This guy's right hand fingers are like hammers of a piano. They just bolt straight out, strike and retract. It's such a tight, pummeling sound. If that isn't Metal, I don't know what is.

If you listen to the isolated bass track you will hear the use of the low B of a five string bass before the guitar harmony.

If ...And Justice for All would have sounded this good, just imagine how much better the Black album would have been. Losing Cliff really hurt them creatively, Lars just wouldn't allow it, I don't really know if he was being selfish or he just didn't want anyone to be able to compete with Cliff.

This is one of those songs where the dynamics of the song could possibly sound better if the bass didn't just play everything the guitars do, and followed the drums more. Not that this doesn't sound good lol. Sounded great man

This song needs to be played on a 5 string. If you listen to Jason’s line as closely as possible and do some mixing around you can actually hear him playing on a tuning way under E at 4:16. Go to the Work in Progress mix and you can hear it better

I've just noticed some of Jason's fills in the chorus of Eye of the Beholder Rough Mix (in which the bass is louder, and the second and third choruses don't contain any vocals). He plays some notes seven frets up from the root notes, during the lines where James sings (or would normally sing) "Freedom of choice/speech/etc". Check out from 3m39s of this link:

@@GreeceOfTheHellenes Josh is a very good player and he inspired me when I started out a couple of years ago. But I think he's gone off the available tabs rather than closely scrutinising the isolated bass stems (which, to be fair, have only recently come to light due to advances in bass separation software).
