon Ball fan projects.
The scene with Krillin and 18 was just *chef's kiss* You answer the Marron question, but in the process show just how perfect the two of them are for each other. Nothing shows the bond of true love quite like team trolling your friends.
Shut up Lanny I'm at work watching this and your Vegeta sacrifice still almost made me cry
You guys genuinely inspired me to do voice impressions since i was 11 years old. Probably some of thee best voice actors ive seen in my life
