Always grates me with the prefix ‘Madam’. It’s simply ‘Prime Minister’. With the King and the Queen you begin with ‘Your Majesty’, and subsequently ‘Sir and mam’. I’m pretty certain a President would know this. Now for my positives. I loved all of Lord John in the show, and Roger Rees was equally superb in ‘Cheers’. The running gag with ‘Gerald’, and “We’ve met on several occasions” always makes me chuckle.
It's from a B plotline that's a little difficult to sum up concisely, but I'll give it a shot: one of the White House assistants finds herself kept out of the First Lady's birthday party at the last minute when it turns out that her birthplace along the US side of the border is now suddenly on the Canadian side. While waiting for this to be resolved, Donna ends up being included in a group of women hanging out with the First Lady as she works through a deeply disappointing event, and after Donna shocks herself by accidentally speaking a hard truth to the First Lady a little bluntly, the First Lady expresses her appreciation by getting the band to play "O Canada" in her honor. 😁
My toxic West Wing opinion is that LJM is gross and insufferable. Blustering and lecherous aristocrat laying on the posh accent and quoting Classics to sanitise his egotism and chauvinism.
"Gerald!" will never not be funny.
The late, great Roger Rees (who was actually Welsh!) creating an unforgettable character.
His Lordship, John Marbury is a great character acted beautifully.
Awful character if you happen to be British!!
It's actually, "Right Honorable" because his highest title is an Earl
@derrickstorm6976 interesting! Thank you!
He's about my favorite West Wing guest character.
I love him I wish there were more scenes with him in it
Chronological order would've helped...
I was about to post the same thought.
"Intoxicating"? "Intoxicated" would be more accurate. Great acting.
Here we are, in West Wing world again.

That last bit just pulled the rug out from under me - what episode was that featuring the Canadian national anthem? 😲 🍁
Season 3, Episode 16 “Dead Irish Writers”.

And doing it very well
He would've been me tooed so hard
All very true, especially the gross and lecherous part. The only good quality is that he's so incisive on political matters.
