The timing of this video is crazy. I literally just ran into this issue myself with a TX16S max. Thanks for making a video about this for all us scrubs. lol
I'm glad I have good timing, lol.. Yeah, this issue got worse to the point it wouldn't boot up at all.. It's been good for just over a month now...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
@@PropsOff My TX16S Mark II went into Emergency Mode on my first flight today. Luckily the plane was low and headed towards some bush trees so the plane did not get any damage. Got home, watched this video and cleaned my cable and now it is booting normally again. Thanks so much!!
Funny: before this failure turned out, my radio switched on by itself randomly… today I prepared for flying and emergency mode showed up… Helped to clean the ribbon cables, but I will exchange it with the new one ✌🏼 Thanks!!
That's probably the best to return it if your able to do that. I had to replace the main board on my MCK MAXPRO. However, the ribbon cable polish and seating it correctly on my V1 TX16S is still rocking...🤞🏻

I "fixed" my TX16s by following the steps in video, although it took a couple of power on/off cycles after I reassembled everything before it booted normally. I say "fixed" in scare quotes because although it seems fine now, I've been having intermittent issues with the radio randomly powering on by itself, other times booting into emergency mode and then eventually returning to normal multiple times in the first 2 weeks I've owned it. Everything looks good now but I won't be surprised if problems return. I would like to think I was unlucky in getting a dodgy unit but there are enough google search results regarding such issues that I'm starting to think that although these radios are powerful and affordable, their weakness is quality control and reliability. So far every problem has arisen from powering on/off the radio, but I shudder to think what could happen if an emergency reboot happened in flight. If I can't fix it myself I'll have to return the unit to the retailer, who might choose not to replace a unit that has been taken apart
I appreciate your feedback and please return here to update me. I'm trying to keep track of how many people polish and reseat their ribbon cable and are successful. I personally have been involved with a half dozen radios that had issues like yours and probably more than a dozen on Facebook. So far, only two of them needed a main board replacement (depending if I received feedback).. I will hope you have the same success that I've witnessed... I have gone to the Zorro as my daily driver and its been months since I've held my TX16S's. My figures are crossed...🤞🏼

Very good question; Also, slightly ironic. Just recently, I was flying with a buddy and he owns a newer version of the T16S. He has the upgraded ribbon pre-installed from the factory. He actually had the "Emergency Mode" issue while I was there with him and I proceeded to instruct him of the fix (remove, clean, reinstall). He has flown many times with zero issues. Yea first time this happened I pooped My Pants than Realized Easy Peasy thanks for Sharing
I had to put this out, some people were saying the main board needed replaced - no so!.. I have months of testing and the simple ribbon buffing is all that was needed..
Say, you ever get burned out on the whole social media thing? Considering I'm in the generation that grow up without phones, I'm just taking a break...😴
problem about alcohol is it leaves a residue on the connectors so is not good to use....a fibre glass brush is what you need as it is like fine sand paper and cleans back to original.

I did use the fiber glass pad, the alcohol is 91% and doesn't seem to be too bad under the microscope. It's more to cut any oily residue (possibly from the gimbles). I'll look a bit closer next time since you brought that up .. I appreciate your feedback...🍻
Full circle back to those annoying Nintendo cartridges. Guess this is a level up. Keeping us on our toes.
That's funny!! I'm totally remembering having a bag of pennies on the cartridge door...🤣🤦🏻♂️🍻
For me the emergency mode only pops up when I try to turn off the radio every now and then (1 out of 20 turn off's). it's a bit annoying but cant be bothered doing that process right now, but thanks for showing us the potential fix 😅
I've had 7 radios now that I fixed. The "Emergency Mode" issue will eventually shut it down, just a matter of time...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
@@PropsOff Just saw your reply. yeah after realizing that it also affect the temporary switch and will make it act as the power button I got a bit skeptical and fixed it. but 1 annoying thing happened when fixing it (or maybe it was already there but I just didn't realize it). 3 pins on the ribbon cable lifted half way and were bent 180 degrees after putting it back in place.so now I bent them back and I can only hope they are put in properly. Since then I didn't had the emergency mode happening..

They have an upgrade ribbon cable (Black and Gold instead of the V1 White and Blue), and it's easily accessible. Nearly all the FPV stores carry it. I think I linked it in the description. My main thing with doing this video is a few guys were saying they were told to buy a new main board, that troubled me, knowing it most likely was just the cable. When it comes to my gear, I try to eliminate temporary fixes or "bandaids" - I try... 🤣
I'm so frustrated with my radio I just opened it I've got emergency mode twice a 9 out of 10 times my buttons don't work... this is so frustrating
In the description, I placed a link for the upgraded ribbon cable. Not sure why they didn't use it from the start. Stuff like this (simple things) makes me crazy...
This did not work for me. I do notice that mine "EMERGENCY" screen happens only when I try to change widgets. I will report it to RadioMaster as a possible hardware or firmware bug.
This is interesting, I appreciate your feedback. I would like to know your outcome of what fixes it - if you would please...🍻
Widget changes setting off the warning, it's the first time I've heard this. The ribbon polish and reseat usually does it. Only one of nearly a dozen the main board had to be replaced..
can it play DOOM?
Frogger too..😉
Worked for me thanks, but in the middle of a well made TX they stick this inadequate ribbon cable. Dont trust it now, will only use it for slow moving boats!!!
I can not argue with that. It took me some time to trust it again..
