  • On this episode of Mad Ginger Customs Jess get down and dirty in the Shoebox. We get it stripped out and see if this is even worth building. On the previous episode we broke the Flathead free and got her fired up!! Will the rest of the car let us down or is she a good builder? Jess really gets "INTO" her work on this one! This is a REVIVAL!!!

New to your channel, said and done, to me a very easy build if you have some basic tools. I don't know which channels that you enjoy watching for some inspiration but I will mention a few that can help you with this build. Junkyard digs or vice grip garage would go with some old licence plates and road signs for floors. To me, that is not even entertainment. I'm seventy three and quite crippled up so, me getting dirty now is just a dream. I love the next two channels Halfass Kustoms with Brent or Make it kustom with Karl Fisher. The later is a little extreme as he loves to teach and his ocd has him making perfect panels... Brent is a old school quick and dirty but really proper builder from old metal and some new stock to make his own patch panels. He does his work in a way that is easy to follow and you too can do it. As I see it right now, getting stuff freed up and working again is going to be a challenge but times on your side. It sat in this condition for some good time now so its not going to give easy. Heat is your friend to getting Krol oil or what ever you like to loosen stuff up with. My folks owned a new forty nine like this rig here that looks like a fifty. I do believe that every new panel is out there to be had but if there is a part of any of it to copy with cardboard or paper, even tape and stuff folded into the shape desired, you can make it yourself. Another channel is (spelling challenged) Fitzees
    ruclips.net/video/1AiDqIHP5Po/видео.html&ab_channel=Fitzee%27sFabrications
Its best sometimes to just include a link so you get the right person. This guy is as basic as anyone gets and he is dang good. I think he spends too much time teaching but his work is just super fine quality and makes a real custom job look quite easy. I do hope that you do build the rig but as it is now, you have all the seat frames for upholstery and trust me when I say its easy to get overwhelmed but stick to it. I agree getting what they used for undercoating is going to be everything but fun. I am a course person and not really a person to invite around small people as my adverbs are a bit much. I live in alaska and it seems to just be common here. I wish you the best, I did subscribe and will try some of your videos. Good luck

Granddad had the '49 with a visor and my dad had a '51 custom with chrome fender skirts. The '49 had the L head 6 and the '51 had the flat head V8. Very happy you decided to save this relic from my past. Looking forward to more on this (and or)your trucks. Particularly fond of the IH as we had a '74 that we used for hauling horses around.

I think your wife gave herself quite a wedgie helping get that trunk open, not to mention how filthy she got. If that's not love I don't know what is. Great channel.

Ok, the tri-5’s were shoe boxes as I knew it growing up.
Why is this car a “shoe box”?

Just picked up a custom in about the same shape. One thing I noticed right off the bat is the brake pedal seems frozen in the up position. Any suggestions on how to free it?
