I went all in at once. I’m 66 days in- carnivore, no coffee/tea, no alcohol. I went through keto flu with caffeine withdrawal at the same time. I don’t miss it anymore. This is the longest I’ve not had coffee since age 24 and I’m 49 now. I used to depend on it to have a bowel movement. Don’t need it now. I love not having any addictions. No dependency.
I have gone without coffee many times (more times than not) but will go on periodic sprees of coffee everyday for weeks in a row but then switch to tea, etc. I have been on no sugar, no processed food, and low carb for about a year and have gone from 225 to about 180lb (male 62yr) I went through a period of putting heavy cream in the coffee and that seemed to stall any weight loss. I do keep it(both coffee and tea) very sweet (with "Pure Sweet" brand of white powdered stevia extract).
I've given up bread, muffins, cookies, pop tarts, croissants, fried okra, sweet potatoes, bread pudding, key lime pie, and ice cream for the Carnivore Diet. I draw the line at giving up coffee!
Meth is not coffee. I blend my coffee with toasted dandelion root and toasted chicory ,plus I add bitters. I have lived in coffee cultures, Costa Rica and Rio.I love my coffee.
I'm getting really frustrated with every carnivore channel being sponsored by lmnt. Its ridiculously expensive for what it is and after trying everything up and down with electrolytes (getting leg cramps at night) i finally found the solution was putting a small amount of pink salt in my drinking water in the evening. Pink salt is cheap and widely available vs lmnt is quite the opposite where i am.
I have a really good clean electrolyte liquid I get in bulk from a health store. It lasts forever and does a great job. A little shopping around and you can easily find the few out there without sugar and all the other additives many supplements have
You can buy bulk potassium and magnesium online and make your own for pennies. And you need salt of some kind which is the main ingredient. It took me minutes to make enough electrolyte powder to last six months. I use a half-teaspoon twice or three times a day. HINT: don't use volume measurements i.e. cups and tablespoons. Use weight measurements for accuracy.
Agree. I got a sample pack and really love the taste of LMNT. But it's certainly expensive, and most flavors contain Stevia. I have followed Judy Cho's recipe for making "Solé water", which doesn't taste as yummy as LMNT but seems to work just fine for my needs.
My father is 94 years old. He has drank Cuban coffee espresso in little cups at least twice a day throughout his day every day of his adult life and so did my grandmother who lived to 102 years old. She was strong. Walked every day and cooked a big meal the night before.
@1timbarrett Same thing happened to me when I gave up coffee completely. Now I limit it to 1 or 2 cups per day, and I feel so much better than when I gave it up.
What really gets me is how, just like alcohol, it's a quirky thing to joke about. Teehee I need my coffee! We don't say that about crack or meth...why is coffee, wine, beer, even cigarettes socially acceptable to be addicted to? Sugar, too, and chocolate, but that's a whole other can of worms... Not trying to be mean about it just trying to get people to think.
I absolutely love how people in the comment are calm and very self-directing on what they choose instead of lashing out on the suggestion of not taking coffee. Being able to choose for ourselves and our limits as an adult in light of information is so important and I'm happy to see people are being reasonable here.
Yes! What baker said. No need to give everything up at once. If coffee makes carnivore more sustainable, then keep it for a bit. Try giving it up at a later time if you desire ❤
@@johnmartinsen963I get where you're coming from but I think it's counter productive to start telling people "you're not one of us, you're not welcome here" type language if people slip up or keep some things in their diet whilst being predominantly carnivore. We should be inclusive about it, not try to exclude people. The actual definition of a hyper carnivore is 70% animal based, it would take quite a lot of coffee to make up 30% of your diet!
@@georgemoonman2830 sorry but carnivores don't drink coffee. It is nice how you addicts defend each other but that doesn't make coffee ant better for you.
I had heart issues from the unmentionable experiment. Quit coffee for months. Did nothing for me other than making me peeved because I didn't have coffee. Re-started coffee, feel better and enjoy life more.
@@tdmallet The you-know-what-poke-in-the-arm...you know...the thing-that-gave-people-strokes-and-bizarre-cancers-and-sudden-deaths...I know a lot of people IRL dealing with the aftermath 😢😢😢
I quit coffee cold turkey 7 months ago and I noticed no differences at all. But I'll never go back to it. I like the idea of being completely plant free.
I had a huge difference in my body when I gave up coffee. My anxiety went away and I could focus more. My energy went off the charts and I can sleep a little better
Coffee can really suck the magnesium and B vitamins out of you….. So take your supplements, and the coffee wont bother people so much. There are those whose bodies can’t tolerate caffeine at all, but those folks already know.
I’m 58. I have FAP. I do not have a colon and gallbladder due to FAP. I started carnivore 100 days ago. I drink coffee everyday with cream. Inflammation is gone, skin is great, I don’t have energy crashes anymore. My hair and nails are growing healthy and best of all I’ve lost over 45 pounds. Coffee is not hurting my results. In fact, it helps my attitude as my only other drink is water.
Hahaha...here's a tip. Change your mindset if you can. Don't think of it as GIVING UP ice cream, twinkies, and everything you love outside of meat. Think of it as FINDING REAL FOOD and the optimal diet for your health. It's dramatic and restrictive to think of it as giving up things you love, and may get in the way of maintaing carnivore eating. I believe if we all tell the truth about our journey to carnivore you'd hear that 99% of us have been tempted by sweets and carbs. Experiment with YOUR way of eating, and if a very small amount of these things don't cause problems or trigger excessive consumption, relax. Dump the guilt. I'd rather you ate some icecream or a cookie than GIVE UP on carnivore. Nobody is scoring you or judging you. And if they do, get them out of your life. They are just as toxic as the crap we've all been eating! Cheers and Eat The BACON!
Make carnivore icecream. It's yum. Just heavy whipping cream egg yolks and vanilla extract or any other type of extract for flavor. Icecream machine makes it better but can just do it in a Mason jar.
Carnivore two and a half years. Tried to go without coffee last May. But then I stopped being regular. After three difficult weeks, I restarted drinking coffee and voila, the issue resolved perfectly. I’m sticking with coffee for now.
I've been addicted to caffine for 28 years. I've been on the carnivore diet for 2 weeks. I quit coffee 1 week into carnivore. I am waking up feeling like I have a "clean" consciousness. I feel smooth.
I finally tried quitting coffee. It's been a game-changer for me. I can relate to what you describe as a smooth feeling. I think everyone needs to understand that if you are gluten sensitive, coffee has to go as well. I never thought I would quit coffee but I did and it's made all the difference. Sleep is better. Cravings are further reduced.
I think this has convinced me to switch to decaf. After watching this, I read some other material that showed how caffeine can cause spikes in blood sugar. As someone who is extremely insulin resistant, I don't need any more things spiking my blood glucose. And if I get better sleep, that will help reduce my cortisol levels, so it's a win-win.
I wouldnt... I did and decaf spike your insuline more then regular coffee PLUS often it highers your tension I did it and i had a blood monitor and nope came back to regular !
@@missmarielyne6697Interesting. I'd want to know how much you used at once, if you ate other food with it or even cream ( idk if that would affect anything.. just wondering), and how it was made into decaf ( the safe, water process or unhealthy solvents)... if that matters in this situation (??).
One of my reasons for going Carnivore from KETO was as an elimination diet. I wanted to start from a zero baseline and then decide what to add back AFTER I see what improves health wise and weight wise. So I went STRICT carnivore - Dr. Chaffee style. Quit Coffee cold Turkey in Week 2. Also weaned myself off the one prescription med I take. One of my goals is to be completely free of addictive foods, substances, and pharmaceutical drugs. I want to give my liver and kidneys an opportunity to perform a complete cleanse of my system over the next few years as I look to optimize my health and fitness. I am also eliminating plastics and other estrogenic substances from my home and personal possessions and lifestyle to the greatest extent possible. Furthermore, I only drink filtered water and NEVER drink water from plastic bottles. The general idea is to get back to completely natural pure foods, water, and living environment. When I retire in a few years I will be moving to the wilderness - far from cities and pollution and too many stress-inducing people. 😊
Love this. Very motivating for me as I begin my carnivore journey. Will definitely be taking a 2 month break at some point-not sure when yet because I just got an espresso machine for Christmas so I’m kind if enjoying that lol. But jokes aside I agree, I do not want anything in this world to tether me down. I am going to Heaven praise Jesus, and we won’t need coffee There.
Yes, I’m 29 and planning my life to do the same. My fiancé and I are both on board. We will make some sacrifices for the next 5 years while building a life of freedom returning back to nature as much as possible. I’m fed up w the city life. I had a good run in my teen years and early twenties, I don’t miss it.
That's kind of what we're doing, but in reverse. Eliminate things, one by one, til it's ONLY carnivore. Then add one thing back at a time and see what happens. I'm genuinely curious.
I gave it up for 25 days. It was the worst 25 days of my life. I will admit, I felt better without it. A lot more mental clarity and zero anxiety. That said, I have a ritual I love. I wake up have my 2 cups and plan my day. I will probably never give it up again, however I now only allow myself 2 cups a day. Before I used to literally drink it all day.
Try to exchange your morning coffee with home made bone broth, I add home made electrolytes to it for saltiness/ taste and of of course benefits of electrolytes
@@pamrobinson9880 YEP THEY ARE. I tried to quit it about 7mos ago & couldn't take the headache & lack of function & energy. I'm buying a bag of org. decaf soon & will start bringing down the caffeine SLOWLY - I already cut back to 6 from 8-10 cups I used to drink in the past. I just enjoy the taste and experience with it that's why I'm going to add some decaf in my afternoon coffee - I tried this decaf at our church that is SOOO good🤎from a small org. fair trade company. I'll use that & mix it with my regular organic & gradually cut my caffeine at least by 1/2.
I quit coffee about 5 years ago, I had big sleep improvements and sleep is #1. Many people say it doesn't affect their sleep, but then if they slept perfectly the night before they wouldn't be needing coffee today.
Well, they mean affecting their ability to fall asleep, but yes, who knows how it may affect the quality.. ?? I bet tho that it's mostly all the other things in our diets, OR how coffee may affect our gut health etc., making for swollen sinuses and general inflammation, which makes for one not relaxing thoroughly, breathing super easily and deeply, thus... quality of sleep/rejuvenation.
I'm a long time coffee lover/drinker, and it is helping me stay on track with my carnivore journey. I only drink it once a day. However, I will be swapping the coffee with pure caffeine capsules to see if I notice a difference in my body (inflammation, pain, mental clarity, etc.). I'm thinking that by cutting out the hundreds or thousands of plant chemicals found in coffee, I will certainly feel a difference. Thanks for the fantastic video!
I was ambivalent about removing coffee. Watched dr. Chaffee explaining the why's. This morning I decided to quit and had hot water with butter. It actually tasted better than my coffee (that lately has been started to taste too bitter- I think my body was asking me to quit). The hot water with butter helped me with the ritual part of having a cup on my hand! :) let's see how this goes. I had the 3 problems mentioned by Dr. Chaffee and one of the doctors: gut inflammation, adrenal problems and hormones- seems it is the right thing to do. Will post update.
I will try this. I was doing just hot water and it got old pretty quick, but I wonder how long you went on hot water with butter. Thanks for any update
@@CarnivoreNurse85 even hot butter got old. I also added the Redmond salt, but once the cold weather came, my body wanted something more. I currently drinking decaf with heavy milk. However, night sweat returned for the last month or so. So, it is a total experiment and every one reacts different. In the other side, i have been completing projects - one after the other. I feel strong and healthy! If you are starting check steak and butter gal for priming. Blessings your way!
I quit cold turkey! Dr Lisa W. got me off! So I now heat cup of water ,add butter, salt and mineral drops, and iodine. So good, that I don't even miss coffee!💞
I liked Coach Bronson and Coach Natalie's response! I think we need to experiment and see what works for our body. I love coffee and not ready to give it up at this time!😊
Just enjoyed my morning coffee (fatty latte) - heaven! Yes I’m addicted. Maybe one day I’ll quit but for now I’m happy to have this vice! I do stick to just in the morning and no more than 2 cups!
I was convinced I can not give up coffee and chocolate, but I tried and I am coffee/chocolate free for 9 months already. Fixed several smaller health issues I was not even aware of. One last thing. Decaf is not even a challenge in my view, because you got rid of only one potentially harmful chemical compound out of maybe thousands.
Thank you! Really helpful to hear all the pros. and cons.and from there just feel it out myself. The hardest part for me is the social aspect. Love going to a cafe and have a coffee. Only one month on carnivore, and everything else was easy to cut away, even all the different meat choices and eggs and cheese went away, as beef seems to be all this body wants. But the coffee, only one day, is still there. I feel it keeps me on carnivore in this beginning phase, as a pleasure I don't want to give up, just yet.
I needed this right now. Stopped coffee today and struggling with the withdrawal migraine as I’m watching this. So I’m thinking coffee isn’t for me. We’ll see if it makes a difference in my carnivore journey.
Great timing. Today is my first day with NO COFFEE. I’m going to try NO COFFEE for a while. We shall see. I decided to try it yesterday so l have managed a no coffee day and now l’m watching this. Honestly if l make it all week and into the weekend that will be a great accomplishment 🤔
“Shut up and drink your coffee”😂 I didn’t drink coffee during my pregnancy, and also gave it up when I did Whole 30, plus a few other times during my adulthood I’ve gone without it for extended periods. I’ve never noticed any health benefits from not drinking it, but I do feel my quality of life suffers without it. I have 2 cups in the morning, and the occasional cup of decaf in the evening when I’m with people who are eating dessert. It’s my treat. It’s completely worth it to me to keep the coffee.
For me, Dr Ken Berry is my go to for medical advice. (Ending video for me!) I’m sure it was another fantastic piece because Rina, you are the consummate interviewer. Full disclosure: l love my coffee as a dessert replacement, the butter is so satisfying and a dash of cream decadent. Stopping it and restarting it did not show me, personally any need to permanently ditch it. As Dr Berry taught me 2 years ago when I began my Proper Human Diet, my N=1 experiments now shape my lifestyle. Hopefully all will stop blindly following influencers and try stuff for THEMSELVES. Thank you for your thoughtful and thought provoking videos, you are fun and factual. PS eating a homemade scone gave me 3 sleepless nights of anxiety…FLOUR is out forever!!!
Dr Berry has a monkey he can't shake...his info is bias due to his lack of freedom from addiction. He does help some pretty pathetic folks get much better, but just a foundation and not the holy grail of nutrition.
The appetite suppressant properties of coffee are a huge plus to many people. I don't get how you see that as a negative. I do love all your videos, so a big thank you for you and your channel.
My enjoyment of coffee is to high to consider abstaining. Coffee acts as a bronchial dilator and helps improve morning congestion, that's a plus for me.
I quit alcohol, drugs and cigarettes 30+ years ago. Been on Carnivore 4 months, went all in gave up all sugar, carbs, everything except coffee which I drink black. I may give it up in the future but right now I am still battling sugar issues. Not the need for sweets but the oh my gosh that used to taste so good. Sticking with “my old friend,” coffee for now.
I drink a LOT of coffee. I’ve stopped for months on end and didn’t feel any better. Now I drink several cups a day. I don’t feel tired if I don’t drink it, so my energy levels aren’t greatly affected. I do get a headache without, but that doesn’t bother me too much. And I LOVE it! I like the ritual, the taste, etc.
I love black coffee. I can't give it up. It makes my day so much better.

Good that you decided to test yourself, I just recommend considering longer time. Caffeine withdrawal symptoms might bias your experiment. I found 6 weeks to be more reliable timeframe.
I gave up coffee for 3 months, and each day I felt slightly more depressed. I definitely have a co-dependency on it but I really didn’t want to continue having what felt like a dark cloud hanging over me. I’d like to join the challenge but think it’s best that I don’t. Good luck! I know you’ll do great! 😊
Carnivore newbie here......4th day in lol. I love coffee and haven't gone a day without it for years! I've swapped coffee for hot water. I do miss the taste but realized I was addicted to it so I'm seeing how long I can go without. Because i'm doing carnivore to reduce inflammation it made sense to remove it. Coffees at cafes in NZ are $5 sometimes $6 if it was a triple shot so I will be saving $$ by not drinking it😄 Good luck with your week challenge, you got this!!!
One question no one seems to discuss is the individual's half life for coffee. The mean is about 5 hours, with most people being between 1.5 to 9 hours. However, higher scores have been recorded. I happen to have a longer response to coffee, so i have to be very limited if i want to sleep. Lack of sleep can really upset your metabolism. Perhaps this needs to be discussed more. Since going carnivore, the impact of coffee has been strengthened in me.
Great comment. I am up that 9 hour plus end. Have been drinking decaf for years due to this. Have been using it as a vehicle for butter as per Dr Bright’s comment but now I’ll try hot water with butter. An interesting experiment!🤔
I hate to admit it but I feel the same feelings when I drink coffee, a little tightness in the chest and some anxiousness. I do have butter in it and some chocolate LMNT in the morning and I love it, but honestly, I'd love to find a caffeine-free alternative for a while and see how I feel. I do feel that I have been dealing with cortisol and hormone issues. Great video. Glad it is well rounded 😀
I went decaf at the beginning of April, then no coffee at all at home on 1st May. I am down to no more than one cup a week. The main difference i have found is that the bridge between being awake and asleep is now much shorter and I fall asleep so much more quickly and easily. I dream a lot more which I take to mean that the quality of my sleep has also changed (improved I hope).
I normally have 1-kick ass coffee in the morning and that's it. Then periodically I will detox for 3-5days. That next coffee IS divine! I can see how coffee may become another 'no-go' for the long term carnivore. Coffee isn't "bad", it's the sensitivity that develops with the radical change in digestion on carnivore that causes the issue.
I gave coffee up for 40 days, didn’t notice any difference and it wasn’t too hard to give it up. However, after the 40 days I went decaf. Occasionally if regular coffee is only available I definitely get a surge of energy as opposed to when I had 4-5 regular coffees a day had no effect on me, not even before bed.
Been drinking coffee since going off to college 50 years ago. Also have been keeping an eye out for studies showing it’s bad for one’s health. As Dr Berry says, no such studies have come out….yay! Because drinking only water is incredibly boring, and a cup of joe in the morning is for me an excellent replacement for food, which helps me restrict my “feeding window”. And the social aspect is very important to me. Occasionally I do substitute tea for coffee, again for variety. Keto and carnivore are great for my health but I find these ways of eating to be boring and drinking only water compounds this problem. If you can’t stick to a particular way of eating of what use is it to you? Thankfully for me coffee and tea greatly help me stay on track without any apparent bad health consequences.
Yes yes yes raw lmnt in coffee with butter is the best I call it my salty coffee I thought I was the only one. Everyone thinks I’m crazy but I start off my day with this one cup of salty coffee and it just sets my day in the right direction. Especially on those day that I feel just a little bit of hunger but not enough to have a full on meal this coffee will hold me out till dinner. This is also great for long travels you don’t have to think of where you are going to eat it hold you till you reach your destination and you can cook your own meal. I guess I’m a bit germs phobic plus you never know what ingredients or oils they are using. Love my lmnt and butter coffee 😁
I have been without coffee for about 4 months now. It’s hard to believe because I love coffee and morning coffee has been a ritual for me over 35 years. Over 3 days I drank 1 cup a day instead of my usual 2, and then stopped completely. No withdrawal symptoms. I have been contemplating bringing it back but then I remind myself of all the negatives in your list. But I really miss the taste. I have had decaf just to have something with friends but it doesn’t taste very good. I wonder when I will cave? Maybe when I visit Italy in September? ☺️
Hey, idk which is worse or better for you or anyone, BUT you may want to look into how the typical coffee out there is made decaf. Solvents. There are water-processed decafs out there, and prob. if the coffee shop/eatery is a health food type one they may carry that, ask. Purity coffee is one well-reviewed coffee that's 3rd party tested for mycotoxins, and their decaf is made the safe way, but most OG coffees (that you'd find in a health food store, maybe not the ones like a Sam's club brand) are that decaf process too, just prob. not mycotoxin-free. Also, I'd just read that caffeine serves to protect the coffee against mycotoxins somewhat, so if drinking decaf, all the more important to get it from a mycotoxin-free provider. SO... you'd probably be better off drinking just a few sips of regular - ask for only a 1/3 of a C., so you don't accidentally drink a whole one (!), OR ask for it to be watered down by half (or ?) w hot water, if u want more sipping time. You could probably even, at a restaurant, ask for them to add real butter to it !
Guessing I’m not yet ready to get off coffee, or I would do it. A vehicle for butter yes! I am also surprised the people who have gone decaffeinated have you looked into the process of decaffeination it’s worse than drinking caffeine in my understanding
I give up coffee becouse i want my glucose to stay low # . I love coffee, but on carnivore diet, coffee it's a plant. Just saying, that's just me. Good luck you all😀
Just started carnivore but sorry, just can’t give up coffee. I do a lot of very brain intensive stuff and have found it really helps me to get my brain going. I have tried other things like ginseng etc. but it’s just not the same. I have always came back to coffee to get me started. Full disclosure, I absolutely love the stuff too so there’s that….
The good point on adrenals made while transitioning into Menopause. I needed that confirmation! I love myself a latte in the morning but since I switched back to caffeine I can tell my adrenals are taxed. Time to go back to decaf for sure.
Glad i am Paleo, im about living life not surviving. Note if your having heart palpitations you need electrolytes especially magnesium. I never drink caffeinated coffee always decaf because the newer dark roast coffee tastes as good as caff.
I give up coffee few months ago and first few days felt less energy but after week realised coffee gives me couple hours bust and that's it. After month I noticed have so much energy. Decided no needed coffee 😊 great video ❤
Yesss me too! I noticed my anxiety was getting bad and after quitting it it's down significantly. I had one cup about 2 months ago and I couldn't stop shaking for hours. It was regular roast too no like espresso or anything.
Could someone enlighten me 🙂. Why is it that it is only coffee that many carnivores seem to be fine with including in their diet but we never hear about tea or cocoa? Are these ok too?
Coffee is an addiction that most adults have. I think that's really the answer, it's an addictive substance that few want to give up. But whatever negative effects it may have seem to not bother many people, and it's not preventing people from losing weight or from becoming drastically healthier than they were before. Personally I think I am someone who IS effected by coffee negatively. I don't hear too much talk about dental health in the carnivore space but I really think coffee was destroying my teeth.
@@rosethorn0232 I recently heard Dr Chaffee mention that it is a neurotoxin so..... might swap to cocoa until I hear something about that, and keep my fingers crossed :)
I love coffee. Sorry-not giving it up. Lol. 😂 6 months carnivore & all is good! I add in LMNT chocolate salt. I do 1/2 per cup plus lactose free 1/2 & 1/2 or Italian olive oil. Yummo 😋
For the first few days of no caffeine (coffee or energy drinks), I feel a little lethargic in the morning, then feel OK the rest of the day. After awhile, I begin to notice something happening. I no longer wake up tired, and my energy level is more stable throughout the day. I don't feel that mid-morning lull where I have to decide whether to have more caffeine or to just slog through it. I love coffee (and Red Bull), but overall, I'm better off without either.
I was heavily addicted to the habit of coffee. I also used to use a lot of cream and sugar, so there was likely a sugar component as well. But I found that the habit was more powerful. The habit was powerful because going through a drive-through and buying coffee was one of the few things that I felt that I had control over when I was the primary caregiver for a terminal spouse. I quit coffee after an anxiety attack for over a year. I only drink decaf now, with no sugar. I do find that my body is better off without coffee sometimes. If it controls you, stop it. Doesn't matter what it is. If you "just wouldn't give up coffee," you have some objective observing to do.
I gave up coffee for two months. I didn’t feel different. Just reintroduced it a while back and I like mixing it with heavy whipping cream, lots of salt, and some ground turmeric, and ice making a little smoothie. I have it about 2-3 times a week. If I drink coffee too much I do start to smell weird, and my wife says I taste like spaghetti when we kiss. I drink bullet proof coffee medium dark roast as an expresso.
This video reminds me of Dr. Chaffee's story of lifting weights without getting sore, then had a cup of coffee for the first time in a while, and immediately felt sore
Totally agree with Dr. Berry. I'll add that coffee isn't typically an 'addiction;'' that characterization of it is ridiculous and off-putting. Many of us simply enjoy coffee and want to continue it for that reason. It's OK to keep it as part of life unless of course it bothers you - and if it bothers you, why are you drinking it?! I only have a cup a day, and if I don't have it, I'm fine without it - but I like it. There's no reason to give up every single thing we enjoy, and for many of us, that means including coffee in reasonable quantities.
I love your videos! TY!!! I found drinking the flavored LMNT made me crave sweet. I do believe there is truth that anything sweet whether real, sugar substitutes, and artificial sweeteners do trigger the sweet center in the brain and can keep us craving sweet and carbs. I do 1/2 caff (equal amounts) of organic, mold free coffee. Although, I add 2Tbsp of goat milk (1.4gms of carbs) and occasionally 1tsp butter and blend, yum! 2c/day, no jitters.
I am definitely not a morning person! Therefore, I love my morning jolt of coffee….3 to 4 cups definitely gets me going. However, as with all drugs: what goes up must come down, and I definitely go through the afternoon caffeine crash! I quit coffee once for about 4 months: it was rough getting started in the morning but I felt so much better in the afternoons not having the caffeine crash! So, I’m 4 weeks into my carnivore diet and next week, I’m gonna drop the coffee again and see how it goes. Instead of the caffeine jolt to get me going, it’s gonna be a slug of ice cold water and hit the gym first thing in the morning.
I use coffee all the time, but I keep the junk food out of my life. Monitor your weight, and drink heavy whipping cream. No one deprives themselves of everything, and stays the course! Gout is my motivator, so that’s what I check! The reason you are on this diet, is the determination factor for you. I’m old, so health is my goal. Not looking for a harem, just staying ambulatory.
I had to quit coffee within the first week of going carnivore, because it made my transition diarrhea much worse. The diarrhea pretty much disappeared after I had ditched coffee. It was harder than ditching sugar, especially emotionally. It's been almost three months, and I don't miss it now.
This is helpful, Ive been carnivore for 7 mos and still have diarrhea, thinking it could be my daily coffee that is the issue. Is your diarrhea still resolved?
@@user-hw7ze8tq1c I don't have diarrhea anymore, except the first day of my menstrual cycle (but that has been a problem of my whole life, and it's not tied to carnivore). Now I can eat as much fat as I want without getting diarrhea. It's been eight months on Ketovore.
I have quit drinking coffee several times in my life to prove to myself that I was not addicted to it. I just like drinking coffee I'm now 74 years old and do not have a problem drinking coffee! I have even drink coffee when fasting and I have fasted a week at a time and never had a problem.I have been on carnivore over one and a half years now with no problem.
I had my smell and taste taken from me seven years ago! I suffer horrible parosmia. This means foods and drinks and lotions perfumes etc that I’ve enjoyed my entire life taste awful! Coffee was one of the biggest joys and comforts in my life and I haven’t been able to enjoy it in seven years! The smell and taste for me is NOTHING like coffee! It’s GREATLY added to my depression! Having a lot of issues in my life and I miss the comfort of coffee more than anyone could know! If anyone feels inclined to pray for healing for me I would appreciate it. Feeling pretty hopeless tho after 7 years and two months dealing with this 😢💔 all of these smells and tastes are related to so many fond memories especially the coffee associated with my beautiful grandmothers that passed in 2005 and 2007 so makes it even harder
My husband has severe nasal allergies. Which resulted in his loss of smell- taste. He had a sinus surgery to remove severe nasal polyps. Some things still do not smell right. I pray you can get your senses healed.
I eat once a every 24 hours but I drink coffee with stevia organic heavy cream and mct coconut oil in the morning. Then I drink more coffee twice a day with heavy cream . No sugar, under 20 carbs a day and I went from 200 lbs to 179 so far. My goal is 175 🎉 I also eat 5 low carbs nuts a day and one avocado 🥑 and 5 to 6 oz of meat.
The one thing I never hear about is incontinence. I had brain injury and found coffee helped. I had never had coffee but I found one cup would lift the depression left by the injury but I also found after a month of so I had incontinence issues. I was told it is part of getting older. I learned to deal with it but it did get worse with time. Then I decided to stop the coffee when it was not lifting my spirits anymore. It took about a month to stop the morning head aches but I also got rid of all incontinence. Completely went away. Then about a year later I thought I would try a new coffee and it all came back. Now I have a table spoon of cold brewed coffee in a glass of milk once in a while just for the taste and everything is fine. I like the taste just not the side affects.
I will never give up coffee and I drink mine with a bit of milk. I've lost 24kg's and coffee did not affect my weight loss at all and still at my goal weight. I also drink a latte once a week. I'm 80% carnivore aiming for 100% by 2 June and will continue drinking coffee and I have not used sugar in my coffee for decades. Also, I've been through my menopause (with zero) side affects. Everyone is different and should change their eating/drinking habits accordingly. I'm on no medication and unless something changes in my health, I will continue doing what I do.
Excellent video. Packed with information. I have recently discovered this woman and I have subscribed. I think she is going to help me navigate the carnivore diet I have just started. I love coffee so this gives me plenty to consider!
How hard can it be? 😅 Last famous words, right?! I've never ever been a coffee drinker, but I tried the keto coffee once. I liked it, but felt it was too expensive to continue buying. Think you should do a week of decaf and then a week without any, just to see....L🥰VE your channel❣️
I love coffee and don't see any reason to stop it ! I buy an organic water prossessed decaf coffee and I really enjoy my morning ritual. I've given it up many times for months at a time.. still love my coffee, . Thank you very much.

Coffee does not affect my hunger at all. Can go entire day with no food, and just have a big cup of coffee with heavy whipping cream.
What about tea? Decaf tea? Couldn't you put butter in that like people do with the coffee?
You got polyphenols in the wrong column. I drink it for polyphenols.
Wow.
Respect
I have gone without coffee many times (more times than not)
but will go on periodic sprees of coffee everyday for weeks in a row but then switch to tea, etc.
I have been on no sugar, no processed food, and low carb for about a year
and have gone from 225 to about 180lb (male 62yr)
I went through a period of putting heavy cream in the coffee and that seemed to stall any weight loss. I do keep it(both coffee and tea) very sweet (with "Pure Sweet" brand of white powdered stevia extract).
I SO HOPE I CAN LET GO OF COFFEE. I’m carnivore for 4 weeks now. I want to try to let go of it soon.
Cold turkey with everything, same here
I love your mindset. I’m trying to have the same :-)
I've given up bread, muffins, cookies, pop tarts, croissants, fried okra, sweet potatoes, bread pudding, key lime pie, and ice cream for the Carnivore Diet. I draw the line at giving up coffee!
Amen brother! I'm allowed one vice!
My coffee 😮. I just bought 120 kcups. I work night shift too. What’s the alternative? Cocaine maybe.
We need one vice at least right. 😂

Agree. Make your oun
Agree. I got a sample pack and really love the taste of LMNT. But it's certainly expensive, and most flavors contain Stevia. I have followed Judy Cho's recipe for making "Solé water", which doesn't taste as yummy as LMNT but seems to work just fine for my needs.
Why drink lmnt when you can drink fresh coconut water?
My father is 94 years old. He has drank Cuban coffee espresso in little cups at least twice a day throughout his day every day of his adult life and so did my grandmother who lived to 102 years old. She was strong. Walked every day and cooked a big meal the night before.
I bet he smoked a cigar or two as well.

I gave it up and my life got worse. I really try to stick to one cup in the morning. It’s one of my greatest pleasures in life. ❤
I gave up coffee on February 15th of this year. It’s May now, and for some reason I haven’t had two consecutive nights of solid sleep in weeks. WTH?😮
@1timbarrett Same thing happened to me when I gave up coffee completely.
Now I limit it to 1 or 2 cups per day, and I feel so much better than when I gave it up.
Pleasure = Dopamine hit to the brain = Caffeine Addiction.
Just do it then…good for you
You'll be fat for life . Coffee destroys your health and metabolism
You know how powerful coffee is as a substance when a person can go carnivore and give up so many things in life but can't stop coffee
Nobody said coffee was good. They just say they like it so they're not giving it up
Right!? I'm struggling with quitting.
Yea It’s hard
What really gets me is how, just like alcohol, it's a quirky thing to joke about. Teehee I need my coffee! We don't say that about crack or meth...why is coffee, wine, beer, even cigarettes socially acceptable to be addicted to? Sugar, too, and chocolate, but that's a whole other can of worms...
Not trying to be mean about it just trying to get people to think.
Thats me, im carni but still drink one cup for morn tea.
Totally agree, and thank you for being part of the video 😊
Until you give up coffee you are on a keto (meat heavy omnivore) diet, not carnivore. Freedom from addiction is true freedom.
@Jennie Adams fancy seeing you here 😆
@@johnmartinsen963I get where you're coming from but I think it's counter productive to start telling people "you're not one of us, you're not welcome here" type language if people slip up or keep some things in their diet whilst being predominantly carnivore.

I had a huge difference in my body when I gave up coffee. My anxiety went away and I could focus more. My energy went off the charts and I can sleep a little better
I did not notice any difference when I stopped it for few months. And drinking 2 cups per day I fell asleep at the moment my head touches pillow.

Listen, I've given up ice cream, I've given up twinkies, I've given up everything I love outside of meat... I'm not giving up coffee! Lol
No! Not ice cream! 😂😂😂

@Mauitaoist LOL! Thanks dad.
Carnivore two and a half years. Tried to go without coffee last May. But then I stopped being regular. After three difficult weeks, I restarted drinking coffee and voila, the issue resolved perfectly. I’m sticking with coffee for now.
I started the carnivore diet the end of June of 2023, I couldn't give up my espresso in the morning. I started out at 168, I am now a steady 130.
Yay
I've been addicted to caffine for 28 years. I've been on the carnivore diet for 2 weeks. I quit coffee 1 week into carnivore. I am waking up feeling like I have a "clean" consciousness. I feel smooth.
Caffine? wtf is that?? 😂
Caffeine
I finally tried quitting coffee. It's been a game-changer for me. I can relate to what you describe as a smooth feeling. I think everyone needs to understand that if you are gluten sensitive, coffee has to go as well. I never thought I would quit coffee but I did and it's made all the difference. Sleep is better. Cravings are further reduced.
That's an interesting benefit! I want to try giving up coffee now.. Thanks!
@@TheCuratorIsHere Who are you, the spelling police?
That's the carnivore. Try a cup of java with that.
I figured people drinking coffee was for the caffeine and not for the taste bc personally, it tastes like absolute ass.
@@missmarielyne6697Interesting. I'd want to know how much you used at once, if you ate other food with it or even cream ( idk if that would affect anything.. just wondering), and how it was made into decaf ( the safe, water process or unhealthy solvents)... if that matters in this situation (??).
The issue isn’t the caffeine, it’s the other compounds.
Decaf has caffeine too.
Same here brother, only 30 days in myself though.
That's kind of what we're doing, but in reverse. Eliminate things, one by one, til it's ONLY carnivore. Then add one thing back at a time and see what happens. I'm genuinely curious.
I've never had a cup of coffee in my life I'm not going to start... coffee is bullshit
I had crazy withdrawal symptoms for 6 months. I really was a caffeine addict. I do much better without it.
Rituals are important!😊
I quit it for few months - did not see any difference. But I drink only 2 cups per day.

Hardest thing ever, is quitting coffee. 6 plus cups a day since I was a kid. But now, I feeeel sooo much better and consistent energy

Hi! I'm from Brazil and I can't start my day without coffee, I know it's an addiction, however to me it's still hard to give up of my coffee ☕
I’m joining you in this challenge!👍🏻 Let’s TRY! Please let us know your results
Dr. BERRY IS RIGHT.. I gave it up.. I feel better..
I drink only one cup of coffee after waking up in the morning, but it did not affect anything else.
Decaf is still coffee . It just has a tiny bit less caffeine but has all the other compounds.
I like Dr. Bright's answer as a vehicle for butter. I like it for that as well and had been wondering if that's a bad thing.
I honestly don't think I missed a day of drinking coffee for over 20 years. But you've sparked my interest. I think I'll try to quit and report back
Been drinking coffee since going off to college 50 years ago.
Yes, coffee and tea make staying on your new health lyfestile easier.
That alone would be enough to use either one.
Baker nailed it. Try giving it up and half of people will find benefit, sometimes big
Love my lmnt and butter coffee 😁
great answers if Coffee affects you adjust appropriately
Wow, I weaned down to less than one cup and still had migraines for like 9 days.
Good luck you all😀
Just starting the keto diet. Whilst cutting back, giving up coffee is a big ask.
Quit smoking beginning of Feb.
We will see
Just started carnivore but sorry, just can’t give up coffee. I do a lot of very brain intensive stuff and have found it really helps me to get my brain going. I have tried other things like ginseng etc. but it’s just not the same. I have always came back to coffee to get me started. Full disclosure, I absolutely love the stuff too so there’s that….
I’ll second another comment: I’ve given up a lot of old habits (carbs & sweets). I draw the line at my morning treat, coffee!
The good point on adrenals made while transitioning into Menopause. I needed that confirmation! I love myself a latte in the morning but since I switched back to caffeine I can tell my adrenals are taxed. Time to go back to decaf for sure.
I've been Carnivore for 5 months and drink a cup of coffee daily. I've lost almost 30 pounds of fat while gaining muscle in the gym.
Glad i am Paleo, im about living life not surviving. Note if your having heart palpitations you need electrolytes especially magnesium. I never drink caffeinated coffee always decaf because the newer dark roast coffee tastes as good as caff.
When you say tastes as good, do you mean tastes like burnt beans? Because coffee is just plain nasty.
@@herbiehusker1889 aquired taste like beer. Beer i no longer indulge in much anymore.
This is a great video, thanks for taking the time to do this.
I give up coffee few months ago and first few days felt less energy but after week realised coffee gives me couple hours bust and that's it. After month I noticed have so much energy. Decided no needed coffee 😊 great video ❤
same here!
Yesss me too! I noticed my anxiety was getting bad and after quitting it it's down significantly. I had one cup about 2 months ago and I couldn't stop shaking for hours. It was regular roast too no like espresso or anything.
I love using LMNT Chocolate salt in my morning coffee, with butter😊😊
People talk about “a cup” of coffee like it’s a can of soda. The same cup of coffee can be brewed to different strengths and that makes a difference.
Decaffeinated has more mold on it.
😔😔
Turmeric is high oxalate
Yes! I'm in to do the challenge with you - this is another vice in my life I need to get rid of!
Love your shirt!!!
Now uses a medication to control the inflammation in his sinus cavity. His sense of smell returned. I had my sense of smell damaged by the Corona virus over 2.5 yrs ago. It's still a problem for me. Some things still do not smell right. I pray you can get your senses healed.
😢🙏🙏🙏
I eat once a every 24 hours but I drink coffee with stevia organic heavy cream and mct coconut oil in the morning. Then I drink more coffee twice a day with heavy cream . No sugar, under 20 carbs a day and I went from 200 lbs to 179 so far. My goal is 175 🎉
I also eat 5 low carbs nuts a day and one avocado 🥑 and 5 to 6 oz of meat.
Oh wow!! Amazing. I also love my fatty latte 😄
@@ThePrimal.Podcast Yes and I won't be joining you with your 5-day decaf coffee as I love my coffee too much!❣
No break from coffee ,ever .Given up many things …not ready to give up coffee just yet .
