Who said Owen and Fowler couldn't play together? Linked up really well in this match. The skill, nutmeg and pass for the Owen chance in the 1st half. Owen had loads of pace and very direct. Fowler was more an artist, 26 England caps nowhere near enough! Best player in the match. Gerrard was excellent, superb alround game, passing, tackling, crossing and shooting. What a player. Thought the Beckham freekick was better in this game than the one at Old Trafford. Wrong side for a right footer, but superbly struck inside the post. Amazing work rate.
It's only when you listen to the commentary of these legends, that you realise how far we have fallen when it comes to quality nowadays. Literally any muppet can co-commentate now, it's excruciating. The other thing is the woefully incompetent linesmen here, make me glad we now have VAR for offside calls.
I used to think it must have been easier to score in the past since there was no VAR, but after watching old matches, I realized that many clear goals were disallowed for offside. So, football in the past was as competitive compared to today's game
This game was a few months before Otto took over the Greek team and threw out the useless Greek politics and slowly geld the team for the epic 2004 Euro cup run. The team at this point was very inconsistent. How about that Micheal Owen speed, wow! I think the only Greek defenders at that time that had a remote chance to keep up with him were not in the match (Venetidis and Seitaridis)> Also, Danil in my opinion was very a coach. Some real bad off side calls too!

Hey Bobby !Im a Magpie Fan,don't U know where I can find Newcastle v Manchester September 2001 Shearer-Keane confrontation?
Notice a 15 minutes gap from the start of the program to the start of the match, which the commercial ones sadly fail to do.
Beckham was literally the main man in 2001!
That was the 2nd best Beckham free kick against Greece. ;)

The decison at 52:20 was absolutely horrendous. Stopped a clear goal.
