I heard Adrian Cronauer speak when I was in college. The first thing he said was that he wasn't half as funny as Robin Williams. He was pretty comical, though.
Robin was absolutely BRILLIANT in this film … and it’s no surprise that he got nominated for the BSA Oscar for this role, because his range of acting was absolutely off the charts!👌👏 For instance: Here, we see him being his usual outrageous, over-the-top self! 😂 But then, that scene where he’s talking to those soldiers in the truck and making them all laugh before they headed out to war showed just how versatile he was, as that wildly happy expression on his face slowly transformed into the image of one deeply saddened individual, knowing that as soon as those soldiers said their goodbyes to him, the vast majority of them would never come back home alive! 🥺 And then towards the end, where he displays such intense rage & a sense of betrayal after learning who was responsible for that restaurant bombing… 🫢 WOW, he was truly a once-in-a-lifetime talent! 🫡
I first saw this film as a young USAF Security Policeman, attending Air Base Ground Defense School at Ft. Dix NJ, in January of 1988. After ABGD, my first duty assignment was to the 3rd SPS, 3rd SPG, Clark AB, Philippines, so I got a real good taste of the Vietnamese climate.
The true legend of comedy. No one was ever better. I love a lot of them out there in the 80s and 70s, but he tops them. All Robin Williams will be missed for eternity. God bless you never forgotten. Don't post your s*** forever.😊
GOOOOOOOD MORNING VIETNAAAAAM!!!! Hey, this is not a test. This is rock & roll. Time to rock it from the Delta the DMZ. Is it me or does that sound like an Elvis Presely movie. Viva daneng.
