inspiring patch examples ben! even if i don't have or want the module in the demo, you always present something new for me to think about. i love how joraanaloge makes modules which allows the user to be rewarded creative patching. starting to see his range of modules as serge-esque where there's atomic control over all aspects of the module.
So inspiring. I always know that if I watch a DivKid video review of a module I DON’T own, it will make me rethink of how I can use all the modules I DO own! Who needs GAS with a channel like this?! (Here’s me pretending it doesn’t create more GAS!😂)
Man, Ben, your videos are a most incredible, generous repository of sound/modular knowledge. Thank you for sharing your passion with our community!! Love the new orange text boxes, btw, very clear.
you always add something I've never thought of in these reviews -- thanks as always Ben! *hot tip for your other viewers out there: leave vcv open while watching and quickly try whatever's new to you for yourself ;)
Those last 2 patches are just beautiful. You have such a knack for finding the right combination of melody and individual voices. Great stuff. And now I'm interested in Step 8. 😖
What a great (as usual from you) demo of this module. Joranalogue are truly a gem in the analoue designs game. The versatility that this module brings to the party is really impressive, and all that whilst being playable, performable and great to look at. I wonder what audio rate modulation of both step advancement and the stage imput would do to audio signals. With 3 oscillators merging into one the feedback possibilties there seem really exciting! Have to get my hands on one 😅
After having played with this Module for few days I see Joran is A Mad Scientist All These Joranalogue Modules Together Would be a New Integral Modular Synthesis Technique or Approach It’s really Insane🤪 My mind is overflowing with possibilities just imagining adding a Morph 4 to this or Compare 2 Cerebral Droolage PS: Im Guessing a Multi Quantizer is Joranalogue Next Module
Quantisers tend to be digital, so I doubt we'll see one as Joran is all about analogue. The next 2 modules are announced, Pivot 2 and Delay 1. I wonder if they'll announce new ones at Superbooth in May too. joranalogue.com/collections/eurorack/products/pivot-2 joranalogue.com/collections/eurorack/products/delay-1
Fantastic video! Your content is nothing but quality! Love it... I´m having a hard time deciding which module i should place next to step 8 for more advanced gate pattern. Do you think compare 2 and step 8 are a good match for techno stuff? Or should i rather go with a bin seq or steppy? Or advance steps with rytm and use a gate combiner (think you mentioned or logic in the video)?
short answer ... no it can't follow up ... bits can, not the "whole module", feel free to share how you're using a Brain Seed so others can try out some things with it and consider it, if they can find one.
@@DivKid Yeah of course, i was drunkenly exaggerating, but a lot of the functionality is quite similar. (ie. step and scan sequencing, sampling cv, pausing/freezing the sequence, using as a clock divider, octave shifting, random sample & hold). The Step 8 definitely has the advantages of onboard note controls, attenuated shift registers and analogue & per step gate out, (x8!), but the Brain Seed doers have and internal quantizer and set lengths from 2 - 1000 steps. They would probably work very well together. Cheers!
Not trying to tease. If I just make this a premiere instantly then no one will come. The hangouts have been great, giving a bit of notice for people to come and chat ... not just with me (which I enjoy) but with the designers and teams involved too. I get that it can be annoying when you see a new video go up but it can't be watched right away though.
@@DivKid Thank you for responding, your music is utterly incredible, you're a true genius up there with the Hartnoll brothers. For anyone curious, check out Icelandic arpeggios, digifunk, and the empty moons of jupiter.
The level of effort put into these videos is simply amazing, thank you for all the ideas here.

Masterful Execution
The Same can be said about the whole Joranalogue Line Up 😝
I can't pick a favourite patch, but you've inspired me to dig deeper into my Step 8. I sort of forgot why I bought it. Now I remember. Thanks.
thanks, have fun with the Step 8

Can't wait for that Three Body video Ben. This one really demistified Step 8 for me. Cheers boss.
Back for another look! Thanks for this. Can confirm that switching between cycle and shift is a real source of musical delight 😊
Finally able to sit down with this one. You’ve really outdone yourself. Just an incredible walk-through, thanks!
cheers mate, really appreciate that! Definitely set out to really go into this one and I was happy with the results.
Incredibly useful, thank you so much for the effort you put into this.
it is a mass of effort to make videos as I do, but it's great to be able to do it and get them out there. Thanks for the comment and support.
Fantastic video Ben - thanks for all the effort you’ve put into these ideas. Lot of great techniques presented here!
really appreciate that, especially from someone aware of the workload on this sort of thing.
You Convinced Me
I needed this in my setup
Thank You for the Priceless knowledge
Yay! I need this and was waiting for it since the first anouncement. Great demo as allways Ben!

one day people will refer to Joran Systems like we currently talk about Serge

possibly my fav of your vids ever. thx for this!
Fantastic demo as always my friend! 🙂
thanks JLR much appreciate
When I saw this I yawned at the idea of an 8 step sequencer. Now I need one. Nice

Cool
Thank You Divkid
Love the Vids
This actually makes me confident that my circa 1998 Yamaha QY-70 is something to be jealous of.
other than some minute sequencing overlap I'm not seeing the comparison.
excellent stuff! thank you, Ben!
great module. love one. what are those led coloured patch cables? I have the widder ones but would love some skinny ones. thanks for your great vids.

nice one ! again !
This would pair with the idum very well
I'm really curious on how you made irregular clock in the end of the first patch?
Hi J B, that was a sequencer. Namely the Eloquencer, with probability settings for steps firing a gate and ratchets happening or not on some steps.
@@DivKid tnx
Can this module be updated firmware-vise? Seems like such a good platform for a lot of things, maybe more thats implemented right now.
it's entirely analogue so no firmware updates.
@@DivKid Thanks, probably enough to explore as is anyways eh? :D
the potential for patching it is vast. So definitely lots to explore as you say.
His name is KIDD!
DIV KIDD!!💥
The moment at 43:47 where you switch from cycle to shift was the moment that sold me on this module.
This whole module can be replaced by the Brain Seed. Looks good though!

I don't mind some exaggerating, all good.
You're totally right that there's a LOT of things the Brain Seed does that's similar and some beyond.
Please pair it with mystic circuits idum tree and leaves if necessary.
