Metasequoia glyptostroboides where only known as fossils a few years ago. The tree covered 150 million years ago, the entire northern hemisphere. In 1941 the tree was found again, during an expedition. Metasequoia glyptostroboides has been re-cultured and is nowadays applied throughout the world.
