To be honest I really didn’t like Luton at the time which was less to do with your famous League Cup victory, as painful as it was to me, but a combination of your plastic pitch, the ban at Kenilworth Road of away supporters (which I suppose was more to do with your Chairman David Evans) and David Pleat ending up as Manager at Spurs ! Actually I’ve forgiven him for that a long time ago ! I sat opposite a Luton fan on the train from Kettering to see the 5th round of fhe FA Cup at Kenilworth Road in 1986 and we had a pleasant conversation. The game finished 2-2 and Arsenal lost 3-0 in the second replay back at Kenilworth Road. I see that Luton went on to lead 2-0 against a very good Everton team in the quarter final only to lose 1- 0 in the replay at Goodison Park. I don’t need to tell you that Luton had a good team back then. I knew that Luton lost in the 1989 League Cup final but until watching this video I’d forgotten who the victors were that day. And the game was live on TV as well so everybody got to see it and cheer on "little Luton". Sadly the importance of the cups has taken a nosedive since the invention of the Premier league but as you say at last we got a taste of it last season. Another incredible Luton Arsenal game as well at the Kenny. We scored 3 again but not enough to win on this occasion. I'm not surprised we're not doing well this season, losing Barkley was crucial. I didn't realise what a genius he was until he came to us. Lakonga was terrific also, thanks for the loan. I was at the Everton game in '86, so gutted to not beat them as they'd broken my poor young heart in the fa cup semi final in '85. We finally knocked them out of the cup last season with a last minute winner at Goodison. Redemption at last! Oh, and Forest? They've just knocked us out of the cup again. They're really beginning to get on my nerves. Good luck for the rest of the season.
