Yes I try the cayenne pepper 🌶️ because the cats was taking over all so my sister was having a same problem that cayenne peppers 🌶️ is good thank you for the help I have got sick of them in my flowers 🌺 bed and sleeping on my front porch since I’ve been using I been using cayenne pepper I have not seen any cats thank the most high for that
Cayenne pepper is a temporary solution. I put it on my front yard to keep the dogs off of it. I went a little bit further I bought mothballs? Mixed the cayenne pepper and the mothballs together. Did not kill the grass. The air smells for a long time. Not even squirrels come across my yard. I have indoor outdoor cats and they walk the sidewalk. The mothballs last longer than cayenne pepper because when it rains the air smells. I reapply when I stop smelling it. And I know my neighbors hate me.
Little tip, use about 1/4 of hot water in your bucket to dissolve the pepper first, then fill the rest of the way with regular water and add the other ingredients.😉

All you need is equal parts of Borax and a sweetener, I used honey mixed it real well and poured it away from my small puppy but in the pathway of the ants. The worker ants will that the substance back to the nest, feed it to the younger ants and the queen. They were gone over night. Now if you don’t want to hurt the ants the Cayenne pepper is a great solution.

Great video, thanks! I am battling ground squirrels. Nothing I have tried has worked so far. I have enclosed my 12’x12’ vegetable garden in 6’ high 1/4” wire mesh fencing and covered it with bird safe netting (I wanted bees to be able to get in so I opted to cover with netting). They ground squirrels ate the netting. I have tried Neem oil, peppermint oil, garlic spray, vinegar, covered the outside perimeter with coffee grounds, put up life size plastic owls, nothing has worked! I avoided the pepper products because of the local cats. The pepper can be an extreme irritant to them and has the possibility to cause them harm, and since the cats are not the problem, I prefer to keep them safe, plus, I want them to continue to remain in the area since the they are hunting some of the unwanted critters (just not enough of them). So, after losing all of my radishes and most of my Swiss chard overnight, I have decided to do the cayenne pepper within the enclosed garden area where there are no dogs or cats. Poison is not an option due to secondary poisoning to other animals including the wild birds. I also sprayed some castor oil and soap spray this morning which is said to work on squirrels. We will see if that is true. I even on-line ordered a rubber rattlesnake this morning since squirrels are afraid of snakes. Fingers crossed the snake, castor oil and pepper combination works! The vermin are destroying all of my vegetables!
Thank you so much! I am sorry they are talking and destroying your garden .. I hope something works to stop them .. and be careful with the snake's 🙏🏾🌱 I wish you good luck and keep trying .. cayenne pepper powder or even the peppermint oil. Keep doing them one to two times a week maybe
@@Greentgarden thanks, I will continue to re-apply the cayenne pepper. Oh, and the snake that I ordered is a toy snake! The real ones are all over out here in the desert and are nothing to mess with! I trapped one of them last year by my mom’s dog run. I relocated it far away!

Suggestion: I am 76 and have been making cayenne spray for 50 years. The active ingredients in Capsicum are dissolved in alcohol, not in water, as they are oil-based, so I use vodka, which is 40% alcohol 60%water, the water does help a little. Mix a cup of powder in a fifth of vodka, shake once a day for six weeks, the liquid turns dark burgundy. pour off the liquid and use as stock or mother tincture. Add a few tablespoons of this liquid in a pump-up sprayer with water, few drops dish soap, few drops veg oil, shake. The oil helps keep the spray active if it rains, the soap emulsifies the oil and makes the spray wetter so it sticks on the plant and doesn't bead up and roll off. Good against most chewing insects and worms/larvae/caterpillers.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us ... It's very helpful. Very good information overall, this will help .. Have a wonderful blessed gardening Sunday 🌱 Thanks again for sharing your knowledge
I tried using vegetable oil and dish soap mixed in water like everybody recommended and it killed some of my plants overnight. I’m worried about putting a cayenne pepper and dish soap mixture on my plants when the soap and oil mixture everybody recommended was detrimental. But they aren’t going to live if the squirrels keep eating them either.the stuff they sell online seems to be mainly just peppermint oil so maybe making myself out of hot peppers would be more practical and it seems like hot peppers in a squirrel mouth would be more effective than peppermint, but I don’t know.
So sorry to hear that.. I never use vegetable oil before.. but I did use the cayenne pepper liquid and powder doesn't hurt my plant and it works pretty good.. I definitely think the peppermint works pretty good also. Cinnamon are used coffee ground
I’m going to give this a try. I had a terrible chipmunk problem last year. They ruined every tomato and didn’t leave us any to enjoy. The annoying part is that they would take a bite or 2 and leave it.
Did you try the dissolving part he suggested by letting it sit for over an hour? Maybe do it longer or use hot water to dissolve it. Sorry to hear bout that though
Filter it with an old sock. It will prevent the clogging. Some suggest using coffee filter. I found it too fine for the job. It became clogged right away.
I've dusted with cayenne, unfortunately it has rained virtually every other day. I saw somewhere on the Tube that a person was adding approx 4 eggs, cayenne dash of soap and water - letting the eggs go bed and spraying. My buddy is trying the purchased liquid fence. It's main ingredients are putrid egg, garlic, thyme oil. Will make my own - grab some thyme n see.
Oh nice ! That sounds pretty good.. I did try the liquid fence before it does work.. You just have to reapply a couple times a week. But thank you so much for sharing this with us. I really appreciate it. It's very helpful.. happy gardening 🌱
I just did this..with just powder i watched a green worm struggle a few ants landed on it they rolled more into the cayenne,i felt bad watching them struggle but not really hahha it was kind of amusing? Lmao 🤣.. I understand you're just trying to protect and save your garden... Lol Thank you for sharing this with us .. powerful stuff right there .. And you know cayenne pepper is really good to drink too ! It's very powerful
I tried it right away and the pepper clogged the sprayer. Google said cayenne pepper is hydro (water) phobic (afraid of) and doesn't like to dissolve in water, just like cinnamon. It actually clumps together and sits together in the water. So you really have to let it sit for days to have it in the water, like tea. Weird.
I mixed powdered Carolina Reapers, pepper flakes and vegetable oil and just painted the base of my trees to deter a beaver that has already taken out two cottonwood saplings. I'm hoping that it works and that mixing the peppers with oil makes it last a bit longer.
The soap helps suffocate a lot of small insects and bugs. Also whatever Oil or mixture you're doing in the garden soap helps it get stuck on the leaves or plants more..
When you sprayed the ants they weren't running from the cayenne as much as they were running from the soap. Ants breathe through spiracles all over their body and the soap cuts off their oxygen supply.
I have a drain flies problem outside my door (literally outside, they are all gathering outside my door and in the wall beside it.) Will this repel them? Thank you!
remove any unwanted water , Use a baking soda and vinegar mixture Mix together 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup baking soda, and 1 cup vinegar... Also you could use sticky traps...
Use a yellow sticky trap. They work the best for indoors... You could also spray soap water instead of use in the cayenne pepper .. Just wash before eat..
I wouldn't spray it on the flowers because lots of bees visit the flowers.. I would do some yellow sticky traps or plant some lavender , mint or Marigolds
O what kind of bugs are those ? That's very strange.. Normally most of the bugs cannot take the spiciness or scent from the cayenne pepper... It does work pretty well for me so far.. and very sorry to hear that.
@@Greentgarden I’m Not sure I was about to use it while cooking when I noticed beetle like insects in canister. I threw it out. And started checking the rest of my spice cabinet😩
So I tried it I think it might be working by my question is the spray bottle keeps clogging with the cayenne pepper. How long does the mixture last? The cayenne pepper settled on the bottom of the container and I mixed it really good.
I had a similar recipe from a plant expert. His was similar, except he included white glue, waterproof glue. I think it would stay on the plant longer. I didn't use it because it did not spray. It clogged my sprayer. 🥴
Oh thats a another good idea but your right If not mix properly it will clog the spray bottle.. thank you for sharing this... I end up using the powder more ..
So I can take the feeders down tonight then spray then put them back tomorrow… I need to send emails to our local nurseries that sell the mantis. My birds overwinter and there are a lot.
If I have animals outside that we “don’t” want to run off, will this be okay around them? I want to get rid of the grasshoppers but not scare off the animals. The animals shouldn’t eat it but I wasn’t sure if just the smell will scare them.
@@Greentgarden the comments don’t allow me to share photos but I saw a hibiscus tree for sale that was in bad shape and didn’t even have buds. I got it anyway because I’m pretty notorious for taking the damaged plants and bringing them back to a healthy state. Especially when the lantanas are about to be tossed out at the store. Though after a month of TLC this hibiscus tree was doing wonderful and finally got buds. When it bloomed it was a Tri Color which I was ecstatic about. It’s been doing amazing and then one section started dying. Someone said they think it’s spider mites which I have seen webs on it. Do you know how to get rid of those? That and the grasshoppers but that’s why I watched your video.
This video instruction was the best, just that when I do this, the cayenne powder & water mixture clogs my sprayer! What can I do? Maybe I'm not mixing it enough- or perhaps I will let it sit at least an hour. Either way I, too have mutant beast squirrels like @danellefrost5030 described. They ruin the bell peppers and other vegetables in our garden- no laughing matter as everybody knows.
Thank you and And I realize after making a video that smaller bottles were getting clogged so I remade a video on this.. mix the cayenne pepper, leave it overnight and then use a cotton t-shirt over the spray bottle when pour in the liquid inside.. I am puzzled because I’ve used everything to keep this dog off my yard. Cayenne, lemon juice, coffee ground, repllent spray from Home Depot. Nothing seems to be working. I’m so tired of seeing dog poop on my yard every day.
To keep dogs off my young trees, I put thorny rose stems or prickly conifers branches around the tree, maybe you can put something like that to block the dog…
@@JTandLittleBso after all different methods, nothing worked so I ended up putting up a camera facing the front yard and people are now walking around it because they do not want to be recorded.
Garlic!!! It’s the only thing that works for me. Our neighbor’s dog literally terrorizes everyone garden in the neighborhood, poops, bulls up flowers, it’s so stressful! One of my neighbors told me to sprinkle garlic in my bed and I don’t have any problems unless I forget
Use an old t-shirt or cloth over the spray bottle and pour the Cayenne mix through the 50 shirt. It will hold back all the powder that didn't mix and the liquid is powerful enough.. cuz it becomes like a pepper spray.. . Very strange. Some spray bottles. Spray it out and don't.. try leaving it overnight to be stronger... I have to do an updated video on this . Sorry about that..
I had success with keeping skunks away using this: boiling one chopped yellow onion, one chopped jalapeño pepper and one tablespoon of cayenne pepper in two quarts of water for 20 minutes. When the broth is done, strain the liquid and pour it into a spray bottle, then squirt it all around the skunks' den or your property. It keeps other animals away too.

When you sprayed the ants they weren't running from the cayenne as much as they were running from the soap. Ants breathe through spiracles all over their body and the soap cuts off their oxygen supply.
Nice.. thank you for sharing with us 🌱 happy gardening 🌱
I have a drain flies problem outside my door (literally outside, they are all gathering outside my door and in the wall beside it.) Will this repel them? Thank you!
remove any unwanted water , Use a baking soda and vinegar mixture
Mix together 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup baking soda, and 1 cup vinegar... Also you could use sticky traps...
Thank you for sharing this ❤
You are so welcome.. have a wonderful blessed day 🌱
cinnamon i use its great for bugs and ashy fungi
Such a great idea... Thanks for sharing this with us... Very helpful 🌱
@@Greentgarden cool no sweat lol nice vid
Thank you
Does this work to keep birds away? They keep coming back to make a nest and there’s bird poop everywhere.
Yes it does too .... Or you could always put up a scarecrow. I did put up a Halloween one and it worked well ..
@ thank you!
Welcome
Thank you for the recipe! Store bought is SO expensive.
Your welcome and Yes, too much money these days.. happy gardening 🌱
Not sure if I did something wrong but didn’t seem to deter chipmunks from digging
Sorry to hear , garlic,, citrus, cinnamon or peppermint oil....they don't like
Wow thank you, much cheaper than what I use to buy
Welcome 🌱
Will this clog the sprayer?
That's a very good question. Depending on the type of spray bottle you use yes... Try to mix well makes it really good and let it sit for a bit...
@@Greentgarden Ok thank you❤️👍!
Your welcome
Hi is it good for flies for indoor plants in soil… plz reply it will e great help
Use a yellow sticky trap. They work the best for indoors... You could also spray soap water instead of use in the cayenne pepper ..
Just wash before eat..
Can you use cayenne pepper spray for flowers too?
I wouldn't spray it on the flowers because lots of bees visit the flowers..
I would do some yellow sticky traps or plant some lavender , mint or Marigolds
Thanks ty I will try this for rats and chipmunks
Your welcome... Good luck .. have a wonderful Sunday 🌱
I came here because I found bugs in my cayenne pepper… same brand. So how does it keep bugs out if I found them living in my seasoning 😢
O what kind of bugs are those ?
That's very strange..
Normally most of the bugs cannot take the spiciness or scent from the cayenne pepper... It does work pretty well for me so far.. and very sorry to hear that.
@@Greentgarden I’m
Not sure I was about to use it while cooking when I noticed beetle like insects in canister. I threw it out. And started checking the rest of my spice cabinet😩
Sorry to hear that .. has to be one of those bugs who like spicy stuff... sorry about the delay response... Have a wonderful weekend
Be sure to let the mixture sit for some hours and then pass through a sieve so not to clog the sprayer.
Yes your right.... Thank you for sharing with us . I appreciate it...
Have a wonderful Friday 🌱... Happy gardening
White vintages & water 1/2 cup vinegar full cup water mix n spray on leaves
Awesome.. thank you for sharing with us ..I love it 🌱
how often do you apply it ?
I did it 2 times last week and so far it's working good ! Keeping fingers crossed
@@Greentgarden cool thanks !
Welcome 🌱
Does it kill weeds?
Yes it does
Could I use this spray to keep away flies or mosquitoes ? Kindly respond. Namasthe ! Thanks a bunch ! Loved the video ! 😊❤
Thank you so much ! I believe so , most bugs and insects don't like it .. 🌱🙏🏾
Thank you I will let you know how goes very helpful
Your welcome and yes please keep us update! 🙏🏾🌱
So I tried it I think it might be working by my question is the spray bottle keeps clogging with the cayenne pepper. How long does the mixture last? The cayenne pepper settled on the bottom of the container and I mixed it really good.
Have you used garlic powder?
No but I did hear it keep some bugs out too.. did you try it before?
@@Greentgarden Yes, it keeps squirrels away. Dogs also do not like the smell.
Nice .. good to know that.. have a wonderful weekend gardening
Does the cayenne pepper work for knats and other bugs.
Yes also use yellow sticky traps
So I can take the feeders down tonight then spray then put them back tomorrow… I need to send emails to our local nurseries that sell the mantis. My birds overwinter and there are a lot.
Yes...and that's a good idea... Use it but be careful
Will this help my dogs stop digging?
Yes or any Citrus citrus scent
@@Greentgarden which one lasts longer?
I would say the citrus but depends if it rains. The rain will wash most of them away so it make sure to reapply after
does that work for all types of bugs??
I would say it does work for quite a few bugs but not all .. You have to keep using it at least two or three times.. but it works
If I have animals outside that we “don’t” want to run off, will this be okay around them? I want to get rid of the grasshoppers but not scare off the animals. The animals shouldn’t eat it but I wasn’t sure if just the smell will scare them.
They smell wouldn't be a problem, it's just if the eat then it's bit spicy 🥵
Thank you! By any chance do you know anything about Hibiscus trees?
@@Trinity0702 welcome.. I do know a little bit about hibiscus .. beautiful plants and flowers..
@@Trinity0702 Sorry about the late respond, spray neem oil it works ..
Quick Updated video

I am puzzled because I’ve used everything to keep this dog off my yard. Cayenne, lemon juice, coffee ground, repllent spray from Home Depot. Nothing seems to be working. I’m so tired of seeing dog poop on my yard every day.
Oh sorry to hear... Those are all good stuff.. some people say Mix vinegar with water and use a spray bottle .. dogs don't like that smell
Does it work for pigeons on your balcony?
Yes, it should. If it doesn't work, try cinnamon powder. They hate the smell
@@Greentgarden how do you make it stick and not blow away?
Can this be used on carpets to stop the cats from going under a bed
I don't think so.. Try using tea tree oil. I believe cats don't like that smell
@@Greentgarden thank you
Welcome 🌱
How you prevent the pepper from clogging the spray nozzle
Use an old t-shirt or cloth over the spray bottle and pour the Cayenne mix through the 50 shirt. It will hold back all the powder that didn't mix and the liquid is powerful enough.. cuz it becomes like a pepper spray.. . Very strange. Some spray bottles. Spray it out and don't.. try leaving it overnight to be stronger... I have to do an updated video on this . Sorry about that..
Why do we need to wait till it's cooler in the day to apply spray?
The hot sun could burn the leaves...
Will it help deter anole lizards I'm battling in SC?
Oh yeah, cayenne pepper powder works really well .. they hate this smell ..
Sprinkle this twice a week
@@Greentgarden Wonderful....can't wait to do it. Thank you.
Your welcome
Hello. Does this work with crickets as well?
I'm not sure about cayenne pepper but I heard about peppermint oil works
Can you use olive oil in place of the dawn ( has toxic chemicals)?
Yes Olive oil can also be used as a natural pest deterrent in your garden.
what's the soap for?
Soap help fights off a lot of smaller insects and it helps the liquid mix to stick more on the plant
Does it kill ants or just get them to move
Great idea 💡..thanks for sharing
Can i repel skunks too?
Yes should work.... sprinkle 1-2 times a week
Does it have to be Dawn?
Nope... Your choice or any organic one even would be better
@@Greentgarden So it wouldn’t work if I’ve used gain ultra clean dish soap? I was scammed out of $450 because someone said they could get rid of some rats that I hear Bea tween the first and second floors in my house. All he did was spray some poison up in my attic and they’ve been getting worse not better. I can’t afford an exterminator which is thousands of dollars. I just lost my husband in February and everything’s been falling apart so I’m trying to find ways that I could take care of stuff as cheaply as possible. Thank you for any and all suggestions and help. I can’t of course get between the floors of the house but maybe this would make no more rodents come. I am terrified of rodents. The sound of the screen feet above my head while I’m sitting down in the living room and scratching just gets me shaking and crying. I cast shadow from my hand on my couch last night and I thought it was a rat that actually got into the main part of the house and I jumped screamed and I was trembling in my hand wouldn’t stop shaking for the longest time.
It’s getting worse.
Oh no I am so sorry for your loss and everything.. I really do .. that's sad.. 🙏🏾
Try these rat traps....they got really good reviews
amzn.to/4eBdr43 (Amazon #ad
Or someone said try peppermint oil. You sprinkle it all over in your house. It does get rid of them
..
@@Greentgarden I don’t think these sticky traps are gonna catch whatever is between my first and second floor. It’s very loud. Plus I can’t get anything in between the floors. I had gotten a whole bunch of Tom cat peanut butter center bay and my son had slingshotted a whole bunch of them up in the attic but it hasn’t done anything to help.
Thanks guy
Does it kill weeds
It does kill some weeds, add a bit of vinegar to it and soap to this
Is this good for rats? I've live in the country for years and yes just a few times I've gotten a few field mice but I saw a rat the other day .. I'm wondering if someones pet rat got loose. It was white with silver hair/fur... really pretty but I've tried them sticky pads...I've done the peanut butter and baking soda. I need help here...
I think it should help , I'm not sure if rats hate spicy stuff.. use the cayenne pepper and followed by peppermint oil. Maybe they hate that smell
Try baking soda and dry cornbread mix. I saw a video a man had a farm and used this combination to kill the rats he noticed in his barn. He said because the acid in the digestive system interacts with the baking soda it will cause their intestinal track to explode.
Does this get rid of caterpillars??
It does help a bit... or try Neem oil
Does it work on rattlesnakes?
Yes rattlesnake does not like strong scent like this You could also try ground cinnamon
Will this work for foxes
Yes, Cayenne pepper powder will do the job.. apply couple times a week..
What about my fox friends; will they come back?
Cayenne pepper could work but you have to reply to every couple days..
particularly foxes hate chilli powder, coffee grounds, citrus fruit, and garlic
I have noticed that something has been taking my plants out of my grow bags. I think it's rats. Do I throw away my vegetables and soil?
I am sorry to hear , I wasn't throwing away the soil... Can you cut off the bad part on the vegetables?. Can it still grow ... try sprinkled up some used coffee grounds or peppermint oil, cinnamon, are cayenne pepper powder.. whichever one you got sprinkle right away... hope you could stop them fast 🌱🙏🏾

I used cayenne pepper to get rid of ants 🐜
Did it work for you?
You can also mix all contents in a gallon milk jug at once & shake it up.....🤷

I sprayed my ants hole, but I couldn’t sit down for a week.
I need to keep the neighbors cat away from my bird feeders as he is killing the birds and she just always lets him outside for days & nights. So frustrating!
Oh no that's sad 😢 .. I know someone told me if you sprinkled used coffee grounds or maybe peppermint oil and the cats don't like the smell.. ..
Get a Havahart live trap. Both ends open up. Bait with tuna. Just leave the caught cat in the live trap for a short while and then let it go. It will not be back. No harm. Cat learns lesson.
I’ve tried mixing cayenne pepper. The damn cat still came to my door and I used plenty of cayenne
