    Hi! I'm rediscovering my love of tapestry crochet, and you were the one who taught me how to do it here on RUclips! I recently discovered the large crochet community on Tik Tok, if you don't have a channel on there, I'd recommend giving it a try. I see plenty of people doing tapestry crochet, but there's nothing about flat tapestry. When I mention to others that I don't turn the work, they've never heard of doing it that way.

      I'm so happy you're still enjoying it and helping to spread the word. Thanks so much for the suggestion.

    Wow, I lowe this! I just started crocheting again after more than 30 years and I am totally addicted. I am going to have give this a try. I am a lefty but I was taught to crochet righty so I think I might be able to do the back and forth without turning method! Thanks for this video!

    I found a one of your patterns a few years ago in a crochet magazine. It was a hat with the Aztec bird on it. It was so much fun to learn and work this. I gave the hat to one of my grandsons. He still wears it around. Now I will have to find your book. I love Tapestry crochet! If I can find my picture of the hat I will post it. Thanks for the ideas!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!! for putting up this tutorial. I tried to tapestry crochet a tweety bird design and it kept leaning like you said in your tutorial but I tried to crochet this before I had seen this video. I ended up crocheting a solid afghan and then cross stich tweety bird on. Needless to say this took forever and it doesn't look as clean on the backside as well. Thank you so much again for this tutorial I have been wanting to do another blanket this will be easier and nicer.
    Danielle.

    I don't think it was one of my patterns. There are lots of great designers out there publishing wonderful tapestry crochet patterns. I'm so glad you gave tapestry crochet a try!

    I had never thought to use my non-dominant hand. That's pretty cool.

    @marthatita Unfortunately, most bookstores don't carry my "More Tapestry Crochet" and "Bead & Felted Tapestry Crochet" books because they're self published, but they are available through my tapestry crochet web page or Amazon. Thanks!

    I can't do squat with my left hand, so I use the other method that's in the book. When I get to the return row, I simply insert the crochet hook from the back of the stitch, yarn over, and pull through. It's very awkward at first, but I managed to get a rhythm going.
    The front came out nice and smooth, and the back was the way that it should be.
    If you're pants at using your left hand, try using that method.

    Thanks for the tips and info! I am Definitely Left handed. I knit right handed, just can't seem to make it work any other way. I think this method will be as much fun as it is currently a challenge. I am quite the Dominate Right Brainer though. LOL

    It's quite easy to do it all with just the one hand. When I was trying to work out how to keep the stitches on once side I thought of changing hands but I am so useless with my left hand. So by just observing how you crochet normally and applying your observations while inserting from the back you'll avoid having to teach the other hand and you can get on with it sooner. The biggest hurdle is making sure the yarn is on the approapriate side.

    @CandiPinki I carry the red because I want a reversible fabric and because the carried color makes the fabric thicker.

    Have you got any links to free tapestry crochet patterns for beginners? Whats the difference between tapestry crochet, intarsia and graphghan?

  • @robynbecker3443
    @robynbecker3443 12 лет назад

    Why do you have to carry the red (alternate thread) thru to the end of the row. Why don't you stop after the last pattern motif stitch and then pick it up on the way back? This would be the same as is done when knitting using the intarsia technique. Thanks much for this great lesson.

    @philosgal Yes, as long as you insert your hook from the back when you are going the other way with the back of the stitches facing you.

    Hello! I commented below on my other channel (Chronological Orders) but I wanted to stop by with my crochet channel. I did want to ask if you have any tips for how to manage multiple colors on a single piece? I'm doing a rather complicated piece right now, and every row I have to stop and untangle my yarn. The piece has 6 different colors and many, many color changes. I can handle the multiple color changes even left-handed, but again, having to untangle my skeins every row is getting tedious.

    • @tapestrycrochet
      @tapestrycrochet  Месяц назад

      I suggest you arrange the colors around you - to the right, left, front, etc. Allow a twist to occur next to your work when you change the color.

  • @tapestrycrochet

    @tapestrycrochet The original question was deleted. It was:
    Carol I crochet with my right hand so if I turn my work will it look neat??

  • @tapestrycrochet
    @tapestrycrochet  15 лет назад

    The edge color will be covered by a row around the border. Why not try the other way in the video where you turn over the piece and (still using your right hand) push the hook into the loops from the back?

    @NolaGB The red thread shows a little, but you can't see it at a distance.
