    Thank you very much, I always learn with you, when I have doubts I just have to look for your videos with the necessary information. It is practical and consistent, and easy to understand. I haven't seen Server Core videos yet. Is there one on your channel? Thanks for your kind reply.

      Thanks for watching. I have one for 2012, but it sounds like I need to update it.

      @@techpub Thanks again, the problem I had was that I couldn't join my core server because they weren't on the same internal network and even if I changed the adapters the problem persisted, it seems that the information remains on the machines, or at least I think so. And I had to remove and reinstall the server core. Now I'm looking in your videos how to join my machine that has DNS AND AD DS to another machine with DHCP to the same domain control and I can't find how to do it. It appears to me that there is an error to change the domain to my router. I'll keep looking!! a million thanks. All the best! And would see the video of 2012 🙌

    Hi there - I am new to windows server 2019 and just followed your tutorial and created the folder and assigned permissions to two staff to access that folder, but all staff are able to see and access that folder. how do I assign just a few staff to a folder?

      Make sure the permissions on the share tab match the security tab and remove other users including disabling inheritance under the advanced button in the security tab. Be sure you manually add your users there including the admin before doing so.

    Hello Robert.
    So I have a question, I know it may seen old but, every video or info i see on creating folder for users or roaming profiles, all of them click disable inheritance. I notice you didn't do this, is it that important or ?
    Myself I have always disabled it was just how it was don't during prep tests.
    Thanks for any insight.

      Thanks for watching. You would only need to disable inheritance if you didn't want the users and groups of the parent folder to not trickle down to this one. That makes it optional.

    In our Helpdesk we cannot do this. We must escalate it to Level 2 and they often needs 3 days to 2 weeks to create a shared folder for the user.

      Yes by using VPN or Work Folders. Check this out: ruclips.net/video/05fNHjWUpkI/видео.html

      You can do this using Group Policy. It may take a little bit to find these settings but it will work.

    Is it an SMB1 share or SMB2 share?

    • @techpub
      @techpub  3 года назад

      With 2019 it is SMB 3.

    We had a need to setup a 2019 server VM off-domain in order to isolate file sharing to some other off-domain pieces of equipment. This off-domain server is able to see the other off-domain shares in order to send files and isolate them to these older Windows machines. We would like to setup a share on the 2019 server and see it from our domain machines, but we cannot get the share visible. We've used the share wizard, manually setting one up and cannot get even get to a log in screen. Also set local security policies, lanserver registry values etc. I would prefer to have the share open to 'Everyone'. An on-domain machine share seems to be no problem but this off-domain machine is. Any help would be much appreciated!

      It would make more sense to create a second domain and create a forest and domain trust. Then you can keep them separate and decide who can use them and have them show up through browsing.

      @@techpub Thanks for the reply. Another domain would work. We decided to use FTP from domain machines to this off-domain server and shares from there to the other machines. At least FTP seems more reliable than SMB changes.

    local or public ?

    • @techpub
      @techpub  2 года назад

      When you share it, you share it with the rest of the local area network.

      @@techpub thanks, and when you connect in the same address IP that’s mean locally?
