Loved these narrative games! Genuine fun and more thematic than what some modern iterations of GW games have become. I love how the mighty knights ran away until the last moment when it looked like the battle was won, then charged in and claimed the glory 😂😂
Really interesting to see 3rd edition being played, what a relic. I’m a huge fan of your channel! Your video’s have made me want to pick up Warmaster! Many thanks, keep up the amazing work 🤩 🙇♂️
Enjoyed this immensely! Great to see 3rd Ed being played and your narrative driven plot was hugely engaging. Sincerely hope this is not the last any of us see of Handrich and his evil odours!
Please do more of these. I’ve been trying to learn 3rd ed to suprise my dad who is big into it. This video was much easier to understand than trying to parse the book. Keep up the good work and please do more of these.
That was excellent! Great to see how this game works i'm really excited to try it and this has given me a much better handle on it. You've got a new sub
All I can say is wow mate, top draw . I have to really pull my socks up to get anywhere near this. Was totally awesome and I enjoyed every second of it mate. Love it hope to see you cover more 3rd Edition Warhammer Fantasy in the future and the brave men of Fassberg 👍
Ousted for his evil odors. Love it Iain. Great to see you covering 3rd edition mate. I was my foray into Warhammer but as you say way too complex for me to get to grips wiht the rules set. Hence 4th edition was my true first edition into the GW hobby. Love the oldhammer art and books though.
You made me taking out my old 3rd. edition book from the shelf where it was residing for...well since 1987 or so...Now I have to find someone in my WHFB 6th. Edition group who wants to try a game of 3rd. with me...😄
Absolutely brilliant - clear and concise explanations of the rules, in both the telling, and use of images, nice models & terrain, and a great story. Nowhere near enough 3rd edition content on RUclips, so please continue with these 👍🏻
Thank you so much for the video! you inspired me to get into this edition. I was always to intimidated about the rules but you make it so simple. Thank you!
3rd Edition does feel a lot more immersive and it's absolutely worth the extra effort needed to get into (and I say that as someone who got into the hobby during 5th edition). Videos like this will show that to people very well. Really great stuff, thanks!
This is great fun. Thanks for uploading it. I'm just getting into 3rd edition and this was interesting to see how game play pans out. I can see this expanding into a bit of a campaign. Any plans to play more, even generally? I for one would be glad to watch more.
Well, this video has been a wonderful surprise! I have enjoyed it a lot. Question: what is the rationale for zombies being subjected to psychology? I never expected that.
Zombies are immune to psychology, but can be routed. It is an anomaly in 3rd edition. If they rout, they can't rally. It is described in their rules as their human instict taking over once the controlling magic is broken, so they flee from the enemy and then keep running (like forest gump.)
very fun watch. laughed many times at bad rolls and interesting narrative choices. very much love the format, and even shouting out your teenage self in the credits. very cool!
This was really interesting, never seen 3rd edition being played. The concept of the game master in a warhammer game is still a bit odd to me, but it made a really engaging game.
Great Battle Report! I love 3rd edition, I play it a lot ;) One thing- Zombies shouldn't rout- they are also immune to psychology and subject to instability, like skeletons ;) Only Ghouls and necromancers take rout tests in Undead army ;)
MOST EXCELLENT!! WFB 3rd Edition For Life!!! I have some questions and comments. Fear is indeed a game winner in 3rd. If you can flank with a fear causing unit... Oh, ha you did!! Nice one. Excellent stuff, however don't walls and other linear objects block LOS? I know you said not, but the rules on page 51/52 seem to suggest it should. Could the crossbows have targeted the zombies? That seems like an odd ruling with regards to letting the skellies fight back. The knights do not have to specify who they are attacking, they can only attack those in B2B contact, so the special models in the front must have been attacked? When the knights routed, why can't the skellies move? How is the graf killing more models than he is in B2B contact with when he pursues the routing zombies? And then later with the grim reapers at the wall? In the last fight the skellies should get a rank bonus? Yay the Empire!!
The gamesmaster changed any rules which detracted from the gameplay, so certain things were changed to make the game more enjoyable for both players. The skellies could not pursue the fleeing knights due to their instability result last turn. Thanks for watching!
Why do the zombies rout, what exactly is going on lore wise with them? Is this just a mechanical oversight? Really enjoyed this though, warhammer is at its best when the stakes of a battle are contextualized imo
The lore says their human instinct overrides the animating magic and they run away. Odd rule but it makes zombies much more of a gamble than skeletons.
This was cool but I don't think any undead force should've been able to rout or become unstable while controlled by the necro, they're mindless summons, they know no fear and are always stable unless the necro is discombobulated in some way
Not the best edition, it's very unplayable in parts. But I do have lots of fond memories of playing this in Croydon in the 90s. I really do miss all the crazy monsters and the wonderful armybook from this system. The game, not so much as they got so much more playable from 4th.
Yes, it is not a balanced edition of the game at all. Nice for scenarios and narrative games though. Will try a game vs chaos next, they have some ridiculously powerful rules.
Never played 3rd Ed but i had the rulebook during the 6th Ed era.. Seemed fun. i like the roleplaying aspect more than most twats around me just playing Pitched battle "competetively".. Which I find silly.. Have fun, the game will never be balanced so why ppretend it is.. make up fun stories... Thanks for posting a fun vid on it. :)
PLEASE DO MORE OF THESE! There's not enough 3rd edition content.
Wow, those are some big warmaster miniatures!
Loved these narrative games! Genuine fun and more thematic than what some modern iterations of GW games have become. I love how the mighty knights ran away until the last moment when it looked like the battle was won, then charged in and claimed the glory 😂😂
This is awesome more 3rd Edition thanks 👍
More to come!

Damn! This is one of the best battle reports I've ever seen. Lovin' the story that unfolds!
I love all the Army of Darkness bits cut into the narration, enjoyed the video!

Thanks Brett, your channel inspired me to get back in to 3rd edition!
Fun to see a 3rd edition bat rep! That movement phase was so unbelievably clunky back then!
A classic showdown in a classic game and another incredible video, keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
I really enjoyed this one!
Same as all the rest. Please never stop bringing us these videos 👍😎
Thanks! Will do!
This was great. It would be good to see this done with 3rd edition goblins including fanatics
Fantastic! More 3rd ed please :) I started playing at 4th so all of this is new and great to watch. Enjoyed the voice overs!
More to come!
This was an EXCELLENT overview of a 3rd edition battle, and touched on a lot of the reasons I prefer the older, more narrative game.
You made me taking out my old 3rd. edition book from the shelf where it was residing for...well since 1987 or so...Now I have to find someone in my WHFB 6th. Edition group who wants to try a game of 3rd. with me...😄

Brilliant. Great to see some 3rd edition broken down and played! More please.
More to come!
"Where the past generations of villagers are laid to rest".... in the same time heard as "or are they?".
Thank you so much for the video! you inspired me to get into this edition. I was always to intimidated about the rules but you make it so simple. Thank you!
Glad I could help.
After watching to the end: Brilliant.

Wow. Well presented, entertaining, informative… excellent job here.
Thank you kindly!
Love the classic cardboard tower, think mine is still hanging around somewhere, but a bit more beaten-up than yours :)
Wow! This is ahhh... Kind of fiddly... Thanks making this and the GW history lesson.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome stuff. Great to see some 3rd ed. so well presented.
Glad you enjoyed it!

So so enjoyable, thank you very much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice story. Really enjoyed the back and forth. The Graf surprised me.
Glad you enjoyed it
I am very much here for these batreps.
Nice! Just bought the 3rd edition rulebook last week!
Nice!
Your going to love it mate 3rd edition the emperor of editions 😁but I may be biased 🤔
amazing video, I enjoyed a lot!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this is amazing! Please more!
Nice, I'll be sure to check this out later. I never played 3rd Edition, nice to see a report on it 👍
This was really interesting, never seen 3rd edition being played. The concept of the game master in a warhammer game is still a bit odd to me, but it made a really engaging game.
Makes sense to have an objective referee
Great Battle Report! I love 3rd edition, I play it a lot ;) One thing- Zombies shouldn't rout- they are also immune to psychology and subject to instability, like skeletons ;) Only Ghouls and necromancers take rout tests in Undead army ;)
Oh zombies definitely can rout. And cannot rally. But thank you for you comment!
@@iainmstanding Ah, you got me! True! They can rout! My bad ;) Anyway, can't wait for more 3rd edition stuff :)
Great vid, still my fav period of WFB
3rd edition was great with the siege rules. Mighty fortress was great.
Where are you getting these fantastic soundtracks from?
Warhammer Dark Omen soundtrack.
@@iainmstanding bless 🙌🙌🙌
Excellent battle report! Really enjoyed it
Glad you enjoyed it!

What movie was the skeleton army from?
Army of Darkness
Awesome video!
Thanks!
One wonders why would the undead would need musicians. xD
A wonderful small 3rd edition game. I may have to dust off my copy of the rules.
You made a lot w good work.
woohooo 28mm warmaster!
I've been thinking of blending elements of WH3rd with Warmaster to spice up my Warmaster gameplay
Man. Give me mow of this! And give me now!

The birth times of Warhammer sound like fascinating times.
